Things that will make you YAK - A Trip Report **TWO NEW 01/25 Pg 11**

YAK!!!!

I can only assume that I've never posted a comment on your report since there is no check by it on my Trip Reports title page.

:confused3

And I've read the whole freakin' thing! And never posted. What a loser.

It's so fun to read the reports of folks you've actually met. And, of course, those you haven't, too. But I've enjoyed your story and I'm sorry that I haven't posted sooner.

But I've gotta admit something. I don't get it. What the heck did the lady by the pool do? Is it as bad as what I'm thinking? Please. Help a sistah out.

Have a good day!!

NM :sunny:

I was going to type "YUCK", but then decided it just had to be "YAK"!! I had already heard this disgusting story from you and Gram at the MK on Sunday, but thanks, really, for reminding me. I was kinda full from dinner anyway. Now I feel MUCH better. ;)

And, yes, I must comment that the goodie bags (yep, Kim, I got one too!!) were the most ut. I still have mine, minus the candy and the lei, which I was wearing as a bracelet, and have misplaced someplace (probably in my suitcase). I actually almost brought it with me to the "Boston Meet" last week to give to Kim....but forgot it!!! Great job, oh Canadian princess! Looking forward to the next "non-fiddler paying" installment!! (Can you imagine being hung over in that heat?!)

Thanks for the salt in the wound, Ash. I was almost over it and now I need to get back to therapy.

Hey all - thanks for reading.

Sorry about the last YAKey chapter.

I tried to write it in such as way as to not make anyone YAK.

For those who don't know.

What the woman did was:

(highlight below if you want to know)

Vomit.

Big time!

Sorry, dear readers.....Procrastination is my middle name!!
___________________

When we left off, I was trying my best NOT to find out where the YAKey family was from. I really didn’t want to know. In case they turned out to be my neighbours. From home. :scared1: Probably not. My neighbours clean up their YAK!

There also has been some rumour that K ended up coming down to the Hippy Dippy and saving me from the YAKey’s and we ran into Sher along the way. But alas, dear readers I didn’t take my own advise and didn’t take any notes. So that part will have to remain a Maelstrom mystery.

K and I decided that this would be sleep in day. No obnoxious Stitch wake up calls!

And no early morning running with sparkly shoes…..free food or not!!

Once we decided to get up around 8ish, it was off to the POP food court to introduce K to that wonderful “stand-in-line-until-your-food-is-cold” breakfast experience! I really like the POP but be warned that if you would like a nice quiet HOT breakfast do not go to the POP food court! It’s a Zoo! We got our food and finally found a table…..and low and behold it was right near Jami, Haley, Little Haley, Horsey and GRAM. I think it’s some sort of weird Maelstrom Magnet thing…..we seem to gravitate together.

After breakfast K and I were heading over to MK and to the very special Haunted Mansion mini-meet in honour of one of our founding Vikings, Mel Happy Haunt.

Mel.jpg

Horsey was headed that way so we offered her a ride in the YAK-mobile.

Horsey should have taken notice of Jami famous words, “Never get into a car with another Viking” (or something like that……I didn’t write it down!)

I got lost again. Headed straight for the Animal Kingdom, again. But this time I thought I’d be smart and do a highly illegal U-turn right by the AK park. I was a tourist. From another country. What did I know about illegal driving procedures! :teeth: I think I scared the YAK out of K and Horsey. No worries, the other car stopped!!!

Anyway we made it safe and sound (!) to the MK and decided this time to take the boat!!
Once inside the gates we headed over to the HM.

The first Maelstromers I saw were Mark, Rhonda and Wesley, so I knew we were in the right place. For the mini-meet! I got to know M/R&W at a mini-meet lunch in Georgia in the summer. Great to see you again!

Introductions were made for those of us who hadn't met yet, and Hi's to those we had. Unfortunately the organizer of this event could not make it. She was delayed at the Poly. For more, see Frickles trip report.

A very nice CM offered to take our picture. But we hadn't figured out the "one camera and email the photo around" theory yet. So it took awhile. With many camera's. Some of us started to melt. Facing the Florida sun. I personally didn't think it was that HOT. It was nice, sunny and we were meeting in Disney!

DisneyOct06035.jpg

After the photo op we entered to ride.....

I snuck a stealth photo in the stretch room

DisneyOct06036.jpg

(Was Rhonda getting ghosted??)

And got busted….."No flash photo’s – the ghosts are shy”…..or something like that. This was right before Horsey "ghosted" Mark....for more on that, see Ashclan's TR - Dorkapolooza.

We rode, laughed, talked, brushed our hair, took pictures, picked up hitchhikers and basically grim grinning ghosts came out to socialize.

It was fun!

We said our goodbyes to some of the group, and another bunch of us decided to continue to ride together.

Off to SPLASH!!!

How do you do?
Mighty pleasant greetin’
How do you do?
Say it when you’re meetin’
How do you do?
With every one repeatin’
Pretty good sure as you’re born.

This experience by far was one of the highlights of the trip. There were 11 of us in total. And score! It was a walk-on!

You can hurry on now if you must.
We’ll do what we like, “cause….”
That suits us.

K, GRAM and I happened to be in front of the 11 talking all the way. About…………ah never mind. One of our motto’s has become, what goes on at Disney, stays at Disney.

Except if it's appropriately written in a TR!!

The weather is good,
The fishin’ is fine
What do we do
With all of our time?

When we got to the cast member he asked, “how many”, I said "6 and 5 – 11 total." He said "OK all go to the front". I figured each log held 8 maximum, so we’d have to ride in two groups. The CM said otherwise.

Well we sit and we think
And we wiggle our toes.
That’s what you ask us.
That’s what we know!

We all crowded into one log. Horsey, GRAM and I in the front. K, Kimmie and Doug. Then Ashclas and J and in the back Mark, Rhonda and Wesley.

Now, we aren’t exactly Pooh sized people but there is some doubt as to whether 3 adults should be allowed to sit in one row. And 6 of those in the first two rows!!

I don’t think Kimmie was able to actually sit.

I was trying to do “maelstrom” math – which by the way is always way wrong – and figured we might have at least ¾ of a ton of humans in that log.

How much weight does a log hold anyway?

Stop jumpin’ around
You’ll run out of breath!
Why don’t you sit back
And calm yourself?
Pretty good sure as you’re born
.

Off we went.

I believe we scraped the bottom at the first turn.

And laughed about it!

Time to be turning around.
Time to be turning around.
Here’s lookin’ for
A little more adventure.
But WE’s headed for.
A little bit of trouble.
WE’s headed for
A little bit of danger.

Throughout the ride there are a few opportunities to get wet. Not so much from the drops but at other times. We got wet at every drop. Not because you are normally supposed to but because of the tsunami effect from the weight.

Ha Ha Ha Ha,
Ho Ho Ho!
Boy are we in luck!
We’re visiting our Laughing Place
Yuk Yuk Yuk Yuk Yuk!

Gram, Horsey and I got soaked!

I will say the climb to the big drop was a bit scary. I’m not sure what was said, but I kept thinking would anyone care if the CM’s were doing an experiment on us to see how much weight the log could hold?

We were about to find out!

Time to be turning around!!

It was so much fun! The best! Mostly because I was with my new cyber friends. A Grand Gathering for sure!

Laughing is how we spend our day.
Plenty ‘o fun is what we make.
Boy are we in luck.
We’re visiting out Laughing Place.
Yuk Yuk Yuk Yuk Yuk!

After we exited the ride we all went to see "the" picture.

Disney could have made a huge pile of cash as we were all prepared to buy the keepsake photo. But it got “Splashed away” Someone did something! Could it have been that Kimmie wasn’t exactly able to sit throughout the ride? Was it that my hat flew off and hit K in the face? Was it that the splash was just too much? Was it Zzub up to his old tricks? Or was it Mark?????
We'll never know….

Don’t you go to the Laughin’ Place
Or the fox will get you too!

So we just had to recreate the Photo for everyone to see.

Zip-a-dee-doo-dah, Zip-a-dee-ay!
Wonderful feeling, wonderful day!

After Splash we decided to embark on another Maelstrom Voyage....to Pirates!

We had fun talking and taking “flash” photo’s….hee-hee. One cannot resist a nice picture of Jack. (Mine didn't come out so well....oh well!)

After being dropped at the Pirates dump shop, K and I decided that we were going to get back to our schedule. So we parted the group, with wet butts and sore cheeks. Our faces that is. From laughing so hard!

We decided to leave the MK and head over to Animal Kingdom. K wasn’t really into riding rides, she wanted to just to check things out and get a taste of the park.

Aside – I had hurt my shoulder on our arrival day and it was starting to really bother me.

Solution: Dinosaur.

Who knew that a ride could save many dollars on Chiropractor fee’s.

I told K we just had to ride. It is one of my favourites!

And all the jerking put my shoulder right as rain!

We ended our day at AK with the Safari. K really enjoyed this and thought it was well done – except the Little Red part. Kind of hokey! And it is. But something for the kids, I guess.

After AK – I wanted to show her Animal Kingdom Lodge. The YAK family stayed there when it first opened and it remains one of my favourite all time hotels.

We valet parked the YAK mobile. Manny wasn’t on duty….whew! (See Frickles report) and it was here that we found out that if you valet park your car once – it’s good for all valet parking throughout the rest of the day! Bonus!

We also realized that in all the excitement at MK that we hadn’t eaten in awhile so we grabbed some free food at Mara.

We toured around the AKL and decided it was time to go back to get ready for our ADR at Spoodles. K hadn’t been to the Boardwalk so this was a good opportunity to show her more of Disney! I believe her head was about to explode at this point...hee-hee!

After a brief POP stop, it was on to the Boardwalk. We “free” valet parked the car – thanks CM “NOT Manny” :)

Spoodles was OK. Just OK. Our waitperson was very nice, but not great. She didn’t exactly get our orders right and and the food was just a bit below average. Oh well. I did have a thought about trying to get into the Cali and surprise the other Maelstromers who were dining there that night.

Shoulda, woulda, coulda....

After Boardwalk we tried to get into ESPN for a drink, but there was a line up, so we decided to head back to POP and call it a night.

We were way too tired. And we had a special tour scheduled for tomorrow before the “official Maelstrom meet”

So it was back to the POP. No stop at the Hippy Dippy!

Good Viking’s aren’t we?

We didn’t leave anyone behind!

And, thank goodness – not a YAKer in sight!

Upnext: A segway and a Meet!

Yak!!! Can I tell you how badly I wanted to be at the Haunted Mansion with you all! I love the illegal pictures!!! :thumbsup2

Horsey should have taken notice of Jami famous words, “Never get into a car with another Viking” (or something like that……I didn’t write it down!)

I'm Ded!

Great chapter sister!

YAK, I agree, great chapter. Sounds like you all had so much fun!

Can't wait till the Monday report!!!!

Sounds like a blast!
I wonder why the photo was washed away???? That type of thing makes me nuts  . I think the reinactment was just as good...with Photo Shop you can create a log and water and everything! No one'd know.

I love reading the different perspectives of all the Vikings!

Yak -- Another great report. Like the new pictures too.

I don't like the Little red story either. It gets pretty old when you have done it once.

It was "Never get in a car with your internet friends." Jami DID write it down! On the table covering at Cali Grill! I'm not sure she was the one who said it originally, but she definitely wrote it down.

Yak-- where are you? Frozen, snowed in ? Cross Border shopping?

Whew - now we are all caught up.

Clear the roads and pathways....YAK and K's excellent "Around the World" adventure

Today is Monday and it's another beautiful Disney day.

Stitch woke us up prompty at 6:30am. No time for breakfast - we ate whatever gross finding we had in the room, because we were on our way to tour the World.....Segway style!

K & I booked ourselves a Segway tour and we had to be there promptly at 8am for our 8:30 tour and I was not going to be late. This time.

We drove the YAK mobile over to Epcot and parked right up front. I was a little sad because I remember the days when a parking spot really close to the gates was a big score. Not anymore, except to us few who still like the convenience of our own vehicle. It's special, not the norm, the minority - the uncola!

K was suitably impressed with the entrance area of Epcot. The Leave the Legacy tiles and the Big Golf Ball is usually a wonderous sight to a Newbie. They ponder what's really inside the big ball and if you can actually go in! Later.

We arrived right on time to Segway.

I tried to do a little segue for myself by asking if I can run over to The Land to get fast passes for Soarin' before we start.

The CM thought I was crazier than I looked.....and gave me one of these

We proceed over to Innovations West area where you can sample ride the Segways. We received a little briefing about the Segway and watched a promotional video. All along the way our CM was warning us that at any time if we weren't comfortable with riding, please say so. There is no shame in not doing the tour.

Huh?

I'm a good driver.

Just ask K and Horsey!!!

Once the formalities are over they take you to practice on the inside course. Up and down, stop, start, turn, dosey doh!

Take it from me, it's not as easy as it looks.

You accelerate and stop with your feet. But with a very small movement. You turn with the handle on the right - twist forward for right turn, back for left. And if you want to stop you lean back and stand straight up.

Got it?

It's all about balance.

Which, if you over endulged the night before or are over tired for any reason....I wouldn't recommend Segwaying.

After about 45 minutes of training - we were off. They wisely set the speed limit to 5 mph maximum - which is a good thing. If you try to go too fast the computer will lean the Segway back in order to slow you down. This is very important.

It was now about 9:45am and the WS is closed to the public. The CM's are getting everything washed and cleaned for the days guests. It is so cool to be in an empty park.

We headed toward our first stop, China. With huge smiles on our faces. And lovebugs between our teeth

Right before China there is a little bridge along the main walkway. We were all cruising along at top racing speed - 5 mph - when the downhill portion of the bridge caused me to go over the speed limit. The Segway computer said, "Hang on YAK, this isn't Test Track" and leaned me back. I was moving forward but the foot platform was at a serious 45 degree back.

(You'll have to try it someday to see what I mean)

I panicked!!

I couldn't stop and my first instinct was to jump off.

The last words our CM told us was under no circumstances do you ever jump off!!!

I was screaming like a little girl - not in a good way.

Then one our our fellow Segwayer's came up beside and and said, "stand up straight"

Mommy, was that you???

Oh, I was at Epcot

On a Segway

So I did what I was told and it stopped.

Crisis over.

No YAK-splat! Segway and YAK all in one piece

DisneyOct06059.jpg

We donned our head-gear again and we were off to explore the World Showcase.
Our Segways took us on a little tour of of each of the countries outside of North America (no Canada or Mexico) Our Segway CM told us a little about each pavillon and we rode around all the little pathways that hardly anyone ever walks on!

Segway!!!

We stopped for photo ops in Italy and time to play around by ourselves a bit.

K & I

DisneyOct06058.jpg

We ended our Segway tour back at Innovations just as the general public was entering WS. The looks from the people were worth the cost of the tour. We felt so special! Even in our dorky helmets.

Segue....

Up Next: A very special Maelstrom meet.

That sounds SO fun!!!!! I cant wait to try that! What happens when you jump off? YIKES! Is there a drink holder? :cutie:

YakSplat :rotfl2: Now that's funny right there!

Yak you look so cute in your head gear.

That looks like fun but I am a clutz and can't walk straight at times. I would have been the one jumping off too or falling off:lmao:

Glad your back, probably out enjoying the nice weather we have been having. It is freezing today and your back:thumbsup2
