Things you've tried or done, because of the DIS

This is great...keep them coming !!!!

stayed for one night at the dolphin due to the rave reviews it gets on the disunplugged podcast. never again, i thought it was run downed. and we switched rooms twice. maybe it has gotten better since the renovated the rooms. however I will never stay there again. to each their own.

Good point. Its good to point out that your experience may be different than that of the podcast crew. Not everyone is going to have the same opinion or experience. But you'll never know if you don't get informed and try for yourself.

I bought dvc resale through tts. I trusted them since they sponsor the boards. I got a great price and was able to buy enough points for what I need. I had been interested in dvc but the direct prices were so high I could never buy enough points. So I listened to the experts on the dvc boards and bought Saratoga for a great price resale through tts and it worked out fine.

Smaller things I have done because of the dis - we got figaro fries (yum) though they are no more.

Toontown for the 9:45 role drop (I never even knew there was one) dd3 got to lead.

The wagon ride through fort wilderness.

Thought of a few more- lobster bisque at yachtsman; hyatt mco through hotwire the night before my cruise; a great price for an inside guarantee for 7 night Disney magic cruise; free dining (in my pre-dvc days); learning that yes, I really did need to make reservations for my free dining week back in 2006 (as nuts as it now sounds I had planned to wing it to avoid having to stick to reservations. But reading about how hard it was to get tables during free dining I called a few weeks before we went and had a hard time but was able to get reservations).

TheBigGuy and I went on our first ever cruise....

We volunteered for GAD promotion

We had special seating at the golf tournament

Had grapefruit cake from Brown Derby @ Starring Rolls cafe

Had free dining twice

Got to eat Figaro Fries

Bought multiple hydro flasks

Knew what to look for and where in the parks...

All due to the Dis.

Tried a dole whip - I would have passed right by normally because pineapple ice cream does not sound appetizing to me... so glad I tried!

Go to Le Cellier.
Get my 4yo to collect pressed pennies in the souvenir shops, much cheaper!
I will be staying at Bonnet Creek this October, never would have known how to even get a room there, if not for the Dis.

There are lots of things, but the biggest ones were:

Candlelight Processional
Yachtsman
Tea and Spice Exchange
Grocery Delivery to the resort

Oh, and of course the Hydroflask

I am pretty sure I had a Dole Whip PB(Pre Bawb) but now I have to have a Dole Whip for Bawb.

I do not know if we would have learned about the Illuminations Cruise. We did it one visit since we took a nephew who would never go to WDW if we did not take him. My mother loves fireworks but when going to WDW as a kid with my aunt and cousin we would always leave before the fireworks. My aunt wanted to avoided the crowds so mom never got to see the fireworks.

We did the cruise as a surprise for the kids and my mom. :thumbsup2

Twas great.

Later,
Dan

Bought an iPhone, Keurig coffee maker, almost bought Apple TV but need to update the TV first.

I would have to the main things are:

Food and Wine
Murano glass
Narcossee's
Jiko

For me the best things have been swimming in the lakeshore at the Polynesian, delectable crab cakes at the Coral Reef, a general disdain for lazy people in ECVs, and a healthy admiration of Meg Crofton. And for me no news day is now complete without following John's fairy tell readings from the obituary page of the Reedy Creek Gazette. Thanks Team!

My real favorites have been Bawb Golf, buying into the DVC and Kevin's suggestion about writing letters to loved ones (nothing says I love you quite like putting those words to paper; and emotion seems to pour out when you can speak to a blank page instead of stammering in front of someone).

so many many things over the years since i first started lurking on the boards...i don't think i could possibly remember them all, and even if i could it would take a day to write it all down...

DVC membership...BLT 2010
boardwalk- didn't even know it was there
downtown Disney & T-rex...great cocktails @ the bar
Disney cruising
watching fireworks on Grand Floridian beach with drink in hand
magical express
free dining
reservations for dining
comfortable walking shoes for the parks
room / window decorations for POP century- aussie flag looked great
good excursions on DCL
behind the seeds tour
...and the list goes on...

thanks guys for all the help over the years
