things that get love on this forum that you actually hate

I'm going to say cruising. I get so severely seasick that I will never be able to enjoy cruising, but most people LOVE it. I also don't like not having control of being able to leave. If you decide you want to get home like *now* but it's day 2/10 day trip and not an emergency, you can't just pack up and leave.

Also the reason why I rent from National Car Rental...I'm a control enthusiast lol

Not really ‘hate’ but something that I just don’t get…Staying in a DVC Studio…how much different is it than a regular room? It’s just my husband and me and we always stay in a 1Br…it’s why we’ve never stayed at the Poly…
Also paying $45. per person for breakfast!!!! (Looking at you Topolinos) That’s just not something I could justify…same with dessert parties…I just don’t get the appeal…

I've never understood the appeal of DVC studios either. Smaller rooms than resort rooms with only one bed? I mean, I GUESS you get a microwave and a sink you can wash your clothes in, because you don't get the washer/dryer either. Seems like a terrible value, to be honest.

We almost always stay in studios. We travel just the 2 of us so I would much rather have extra floor space than another bed that we won’t use.
Terrible value? A 1 bedroom is literally more than double the points of a studio. I fully admit that 1 bedrooms are much nicer/roomies with a lot more amenities but for me personally, I would rather be able to stay twice as long in a studio than “waste” points on a 1 bedroom.

Yeah - the points for a 1Br are definitely skewed way too high in relation to studios or even 2 BRs….

I travel to experience new places, I don't want to do days at sea or need to worry about getting back to the ship in the evening and not be able to experience cities at night.
We may do a Greek Isles cruise at some point, as that seems like the easiest way to manage a trip between all the islands. It looks like there are options for that that don't include any days at sea, too.

I'm going to say cruising too, but mainly in Europe and those Caribbean cruises DCL does where it goes to Nassau, their private islands and nowhere else. The 3 day private island cruises just look really boring to me and their price tags are laughable, but I get that you're paying for the "Disney difference". For European cruises, I dislike the amount of "at sea" days and idk, I just prefer doing a land trip when I'm in Europe. I like being able to explore on my own and I feel like the itineraries are too restrictive for my touring style. That's just my opinion though.

I have to agree, not with the cruising, but the need for a vehicle while on Vacation. After reading about how great it was to take the Prison bus from the airport and into the resort for an extended stay I decided to try it once when Disney was doing spectacular deals on staying at POP Century. First thing was that the room was so small that you had to go outside to change your mind and I was stuck there. I had to rent a refrigerator to keep my drinks cold and once they delivered it I couldn't even open the door completely because it would hit the fridge.

That aside I went stir crazy. I don't drink and had to walk a quarter mile to get to a smoking area (I had to have some vices) I don't smoke anymore but back then it was my only crutch. After 7 nights and 6 days I was alike an Olympic runner waiting for the gun to fire. I vowed I would never do it again and haven't.

I don't understand the draw, it was anything but fun for me. The ride back in the buses loaded with sweaty people standing room only, was less than enjoyable as well. People think it takes longer to get out to the car and back to where you might be staying, even onsite are kidding themselves and have proved it many times with friends that stayed onsite when I stayed offsite. I always got back to my room sometimes before they even got on the bus back to theirs.

About 6 years back I took a ten day Celebrity Cruise from Rome to Fort Lauderdale. The first days were in the Mediterranean with 5 Ports of call and then straight across the Atlantic. I loved every second of it. I'd do it again if the occasion arose.

The Disney Bubble. I don’t want 24 hour immersion. I want a quiet, clean hotel where I can catch my breath and decide when to get back into the mouse race.

I actually quit this forum for a couple years for a much-needed break. Fell off the wagon, so here I am again.

If I had to say one thing, it's "sunshine pumping" of absurd new Disney rules/etc by people that travel alone or in very small groups. I.e., "I've never had a problem getting on xyz," when they have one person versus your family of 5 or whatever.

But hate is a strong word. ;-)

Disney cruises - I much prefer other lines.

DW and I have a MCS Yacht Club 7 day Western very soon and much rather MSC YC than DCL Concierge or RCL Sky or NCL Haven or others at this time.

I just priced 7 day for 2024 with DCL Concierge @ $10,000+, a RCL Grand Suite @ $8,000+ and a MSC YC @ $4,900. with Butler 24/7 there if you want, FULL Drink and WiFi, their Ocean Cay Island RESERVE unlike any other Cruise Line's Island plus more.

I think that my studios are a great value. With my DVC ownership, it comes out to be around $75 a night at SSR in a studio. And since I usually travel solo or with just my daughters, who don't mind the couch, it works great for us.

I'm glad you had a good time. A trip like that wouldn't be my cup of tea IMO. I would prefer to visit less cities but spend more time in them.

Are you not including the cost of your initial buy in or something? Why the heck would Disney sell a product that makes a stay at a "deluxe" resort only cost $75/night? How would that be a solid business plan?

I have already got my money's worth from the initial buy in and so only have the annual fees. My 2 trips, totaling 30 days at Aulani paid for my initial buy in. So what I would have paid cash for those rooms, is what my buy in cost was. I am not sure you realize how DVC works.

I do know how it works.
