I am going for a job interview/chat tomorrow for the position of a Sports Masseur with a tennis club. I have to treat one of the professional players they have to allow them to get feedback from the athletes.

I'm a bit nervous although I have performed massage on several people, none of them have been professional.

Wish me luck as I have spent the best part of a year since uni trying to find work in my qualified field.

I have also managed to line up some work experience with a uni in California to work with their sports teams:goodvibes

Excellent news Nikki:thumbsup2 Does that mean that you will be off to California soon?

Sending you lots and lots of pixiedust: for tomorrow.

great news, lots of luck, be sure to let us know how you get on

Wonderful news and fingers cross for tomorrow :thumbsup2

I hope to go to California in September as I knew my current employers wouldn't let me have unpaid leave this month, its opened ended as to when I want to go. Hopefully I will have a clearer date after tomorrow.

Thanks everyone:goodvibes

Well I had a chat with them yesterday, it went ok one of the main players I treated apparently told them she was used to a bloke doing the massage after she said I did a good job, not sure what that is supposed to mean:confused3

One thing that did annoy me was I was told I would be treating one person so they could get feedback no problem i'd rather be given the chance to prove myself, however when I got there they had changed it to 3 people who all got a free massage.

It was surreal too as Pat Cash was there as he has links with the coach!

Anyway apparently the position will be self employed a couple of days a week, my only advantage is that because I live so far away they would do booking in blocks to make sure i'm not there for only an hour.

I'm thinking about it but at the moment I am leaning away from it as I would have to used one of there offices to treat people as there have been delays on the new building, that I would be working with the younger children, who I think will not really be wanting a massage and also it is a 135 mile round trip which I would be prepared to do with a full time regular hours position.

I am sure you will make the right decision Nikki. Do whatever you feel is best for you :goodvibes

Well done and I hope you can come to a decision you're happy with :)

I emailed them to clarify a couple of things we discussed also I mentioned about going to California & it turns out they are still interviewing for the position! even though they have not advertise the vacancy, I only found out by emailing them and asking on the off chance.

They said I should go to the States & contact them when I get back.

They basically told me that it was mine for the taking on Thursday on a self employed basis which wouldn't be a problem for me and one of the people introduced me to someone & said that I was most likely to be the new masseur.

I think this has really made up my mind in that I won't be taking the position even if I was successful again.

Am I wrong for coming to this decision?

Hi Nikki,
Only just read your thread, sorry! i think you are making the right decision, firstly its a long commute, secondly they basically offered you the position but went behind your back by still recruiting, I wouldn't feel comfortable working like this, hope it all works out ok:grouphug:

I have now been offered the chance to rent a room near to where I live to practice. I hope to go and have alook round sometime this week to see if it is what I want.

Hopefully the person won't go back on her word!
