Things no longer seen on DCL

They still have it. Last week on the Magic there were full sized hot dogs, wings, nachos, mini wrap sandwiches, sauerkraut. They were encouraging people to eat up from the buffet!!

And I still miss Parrot Cay. I liked it so much better than Carioca's!!!

MJ

Parrot Cay was my very favorite restaurant on both ships -- until they took the Magic to the Med the first time and took down all the decor so it would be more "classy". We were told they were going to put it all back up when the Magic returned home, but they never did. That was such a fun restaurant in its original state -- and we loved the menu.

Smoking was allowed in bars on deck 3 and on balconies.

I recently looked at a navigator from 2005 and was amazed when I read that in Wavebands smoking was not allowed as well as in Diversions beofre 9pm! How smoky was it in the other lounges?

If you have an aversion to smoke, it was awful. We had to give up many adult shows because I couldn't breath (asthma).

Wow!! While I am sorry that other things went away (those games at the adult pool sound like a lot of fun!), I am definitely very happy that this has changed!

And the no smoking on the balconies. Many a pleasant time on our over-prices balconies were ruined by smokers next door. Even opening our stateroom door allowed smoke in. But hey, I'm still trying to get over the fact they ever allowed smoking on airplanes LOL!

I remember the kids clubs had their own "Navigator". I didn't have kids/grandkids in clubs, so I don't know if the Navigator was daily or for entire cruise.

After the smoking ban in lounges, when walking into Cadillac Lounge and Magic equivalent, I could smell stale smoke at entrance for a few years.

We boarded the Magic in Barcelona in 2007 only to be greeted by stale cigarette smoke. Room steward admitted that she found a cup of cigarette butts in the room, but made no effort to deep clean it so we wouldn't be stuck with the smell. Supervisor sent us out to lunch and when we came back, room was done and you couldn't smell anything. If the room steward didn't report them, then they got away without paying the fine as smoking inside the stateroom was a no no.

1.) Tropicalifragilisticexpialidocious. This was the night time party before Pirates.

2.) The awesome plush leather chairs around the atrium on Decks 4 and 5. The chairs there now just don't compare.

3.) Live steel drum music on deck. They had this on our first Magic cruise in 2001.

Yep, miss the live music as well on deck and in the Atrium:

I'm hoping that when the supervisor got involved, that the prior occupants were reported, and the steward had some explaining to do.

I don't know if this was mentioned, but I miss the ships staying later in some ports. In the early years, the Magic and Wonder would stay in say Nassau until 2 or 230, and be at CC by 7 the next morning. Now they leave at 5ish.

I know that a supervisor came to inspect and was not happy. And the room steward had to know throughout the cruise that these people were smoking in that room! Besides a health issue, it's a fire hazard!

The late stays in Nassau (and I would guess perhaps another port but I don't know for sure) are generally rewards for the crew when they earn certain levels as a whole on the comment cards.

yeah, personally I would not want to be out in Nassau at nighttime unless I was in a large group!
