Hi Shaun :) I'll ask my sister who lives near Welwyn.

I'll report back!

i live about 10 mins from Hatfield. There is a shopping outlet centre there, but really isn't as good as it used to be... but still might find a few bargains!

I live in Hatfield. The jaipur is nice for indian but if you want more traditional food the crooked chimney at Lemsford is nice.

Looks like we're staying in the exotically named Ramada Jarvis Comet next to The Galleria Shopping Mall

Know it well I live just down the road. I'd catch a cab to St ALbans 6 miles down the road loads of pubs and decent restaurants carluccios etc

Yes, St Albans has got lots of restaurants, pubs etc or if you wanted to go the other way out to the countryside, a couple of pubs that have been recommended are The Horns at Datchworth and the Woodman at Wild Hill (Essendon way).

The Galleria used to be a state of the art shopping mall but sadly it went bust and is now very average.

As one who know the Ramada Jarvis Comet in Hatfield far to well having spent every Mon-Thurs there for 6 months recently, I thoughly reccommend going to St Albans for restaurants and bars.

I did not use the restaurant at the hotel very much as I felt that the food was expensive and of poor quality (even though it wasn't me picking up the bill)

Hi Mark!

Thanks for the info - why "having spent every Mon-Thurs there for 6 months recently"

Business or pleasure?

Bonzo,

It was business the company I work for has it's head office in Hatfield and I was dragged (sorry asked ) to come down from Manchester to work on a project.

Mark
