Things I would never have done without the DIS

OK, I thought I was pretty good at Disney, but reading this thread there was so much new!!! OMG thanks everyone!!:worship:

Okay, this may be one of mine. Anyone have more info on it?

Me! Total fave of mine. In my 2008 TR in my siggie I think I even have a photo. It's in France & it's called Grand Marnier Slushie. It's in a building facing France near the lagoon, not in the main area of France. This is a must do for me every trip. It's expensive: $8-9.00. But worth it! And they also have a lemon vodka one that people adore but I've never had one because I get to the stand & I mean to say, "One lemon slushie, please" so I can try something new and instead my lips say, "One grand marnier slushie!" Mmmmm.....

Totally learned about these two drinks right here on the DIS!

I've been a follower here for years and the things I've learned are ridiculous. I've learned how to use CVS extra care bucks and who Dave Ramsey is in my regular life. I've gotten in on sales (like the $25.00 SWA coupon and an amazing rental car deal!) for my travel needs. And that's all in addition to all the Disney World things I never knew. Oh, and I've learned about scrapbooking & Cricut from these boards. AND what camping equipment I need from the camping site.

I  Disboards. Good for info from Animal Kingdom to Zazu! Now I'm off to read more of these ideas (like didn't know the Epcot Canada spot) as I leave in less than a week! :cool1:

Pick a pearl
Looked for the key under the Mat at Muppets
Tried the bakery at Norway
Look for and find Devine
Knew about the old ring in the ground
Met so many who appreciate the CMs and how special they can truly make an experience

I was hanging in with most of this great thread until here. Help what are these:
looked for the key under the Mat at Muppets
look for and find Devine
knew about the old ring in the ground

:)

Devine is the living tree (women in costume) at Animal Kingdom and i believe the ring was in the ground at the haunted mansion but i've heard that it's gone now when the renovated it a few years ago

We learned to grab a frozen margarita before boarding the Rivers of Time in Mexico and enjoy the drink while riding!

Well, we haven't left yet...but here goes:

What I've learned:
- To make my ADRs 180 days out. I would've never gotten CRT otherwise
- To make ADRs for pre-park opening
- Lime green Mickey heads...I raided Home Depot last week.
- Pre Ordering the photopass CD for $99
- Getting to the parks at rope drop
- Creating a touring plan
- To get to Dumbo the very first thing at MK for DS
- Waking up Tink...we'll see if it happens for us
- How to get a pin code
- Knowing what'll be closed beforehand
- MNSSHP
- Pirate's League is open later on MNSSHP nights (thank you!!)
- Robo's maps are awesome!!
- memoriesbybetsy!! (ordered a gift package for DS)
- matching shirts
- I'm going to try the tie dye, we'll see...:scared1:
- To avoid Beverly at all costs at Club Cool...but to get DH to try it. :lmao:

What I'd still like to learn:
- How to get picked for Indiana Jones
- Why should we stand under the picture of the lady with the parasol in the Haunted Mansion stretching room

Gosh, I'm sure there's more...I can't think of it all.

Countless things..

Especially for Christmas..

Gingerbread house.. Merry go round..VWL decorations..

Thank you, Dis!

Without the DIS...

I wouldn't have known to go to Starring Rolls and ask for grapefruit cake from The Brown Derby. I felt like a spy! I asked, and everyone at the counter started talking quietly among themselves, and then one CM went in the back and a few minutes later she came out with my cake. It was awesome, and I felt like I knew a super secret. (The cake was phenomenal by the way. )

You are now my BFF for posting this!!!!

Renting points! We have been at WDW 3 times in the past 5 years, it never would have happened without being able to rent DVC points - we end up paying way less, for really nice places. Thanks, everyone!

Hi,
If it's the place I'm thinking of :
Walk as if you are heading to the Land
On your left will be the ice cream place and the character greeting
Walk past the character greeting and (IIRC) there is a door
The bldg is sort of a semi-circle shape, follow the carpeted (indoor) path
You will pass on your left a path to the ice cream shop (Fountain View?) and bathrooms and on the right an exit into the Land
Keep going and the museum is on your left
It's a very circumspect ordinary blue looking door
Inside is a cool little museum with dioramas and factoids about the planning and building of EPCOT
You can also enter on the Club Cool side in which case the museum will be on your right
Hope this makes sense...also hoping this is the museum people are mentioning

Without the DIS I honestly can't imagine how our first trip to WDW (12/2009) would have occured! It certainly wouldn't have been the rip roaring success it was - and that was travelling with 4 kids ages 10 - 13!!!!!

Without the DIS, I wouldn't have:
1. Known how to use up all those snack credits (single serving, less than 4$ - probably can get it on a snack credit!)
2. planned a pre-rope drop ADR for breakfast and enjoyed the walk through an empty park!
3. used a Touring Plan!
4. done Pick a Pearl with my girls!
5. Known that there is a big Pokeman section at the store in Japan!
6. Found Club Cool - the kids went over and again!
7. figured out how to order special-order food at table-reservation restaurants (order in advance, or ask to speak to the chef!) or known where to get Kosher food without ordering in advance...
8. to get everyon Happy Birthday and First Visit Buttons!
9. to make t-shirts and let the kids know that being loud and obvious is totally COOL at WDW and can get you lots of positive attention!

And a ton of other stuff. That's just the tip of the iceburg!
And yes, I'm an addict now. I admit it:goodvibes:goodvibes

... forgot to add this!! My best DIS inspired website for pre-trip obsessional buying!!!!!! All those small travel size things you never knew you needed until you read these boards!

Mine too! I was thinking of skipping DHS next trip but now I'll go there so I can do this!!!!

We've been back a few days now, and want to thank all the Diser's for the wonderful tips. We learned so much and tried to use them all to our advantage. I know we missed several stuff and will have to go back. Here were some of our favorites.

We made a reservation at Sci-Fi for dinner. We heard they had really good burgers here, but they are not on the dinner menu; they're only on the lunch menu. Thanks to all the Diser's, we learned you can still order them for dinner.

Secret Paths at MK and AK. Worked like a charm.

Best spots to view Wishes and Illuminations. Wishes we viewed at the entrance to Tomorrowland and Illuminations at the top of the stairs by O'Canada gift shop.

Which rides to get fast passes for right away. Toy Story Mania by far was the best one we got.

Early ADR's for Character Breakfast's.

And our favorite activity to pass the time, looking for Hidden Mickey's. We even cheated a little and bought the book.
