Things to do, places to stay near Kennedy Space

We would like to go to Kennedy Space centre on one of the sayd of our trip and have heard that there are some nice beaches near there.

We were thinking that maybe when we go to the space centre we might stay overnight somewhere near there. The question is where?

Has any-one stayed anywhere near the space centre, that you would recommend and are there any other places close to there that you would suggest going to?

Lovely beaches and stuff in the area, but it's only around an hours drive back, so why stay anywhere else???? We always do it as a day trip. KSC from morning to early afternoon, then a few hours beach then back to POP.

No idea with beaches, we prefer to sit by a pool but over that way we love spending a Sunday afternoon at Port Canaveral, we go here mid afternoon have a few drinks, listen to the live band & watch the fishing/leisure boats return then wave off the 3 cruise ships(Carnival, RCCL & Disney) http://www.grillsseafood.com/grills-seafood-location.php

RonJons surf shop just down the coast is well worth a look. It is huge and open 24/7
