This is inspired by a post I just read that talks about being sad the summer is ending

I must be different somehow because I absolutely adore the changing seasons. The other day I was in the Dollar store and when I noticed all the little scarecrows my heart fluttered over all the new sights and sounds coming my way.

Good things about the fall:
The changing leaves crinkling under my feet
The smell of leaves burning
The familiar sounds of geese and ducks gathering to fly south for the winter
Apple picking and making apple pies
Seeing my breath in the morning air
Being able to take my hair out of a frizzy ponytail
Local High School Football games
Hot Chocolate
My favorite sweaters
High heeled boots

Anyone else want to add something?

Our area's Apple Harvest Festival. I look forward to it every year!

Pumpkin patches

Experiencing Halloween through my little one's eyes

Thanksgiving

Getting out my apple cinnamon and pumpkin scented candles.

And, oh yeah, PUMPKING PIE with extra whip cream!

Fresh apple cider from our local orchard.

I love Autumn! The only thing I hate is my kids going back to school. :sad1:

Gathering acorns and pine cones with the grandkids.

Fall is my favorite season. I love absolutely everything about it!

Fall is my favorite season!

The things I love about Fall are:

Cool crisp weather (sweatshirt weather!):yay:

Football :cheer2::cheer2:

Some of my favorite Yankee Candle scents are Fall scents:love:

This Fall I'm going to see U2, YEAH!!!!! :woohoo::banana::banana:

Halloween, Thanksgiving & Black Friday which means Christmas season will be coming

Fall Decorations

No more frizzy hair! :woohoo: :yay::banana::cool1:

Fall is my favorite season. My birthday is Sept. 28 so that probably colored my preference from a young age.

I love walking through the woods in the crunchy leaves.

Camping trips, waking up to cool mornings, building a small fire and eating eggs & bacon cooked outdoors. :thumbsup2

Thanksgiving!!

Listening to the HS band practice 3 blocks from my house

Sweatshirts

Corn stalks

LIttle bitty gourds

Halloween - DS's favorite holiday next to Christmas
that fall smell in the air, and the colors! :squirrel:
no more worrying about ticks :yay:
more money (My job is only during the school year.:teacher:)

I love your lists, I forgot one though. I love big pouffy spreads of hardy Mums in beautiful fall shades like rust, maroon and purple and my hands in the dirt as I switch my summer plants out to the stronger fall selections:goodvibes
Oh, and Candy Corn
Candy apples with the red stuff that sticks to my teeth
Hayrides
Ahhhh, can't wait:cloud9:

Oh I LOVE fall! My birthday is Sept. 10th so I too have a special place in my heart for the fall. We got married in the Fall.

We are a big Halloween family. Our neighborhood does it up BIG! (example 2 years ago we had a "wizard of oz theme complete with a real Hot Air Balloon doing lifts!- last year was a circus with a REAL TRAIN! fun fun fun)

Going outside with a sweater on. Taking walks. The beautiful changing leaves. It's the start of the holiday season.

Soccer games for my 1st grader!

What's not to love?

I agree with everything everyone has listed so far. Actually the only things I thought of that I didn't notice on here already are

-The shade of blue the sky turns during the fall and the angle of the light.

-Using the crockpot to have soup, stew or chili waiting for dinner in the evening with some fresh bread from the bread machine. (I know I could do that any time, but I don't during the summer so it feels like a fall thing when I start again.)

-Being able to have the windows open and giving the air conditioner a break - and having it actually feel comfortable.

The only reason I am sorry when the summer ends is because I miss the freedom of summer. Fall is my favorite season by far, though!

the END of 90 degree days :worship:

for me it's the END of 100 degree days! I am not a summer person at all. I don't like heat, I don't like the longer days. I like cooler temps and cloudier days.

also being able to use my oven and the house not feeling like I've been living in an oven afterwards.
Being able to step outside and not immeadiately start sweating
Halloween
my birthday; DH's Birthday
our wedding anniversary
the state fair!

The best part of Fall is the tourist's go home. Wait they come back for leaf peeping. Oh well it's still the best time of the year.....like I was telling DW this weekend "you know it's a great time of year when you have baseball and football to watch, plus golf).

FOOTBALL season!!!!!!!!!!!!! :cool1::woohoo::cool1::woohoo:
crisp, cool temperatures
leaves turning colors
warm apple cider

ETA: I agree with other posters. No more frizzy hair days because of summer humidity!
Also, it is our wedding anniversary.

Fall truly is my favorite time of year!!!!!!

The only part of summer I like is that I don't have to work for two months :thumbsup2

I love fall and winter. Give me a chilly day over hot and humid any day. I always tell people that when I'm ready to retire, I'm going the opposite direction. Most people here in NJ head to Florida, I'm heading north.

Oh I'm so excited reading this thread:goodvibes

My birthday is October 4th which is peak fall foliage here in Vermont. My favorite time of the year :lovestruc

What I love about Fall:

Colors of the leaves against the brightest of blue skies

Pumpkin patches, corn maizes

The BEST Yankee Candle scented candles glowing at home

Aroma of pumpkin bread, pie, apple crisp, caramel apples cooking

Cools temps :thumbsup2 Time for comfort food!!!

Decorating my house with corn stalks and mums

Our town's Applefest - yummy food, entertainment, craft shows

Wearing my favorite jeans, boots and warm sweaters

DH all excited about duck hunting

...and this year - my oldest DD will be turning Sweet 16

I love fall so much, and pretty much everyone has already listed pretty much. The apple foods, pumpkins, the sky's shade of blue, the colors, smells, gourds, sweatshirts, BOOTS, and it also means we're almost going to WDW!

Fall in the mountains - at the lake..:thumbsup2

After Labor Day, all the seasonal folks pack up and go home.. It's so quiet up here - you could hear a pin drop..:goodvibes

The trees are absolutely breathtaking when they change colors - so vivid it hardly looks real..

Decorating for the fall with my DGD - scarecrow; ghosts; pumpkins; and assorted other fall decorations..

Taking my DGD to the Harvest Festivals (just her and I) - along with going to the Apple Mill..:lovestruc

Walking on the beach - breathing in the nice, crisp autumn air..

All of the animals come out because the people are gone - deer; turkeys; bears; fox; etc..

Autumn scented candles - a must!

Campfires on chilly nights..

------------------------

Fall is probably my favorite time of year up here.. It's so beautiful I can't even describe it..:goodvibes
