Things you've regretted bringing or NOT bringing to the parks!!

The interesting thing is that your kids found the little best kept secret that most of us in Florida already know. That is, the water at WDW is fine for all to drink. The drinking water at WDW is good for all of us to drink. It is good that your kids don't listen to those who don't like the water and say that it is undrinkable.

I hear this often but I don't get it. I didn't think anything was wrong with the water. We filled our water bottles each morning before leaving the resort and used the fountains around the parks.

Now if you want to taste awful water, try drinking that stuff in Myrtle Beach,SC.

I personally don't think any city has water worse than LA. It has a color to it. Its not even clear. Now I live in St. Louis, MO and water is almost "sweet" compared to the water I had in B'ham, AL.

I take sandwichs consisting of bread, meat and cheese. The fast food places that serve burgers have open condiment tables full of veggies, mustards and mayo, just take the bread off and build the best sandwich! FREE!

Be careful! That one can be controversial. If you are purchasing something else from there it isn't a big deal, but I (and others from threads I have read) have seen people walk in with their own food, purchase nothing and then help themselves to the condiments. That does not go over well - shall we say refillable mug debate? :p

I also agree that Florida water tastes fine. We got there and I didn't even use our Brita's. We were like, what is the matter with all those people? This stuff is fine!!! (And I have a sensitive digestive tract too)

Dollartree is also a good source for cheap ponchos. We used and dumped in the trash also.

The one thing I was so happy to have brought was an extra pair of shoes. Actually two of them at my husbands insistance. I argued about it too! Ive got my little keds, they'll be fine, I said. Bring gym shoes, he said. He won. I knew I married that man for a reason! Just a note to everyone, little white keds are not made for 10 miles of walking a day!!! We had to go back after about three hours my feet hurt so badly. Then we got rained on and my shoes were soaked. Yep, you guessed it. Thats where my second pair came in. His foresight saved my trip!

We always go in Feb. and thus far have never needed major quantities of water. We've never taken our own and as hard as I've tried to remember, I dont think we've ever even bought a bottle of water. It must be different in the hotter months.

I do regret the ridiculous bag of snacks and treats I brought with us. We didn't touch them. We brought them to eat in the room to save a little money. Firstly, we were usually plenty full from our meals and secondly, we didnt want them compared to what we could get elsewhere. It was a waste of space.

No regrets

I'll admit that I was concerned about the water after reading so many negative comments, but we found it wasn't discernibly different from our tap water at home. I was using the bottles so that we could add ice to the resort or fountain water for a cooler drink, but as long as the kids drank from the fountains or their spray bottles, I left the bottles home after the second day.

There are so many posts about regrest for snacks - I have never regretted the two snacks that consistently seem to please that I bring in - but you must limit yourself because you ARE going to get that Dole Whip and you are going to get that Mickey Bar - I bring with us some cut up fruit and a rice crispy like granola bar from Trader Joes that's all natural. That's it. For my son on our last trip when he was one I had along a Suddenly Salad pasta salad - the kind that is not made with Mayonaise. He ate soo much of the fruit and the pasta salad all day long. I won't even be bringing the pasta salad this time - just fruit and rice crispy bars (they're not made with marshmallows).

Ahh I didn't know you had to pay to use the toilet in the parks :( ! I think that's awful, they make so much money from us at the parks as it is. Plus at Disneyland there isn't a charge. Is it like that at all the parks? IOA and Universal too?
I must remember to bring plenty of change.

You don't have to pay to use the restrooms. I believe she needed 50 cents for a "personal female product"!

I never regretted throwing a couple of small snacks in my pack. Kids always seem to get the "I'm going to die if I don't get something to eat right now" at the wrong time, i.e. standing in line or waiting for a parade. Somedays we use them some days we don't but they don't take up much room and have saved me from incessant whining on enough occasions.

Ponchos!!! Two for a dollar at the Dollar Tree and having been through some monsoons at WDW and having people offer to buy them from me, disn;t have extras but could have made a profit LOL, they always go in the pack. Toss 'em when we are done.

I have both regreted and been saved by water bottles and mister fans. Now that my kids are older they know that if they want them then they will have to carry them. Some days we do some we don't.

As far as bandaids and such don't forget there are first aid stations and they do a wonderful job. We've visited them a few times. ;)

Thank you MELSMICE for clearing that up for me ::yes::, I am such a goof sometimes :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:! I did think it was odd that I hadn't heard you had to pay for the restrooms, but did I put 2 and 2 together.....nope !

Correct, you do not have to pay for toilets. Something to catch...at the Affection Section in AK, the inside toilet stalls in the women's bathroom has reading material. "The Scoop on Poop" Just enough to occupy your time

A must have item for us is moleskin for those inevitable blisters/sore spots. I wear running shoes but after all that walking, I still get something. Moleskin will not come off like a bandaid will. I also need to bring in snacks for my kids. My DS8 absolutely is one of those kids that does so much better while waiting in line if he can snack on something. If we don't have a snack, I hope he makes a friend while in line - he's also one of those kids that loves to make friends everywhere he goes.

Definitely regretted not bringing ponchos.
And glow sticks.
And bottles of bubbles.
And water.
And snacks.
And a fold-up hair brush.

Never regret bringing our umbrella stroller - even though we're probably getting beyond the weight and height limit with our now 5 yr old DS - seems like you need a stroller the most is when you are outside of the park - for those quick rides to and from buses, monorail etc.

I regret bringing my bowling ball. After the first couple of hours my fingers started to ache and my arm went numb. By the end of the day..............just kidding.

We like to bring PEZ Mickey&Minnie. When the kids get bored in a ride line, we get them out. Also a small writing pad for doodling while in line.

We stayed off site and kept a small cooler in the trunk of the car. We filled with large frozen ice "chunks" I made in Gladcontainers (so they wouldn't melt so fast) Each adult and kid had a drink that stayed cold all day. I also packed a snack, so that when we made it to the car, everyone had a nice cool drink and a "junky" snack. It definitely helped with the trip home.

Each morning I packed the cooler and refilled the glad, so it was ready to go the next morning. I brought the containers along (the disposable kind, so they nested in my suitcase and I left them when we flew home. I also brought the soft cooler from home, and put the ice chunks in ziplock freezer bags, so they didn't leak so much.

I will always bring in our kids biggest backpack. We share caring it around so no one has to lug it all day. We carry alot in it. The kids autograph books, band aids, small package of wipes, extra film, water bottle or fan bottle. In one of the small pockets we carried all of the park passes. I find it very east to carry it around and would rather have what we need instead of having to buy it there.

Best thing we brought was the wipes and band aids. We used them both all the time. As for the band aids start using them early. My wife did not and she ended up with some very sore feet and shortened up some of our days.
