Things Disney Offers But Doesn't Advertise *Summary Added Oct 08*

pearl- again, you can do this in a few other places in WDW, I think theres a kiosk on the Boardwalk and another in DownTown Disney (where I got mine) you select an oyster, they have you ring a bell and everyone around says "Aloha" to welcome the pearl into the world on its "birthday" they you can see what you get, you could luck out and even get a black pearl. I used the pearl from the oyster I selected, but you dont have to, you can choose a different pearl. I think my pendent cost about $150 with setting and thin chain. You can also purchase jewelry from the kiosks, all from pearls. These are mikimoto pearls (thats what they told us) earings, rings, necklaces, pendents, etc price ranges according to what you pick.

Hey FarmerSue!

You are so welcome! Hopefully, others will read your request and fill in my blanks! :goodvibes

I just got my digital SLR last month, and I still haven't loaded my software or transferred my pictures! :rotfl:

Yekcim has been a HUGE help....are you subscribed to the Picture of the Day thread or do you go to the Photography boards? They are great sources of info!

I am really excited about having my SLR at Disney next month...I am just debating taking a tripod! LOL!

For the opening of Toon Town. Can someone tell me how you got to the spot where you were lucky enough to be picked to open it that day? I'm having a hard time picturing exactly where or how it is you'd get to that spot. Thanks.

We were chosen as the family to light the tree at Epcot.
We were given earplugs to wear and bells to ring and then the orchestra started and the tree lit up.
They gave us beautiful Christmas ornaments as well.
We were just approached and asked to do so about 30 minutes prior.

In 2003 we had the same thing happen to our kids (and my nieces). Alice and the Mad Hatter escorted them to Mickeys house and got a private tour :). This was after we were selected to open the MK which is a whole other story in itself :).

Then they got a chance to ride the tea cups alone with the Mad Hatter which was even cooler :thumbsup2

Here are a few pics of the opening train ride stuff and the tour with Mickey.

This is one of the cutest pictures I've ever seen!

There's a pathway that starts between the Indy Raceway and Space Mountain....it runs between the speedway and the train tracks. Take that path down until you get to Toon Town on your left...looking at ToonTown from this entrance, Mickey's house will be on the right...that's where we were when we got picked.

subscribing...these are some great ideas! What a wealth of knowledge you guys have!!! Unbelievable!

First I want to apologize if this post is in the wrong place.

We are a family of four (my parents, my brother (20) and myself (24), and we are currently planning a Disney Wold trip for June 2008. We have to plan in advance because it's very difficult to get four adults on the same schedule for seven days. We are planning on doing the Platinum Package because we want the ability to do anything on our vacation. I'm the one planning the trip so I've been reading the boards.

One thing that caught my eye was, "Dinning With An Imangineer". I own four small bussiness and the last month I've been reading Disney books about customer service, how Disney runs their company, and some books by Disney Imangeers. I went to the Disney website to get more information about this special meal, and I really couldn't find anything. So I decided to call Disney. I asked the lady if there was such a meal still offered. She said yes, and the reason I couldn't find anything about it was because Disney doesn't advertise the meal, it's all word of mouth. So this got me thinking. What else does Disney offer that isn't advertised?

We know about the tours and water sports and golfing. But are there special things (like the meal with the imangeer) that only a few know about? I've been reading these boards for over a year, and I know that there are a lot of people that know a lot about Disney, so I thought I would ask. :earsboy:

Kris :-)

We did lunch with an imagineer and I believe it was only $45 but that was 2 yrs ago. Had lunch at brown derby. It was a prefixed meal whereby you got soup, a choice of an entree, soft drink and dessert. There were only 6 people at our table so it was wonderful. Each person gets his own nametag. It looks just like the ones the CM's wear but was red. The imagineer is great at telling how different attractions came to be. ALso alot of trivia. It is kind of interactive as you get to ask questions. I believe it is offered 2 days during the week and it is either lunch or dinner. Dinner is more expensive.

At the end of the meal you get a signed plate. Mine was black and had wdw written on it in gold. Wonderful experience. Very worth the price

Thank you for that info. We'll have to try that in a couple weeks when we head down.

I finally read everything. Wow! lots of great info. 3 more weeks to go and I can't hardly wait! Only problem...How am I going to remember all this stuff?
