We are coming to FW in January 2013 and it will be our 1st FW experience. Family consists of me, dh, dd (20), ds (10), and dd (7). We would like to spend a day or two not going to the parks but just enjoying some of the other attractions at Disney. When we've been to DW in the past it's always been with extended family and it's always been an "on the go" vacation. We'd like it a little more relaxing this time but don't want the kids to get bored. So what do you all think are some fun "non-park day" activiites? Thanks for the suggestions!

Great idea! Some of our best times have been quiet days outside the parks. :cool2:We like to mini golf at winter summerland or fantasia gardens. Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground offers archery lessons every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday to everyone 6 years old and older. (Took this description from Allears.net a good place to help get more information). We have done the archery a couple times and really enjoyed it. A surry ride at boardwalk after an diner at ESPN then staying around for the street performers has been a great way to spend a quiet evening. We also watch wishes fireworks and the electric water pagent right from the FW beach. The pool, bike rentals, checkers, tetherball, nightime movies are also ways we have spent family time without being on the run. Hope you have a great time and let us know how your planning goes and provide us with a trip report:thumbsup2

Since you will prob have a car. Gator Land. BYOHD . if you like gators it is a pretty cool place to visit. 1/2 day and $100. Bring your own hotdogs....

Mini golf at Fantasia Gardens and the little boats (whose names have apparently changed since my last trip, but used to be called water mice or water sprites) at the Poly :)

I liked the golf at Blizzard Beach better than Fantasia -- they were summer and winter themed (very pretty at night.) when I was there, there was a special of pay for 1st game and get the 2nd game 1/2 price.

carriage ride or rent a golf cart one night to see the other campers' lights & decorations

ride bikes around (also can ride bikes to Wilderness Lodge)

rent a surrey at the Boardwalk

the bowling alley in DTD will be open this fall

take a boat ride from DTD to Port Orleans (20 minute river boat ride)

there's free music entertainment 4 nights a week at Port Orleans -- I saw this about a month ago -- was kid friendly

bass fishing trip
