Things to do outher than disney

Well I'm glad you did because I am getting some ideas for our next trip. My husband says we can go for longer than 14 days as long as we go somewhere else for a few days.:) As it will be early December going off to the beach may not be the best idea, and the Keys would take me away fro the action for too long! So, exploring the surrounding area would be good!

What about kayaking amongst the dolphins? You can do that on either coast!
Visit the Dali museum in Clearwater?
There's an ice skating ring in Orlando? If you fancy that?
What about a day trip to St. Augustine (2 hour drive), and a trip on its trolley bus... you'll see some real Florida history!!

There are so many things to do other than the 'tourist' ones.
Good luck with your planning!
Wish I had the holidays to take a full three weeks!!

Paul,
Perhaps you could let us know what you decided to do - we're now thinking of an extra trip and are looking for non-park things to do.

hi maybe you would like to try going down to the keys like what were doing this year were going for 3 weeks and having 4 days down in the keys if you want to know where were going just ask xxxx

Hello,

If I may suggest, visit the website http://www.savethemanatee.org/adoptpag.htm for only a few dollars you can adopt a manatee and help save them from extinction but also you will get a discounted voucher so that when you have your holiday in Florida you can personally visit your adopted Manatee at Homosassa Springs on the Gulf Coast and spend a wonderfully peaceful day there and then perhaps drive down the coast to Tarpon Bay where Greek sponge fishing immigrants arrived in numbers and have transformed the town into a Greek fishing village

We're planning on a day trip to kennedy space centre and possibly Coco Beach(When dh went as a 12 year old to disney they stayed in Coco Beach so he wants to take the kids there.) Our friends will be in Sarasota at the same time and so looking forward to that.

I would like to know where you're going and what you plan doing.

We never do the keys as we go in summer and I dont like the idea of booking a break to the keys or down the gulf coast in case of strong winds.

As we're now considering a break over Christmas I was thinking of flying into Orlando and out of Miami but I'm concerned there isn't much to do for a 13 and 11 year old both of who like to do things every day. I might like a break to Fort Lauderdale (heard there's a large mall :) ) and DH wants to see Miami (but doesn't know why  ).

I also struggled to find accomodation as we really need more than 2 double beds.
