Things to do with kids while in waiting in Line

We play imaginary hide and seek. One person has to imagine where they'd hide and by a series of yes and no questions everyone else has to figure out where the person is hidden. This is a great game cause you don't have to carry anything beyond your imagination.

The best advice is a touring plan that doesn't have you waiting in line.

Get to the parks early - at opening.

Use Fastpasses where possible.

Understand what lines are slow movers, and what moves right along. And don't get into line for something like Philharmagic when the room is empty - that means there is a whole ten minute show.....

Don't travel during "oh, my God, I think I just concieved that stranger's child" season.

Be willing to sacrifice an attraction if the line is just too long.

Do this, and you'll wonder why you bothered to haul pipecleaners and a little doodleboard through the parks every day.

Hello everyone, new to this part of the boards.

The bold part above made me laugh even though it's an old post and I really didn't get it - can someone please explain? :flower3:

TIA,

Bree

I spy.

"A my name is _____" game

Sing.

Goof around with cellphones.

Talk about what other rides we want to go on.

Big bottles of bubbles, sidewalk chalk, lightsaber duels, a ball to play catch with- those crazy balls you get in vending machines work great!- small water guns, spray fans, jumprope, jacks, hopscotch, tarzan- you know where the kids swing on the chains that make the lines- singing loudly is also great fun!:cutie:

j/k!:lmao:
I would just talk to the kids and plan your day so you are not waiting on long lines. We don't make spreadsheets or get to the park for opening but we will come back to a ride if the wait is too long. We usually get to ride everything we want with minimal wait times. Have a great trip!

I was reading this and was thinking omg this person is nuts, I hope I'm never near them in line lol! The sidewalk chalk is really what got me! lol

I think they mean when it's super busy and you end up pressed up against/bumping into people and getting up close and friendly because there is so many people and no where to walk!

I love this idea and will use it during our next trip. Thank you very much! :thumbsup2

We don't wait in really long lines, so that helps. While in a line, we talk about what we'll ride on next or something we just did--look for hidden mickeys--eat a snack--play I spy---clapping games---take goofy pics and then look at them---my DS uses music on an ipod to help him focus during the wait. He gets overstimmed very quickly and needs lots of small downtime breaks. Music works wonders and sometimes, a line is a good thing.

We also bring this thing cuz both kids love it. Target always has them in the checkout lanes for like, $6.99. http://www.amazon.com/Big-Time-Toys-Llc-YYY/dp/B001379GW2

We use the Brainquest flashcards wherever we are waiting somewhere (in lines, waiting for meals at restaurants, etc) They are pretty compact, held together, and easily slip into our diaper bag!

We played rock/paper/scissors once that ended up including the little girl next to us that didn't speak a word of English! I guess that game crosses all cultural boundaries!

The Mom/Dad/12 year old in front of us in line had a tiny 20 questions machine, where you think of something, and the machine guesses it. It was small enough to fit in a small back pack. Our munchkins are too small for this (7/5/2) but the other family loved it. I plan to bring one on my next trip.
