I think it's rather silly to put a stereotype on people who take band/music as a class. I find there's the 2 types of people, people who think music is a slack class, and people who really love music and are talented with an instrument. Those who take it for slack, at least right now I find, are those who aren't really taking into consideration what they want to do. Just what will give them the least amount of work/stress.

At our school we dont have a problem deciding who the funds go to. We have no funds. Each club/sport has to come up with their own money to buy the things they want. If the club members arent willing to work for new things, they get nothing.

I think it's ridiculus that our english classes are incredibly long and we get more homework, because we get nothing done in class, because we have a bunch of idiots in my english class that think its funny to frustrate our teacher and make it so we get nothing done. Ugh unlike some people I want to actlually graduate without having redone a year.

I think its ridiculus how people steryotype me because of how I look and who I hang out with. People never stop and consider that I might actually be an A+ student because I have alot of "popular" friends and I dont dress "nerdy"

1. Why in the hell does school put so much towards band but nothing to sports? We have "posture changing" chairs, brand spanking new, but our field hockey team hasn't gotten new uniforms in 12!!! years.

2. Why isn't the school doing anything about being on corrective action? We are so far behind it ain't funny.

LAZY.

I played clarinet in Orchestra for a few years. My posture was flawless-standing, sitting in a folding metal chair, orchestra chair, on the floor, walking, etc.

Band shouldn't need any posture chairs, those kids should learn to sit/stand on their own.

I had a director that put books on our heads and made us play, if we were slouching, and this would be in regular metal folding chairs.

I just think it's rediculous how much funding goes into athletics and how little goes into the arts.

Maybe at your school it's different, but it's not like that at mine.

Football has a slightly higher budget than the rest of the teams, but they also have the boosters club. Everybody complains about how much money they have, but they don't realize that it's mostly donations from people and concessions. Each team gets their night on the main field for concessions, too. They rotate. One night football, then field hockey, then soccer and so on. Except Volleyball, but we don't really need a bigger budget so we're fine with that.

Our new school has a very, very nice auditorium complete with super plushy theatre style seats. It's used for our contemporary dance classes and in-school band rehearsals. It's got a $100,000 projection/video system so that classes can watch films in conjunction with other classes (ie: an entire block of english- usually 4 or 5 classes- can watch "Hamlet" at the same time). It's got a sound system that has no rival in a 50 mile radius as well as the most wonderful acoustics ever- if everybody is quiet, you don't need a mic. The Band performs 4 or 5 times a year there and drumline even more often. The Chorus performs in conjunction with band.

So you could say it's pretty even at my school.

What doesn't make sense to me is why we have plasma TVs in every room (including 2 in the cafeteria).

Many of those "dumb football players" at my school are in honors/AP and/or almost done with their credits halfway thru junior year.

I KNOW! Some of my school's "dumb jocks" are the smartest kids around! One of our hockey stars is my class' salutitorian (second highest GPA).

People who are active, speak a second language (and yes, music counts here), and pay attention are the smart ones. I know plenty of dumb bandies who would love nothing else than to sit around, have sex, and smoke pot all day. While I know football players who work 2 jobs to help pay rent and maintain a 3.5 GPA.

I think it's ridiculous how our referendum could've won for the new track we want. But, the only reason it lost is because of 200 votes from our town.

Those 200 votes are probably all the senior citizens. Because of them, we can't have new bleachers, a new track, or new lights.

Our track floods when it rains, it's made of gravel kinda. We want astroturf though.

Now they're holding the referendum again.

are you talking about a Track or a Football Field? for a track, what you want is all-wather rubber. Astroturf for the field portion is ok, but for the actual track, I wouldn't go with it.

Astroturf is a grass-like substitute. You tend to see it on fields where sod/grass maintenance would be too costly.

All-Weather Rubber is ideal for tracks. It's got good grip so you won't slip while you're running, and it's very resistant to harsh weather (like heavy rain/snow/whatever). The inner portion of a track (inside the oval) is usually a football field and that's great to have Astroturf on. Otherwise, spikes will tear it to pieces.
