When my 11 year old son got into the car today to head to school I noticed he still had a fruit punch mustache from yesterday even though he took a shower today.

So I said "You need to wash your face better"

He replies "I don't wash my face"

I asked "Never, not even with a wet washcloth?"

Him "No"

You probably don't want to know what else he hasn't been washing...............

Well, you should make him wash his face. What kind of mother are you?

;) Just kidding! I just posted on your other thread & then saw this one!! :rotfl: This is actually so funny! But I am surprized he had school today. Everyone is off here for Columbus Day.

I'm the dad! So I will yell at my wife tonight:)

LMBO---I KNEW you were the dad when I read your response. Moms would lick their thumbs and started scrubbing!!!!:rotfl:

You know how all *men* are...;)

My DS9 isn't much better, We had a non washing incident with him a couple of months ago. When he sat next to me after his shower one evening something seemed off and then I realized that I didn't smell his shampoo(it's kids shampoo that is watermelon scented so it's very noticable right after he showers). I asked him if he washed his hair and he said yes, then i said "did you use shampoo"? He gave me a weird look, said absolutely nothing , got off the couch and went and took another shower. when he came out I asked him why he didn't use shampoo the first time and he said "I forgot". How could he forget and I wonder how many times he "forgot" to wash his hair or other parts. Gotta love boys!:)

I was a nanny in college to a family with 4 kids. Both of the boys went through the stink phase. The middle kid was the worst. He would go and take a shower and run the water and not even get wet. He would come out of the bathroom, in a towel, completely dry.

We seriously had to make him shower with the door open, and then do a smell check to make sure he used shampoo and soap. Thankfully he grew out of this phase.

:goodvibes So true....yesterday my ds14 ate a cherry snow cone during my dd11's soccer game. When I looked at him, he had a tiny red stain on the tip of his nose. I told him he had syrup on his nose and as I was saying it, I must have moved my hand toward my mouth because he quickly said, "Mom please don't lick your finger and try to wipe it." :rotfl: Honestly, I wasn't going to touch his nose, but I must have done it in times past. :thumbsup2

THANK YOU!!!

I thought it was just my son. It is our biggest fight right now. DH says not to worry, as soon as he becomes interested in girls he'll be in the shower for hours at a time. I don't think I'm looking forward to that either!!!

So we compromised. I said he must shower at least 3 times a week and change his underwear every day. He asked if he washes his feet in the sink, would that count??? :confused3

I can't stand it when my DS14 does this! Does he really think I can't tell? He'll come out with his hair barely damp, and I'll question him, he'll say "I dried it with the towel really well!" Yeah, right. He gets VERY defensive about it. Or his hair will still smell awful. For about a year, he showered in our bathroom (in the master bath, instead of the one in his room), and the level of liquid soap in the bottle would rarely change! When I would bring that up, the next day it would drop an inch! My other son, now 18, however, has always been meticulous about his personal hygiene, now REQUESTS haircuts regularly (seems like every two weeks :rotfl:) -- he's our family metrosexual. He doesn't spend hours in the shower, but he does shower every day (well, now that he's in college, he says there are days he rolls out of bed and runs to class, but he knows the difference) and takes very good care of himself. I wish the younger guy would learn!

But we have off next monday. Go figure.

Must be your school district because DD's have school all next week too. They are out the end of October and the first two days of November then have Veteran's day off. Then the week after that we're off to WDW!!! :cool1: :cool1::cool1: They're going to have a lot of short weeks in November! LOL

It's not just boys! My DD11 is the same way... I practically have to beat her into the shower every other day!

Thank God I'm not the only one!!!! I even had her basketball coach comment on it to me this spring, ugh.......... how embarressing.

I remember one girl in school who got teased so much about body odor. I do not want that to be my daughter.

I think I have it the worst! My DS 7 will take a 20 minute shower every single morning. Yet he only stands in the water - no soap, no shampoo, no face washing. So I have the water and electric bill of a showerer and the wet puppy smell too!

As a mother to 13 and 14 year old sons, I totally get it! Today was an orthodontist appointment and I absolutely cringe when the orthodontist and the assistant get onto him about his brushing (or lack thereof). My daughter wasn't like this when she had her braces.

We have had that EXACT conversation in my house:rotfl: As a matter of fact, yesterday both my DH and I noticed our 12 year old son's hair looked like it had product in it, but it wasn't, he just wasn't washing it properly  Now I have to smell the kids head like I smelled his hands when he was in pre-school. Another little gross discovery was the fact that my son and his friends seem to have decided as a group that minty gum is a suitable replacement for brushing their teeth :scared:

Boys are icky, wonderful, amazing & lovable but undeniably icky.pirate: I can't believe the things that have to come out of my mouth sometimes and I always ask him, "Tell me please why I have to say that out loud". I don't know what happens to them that turns them into something a girl would marry pixiedust::cool2: but I'm waiting patiently for the transformation.

My 11 year old daughter is the exact opposite, she showers every day without prompting and spends an hour getting ready for school in the morning which includes picking out the perfect outfit, straightening her hair then pinning it in some way that makes her happy.
