Things to do at/near AKL at night?

I have a day planned when hubby and I are in Animal Kingdom all day, then have a 6:30 pm dinner at Jiko. Figure we'll get to AKL right after park closes @5:00 so we can see some of the animals before it is pitch dark (this is early December).

Can anyone suggest some fun/interesting things to do there, or near there, AFTER dinner? We don't really want to take transportation all over creation since we'll have to head back to the Swan later anyway. I was going to schedule a sleigh ride from Wildnerness Lodge but I see that WL is basically at the other end of DisneyWorld. We will already have been to a MVMCP, an evening of Epcot/MGM/Boardwalk, and a hotel-romance night is already planned for another evening!

I've heard there's an African storytelling session each night - outside if the weather's nice, inside if not. I'm not sure I've heard of anything else..... AKL seems to be distant from everything except AK, which will be closed by the time you're talking about.

There is a fireside story teller at AKL in the evenings. There is also special viewing of the animals using night vision equipment, I believe. HTH

The night vision goggles are really awesome !! The CMs (wonderful young people from all over Africa ) are stationed back behind the pool and flamingo pond (at least that's where they were in June)
Check the activities board next to the valet/luggage desk (to the left of the front door as you enter the lobby) - there was also a musical parade each evening (with African instruments) for the children that started in the gift shop and marched all around the lobby, back to the gift shop - DNeph LOVED it !

That sounds great, I guess we'll make an evening out of AKL. Does anyone know if the Winter/Summerland mini golf is VERY nearby, or only sort of? Like, can you walk there, or drive there in just a few minutes?

Winter/Summerland mini golf is not too far from AKL, but, you really can't walk anywhere from AKL. I'd say it would take about 5/10 minutes drive time......no more.

Winterland/Summerland is a short distance and if you check with the lobby they can tell you which bus to take to get there and from the golf course you can ask and they will make sure you can get transportation back to your hotel. It is a fun course. My Dh and I did the summer one last March.
