Things that they took from you at the airport?

Jams and sauces in jars and bottles will not make it through, nor will peanut butter, nor will sauces and condiments, even in tiny packets. (Unless you put the packets into your 3-1-1 baggie, that is.) Solid snack foods will go through, though really large chunks of things like fudge or vacuum packed coffee will be hard to see through on the x-ray, and will cause the bag to be opened and swabbed for explosives.

Guess I will have to rethink buying Kona coffee.

You had the guy I had... He wanted to take away my numeric keypad for my laptop. That one went on FOREVER! He wanted it to "do something" It won't do ANYTHING unless it's connected to a laptop which of course he would not ALLOW me to touch. IDIOT kept saying "I never saw one of the these before" So after calling over his supervisor I was FINALLY allowed to take the thing with me. Walked in the FIRST giftshop past security and what do they sell? Yes, those keypads. I nearly bought one to SHOW the IDIOTS!

:rotfl: I bought one for my laptop too because I find it easier to use than the numbers at the top of the keyboard. I've had people ask me what the keyboard does as well :goodvibes

The story reminds me of when I first bought a digital camera and airport security didn't really want to let me through with it. I think because I had a slightly different design - the camera was really slender and had a lens that slid open (instead of extending) on the top left of the body. He didn't believe it was a camera :rotfl:

Oh, you can buy the coffee, just expect it them to take a hard look at the bag. If it is on top and still sealed they will see what it is when they open the zipper and probably not bother swabbing.

Funniest discussion I had about a "dangerous device"? A bungee cord, one that I had specially purchased for flying because it has plastic hooks rather than metal. (I use it to strap a carseat onto my rollaboard). I got a VERY stern lecture about how next time they would take it away because I could use that to tie someone up. Yeah, the next time I need to truss up a hostage I'll be sure to use a cord that *stretches* to do it! :rolleyes1 FTR, that guy was just being a PITA, because I fly with that bungee all the time and no one else has ever questioned it.
