I am travelling with my DH, SiL MiL and FiL next March/April.
They all want to do a day trip to Kennedy Space Centre. I have no interest in going there what so ever... so I am going to spend the day solo!!

Does anyone have any tips on what to do and where to go solo?
Last trip DH got sunstroke so ended up in bed for a day, I went to AK but felt really lonely, I felt like the only person there on my own! However, now I have read some solo TR's people go alone all the time and have a whale of a time!! I now can't wait for my solo day, and since it will be the only day I can plan (the inlaws don't want to plan too much, but want to spend time together :crazy2:) I want to plan it to the max!!

Try a spa treatment at one of the Disney Spa's or check out DTD for some retail therapy.

Try a tour or a spa treatment at SSR (GF spa is currently closed while they are building GFV)

Also I like to just go in to MK do what I want and people watch :goodvibes

first off, KSC is really very interesting!!
but if you don't want to go, i would go on a tour!

there are so many interesting tours to choose from.

when i did a solo trip two years ago, i did 7 different tours!!! what fun!!

the tours are so expensive, we rarely go on them as it just costs so much for all of us - though we have done the segway around the world tour twice as well as behind the seeds..

but on my solo trip i did dolphins in depth, aqua seas tour, backstage safari, segway at fort wilderness, undiscovered future world, backstage magic, and nature by design and had a great time on all of them :)

This is very true, I am not a fan of space and the universe but have to say KSC is amazing, very humbling I found it, so might be worth looking into it a bit more????

My parents went as part of a cruise they booked, neither have the slightest interest but actually found it amazing.

Ohhh what a good idea :) DH wants to do the behind the seeds tour, but isn't much bothered by the others. I would love to meet some dolphins

I have been to KSC about 3 times now, last time was probably 10 years ago. I loved it as a kid, but as an adult it is not my cup of tea... plus a day away from the inlaws might be very much needed before I go crazy!

so sign up for the dolphins in depth...
you don't get to swim with them, but you do get to pet them and meet them up close...
you're standing in thigh deep water and the dolphin swims up to you..
plus they teach you a lot about the dolphins...

the other tour i did in the living seas was the aqua tour...in that one, you actually swim inside that big gigantic aquarium and get to wave at the people inside the living seas who are looking through the big windows at you..
it's called snorkeling, but you actually have on a scuba tank but without a weight belt so you don't sink down.....lots of fun!!

in october, i'll be there on my own for the first week, so i'm going to do the wild africa trek and maybe the backstage magic one again.....and maybe the aqua seas again....

oh yes know where you are coming from there:rotfl: Infact I would prob plan a few more solo days!:)

Personally KSC is not my cup of tea either but will go again this time to see the two new area's that have opened up. But have been know to wait in the cafe while DH takes his time doing everything. Thank goodness for IPOD's!

I think the suggestion of doing a tour sounds fab. What about doing that segway tour at Epcot..that looks fun as you go around world showcase before it opens up to everybody else. Then treat yourself to a fab restaurant for lunch and maybe a spa treatment later in the day.

Blimey I think I might book a solo holiday, its beginning to sound very appealing:rotfl:

The segway tour at Epcot is a lot of fun!!
Actually every tour I've been on at wdw has been interesting and fun!!

Having had plenty of solo days on days off whilst working in the most magical place on earth, my advice would be to go on a resort tour as there is so much to see!

You can really take your time and soak everything up as there is so much to see! Try Wilderness Lodge as the grounds are beautiful or have a look around the Boardwalk and the surrounding resorts.

That way if you have restricted park tickets you don't use up any without the family.
Enjoy!

I would go on one of the tours for sure. They all look like so much fun and definately good for solo Disney go-ers. I would then perhaps do some shopping in DTD or Epcot World Showcase. Then maybe end the day with a spa treatment and cocktail by the pool or Dessert party at MK. Have Fun!

Well this time I am going solo and I can't wait, to do things I want to do at my pace:) I would advise for one solo day pick your favourite park and take time out to look at stuff you usually miss when rushing to get in line for the rides.

I like to hit a park in the morning, eat where I want for lunch, before I then go to the spa followed by the pool... with a pool bar!

I've done one tour on my own and it's OK but I prefer taking them with friends to be honest.

The other thing I like to do is get in the car and go shopping all day at the mall without having to justify my purchases or seeing lots of eye rolling as I declare that I would like to go back to the shop that we were in just an hour earlier!

Hi - how lovely for you! DH and DS having an afternoon at DQ when we go next year and I am even looking forward to that! I will be at DTD, in the shops and sipping a frozen concoction by the lake! If I had longer I would do a tour of the monorail hotels. I would love to have time to wander round the big three hotels on my own browsing round the shops, wandering around the grounds and having a peaceful drink or lunch in every one. Have fun whatever you decide to do:wave2:

I'd just go to Epcot, have a few drinks and just soak up the atmosphere. But then epcots my fave park.
