Most of you won’t remember these things. I miss Scoops on deck 9 outside of Cabanas on the Magic. It was hard scopped ice cream with toppings - M&Ms, Cookie crumbs, choc sauce, etc. The also had fruit all afternoon along with trays of chocolate chip cookies. Cake of the day on the room service menu when it was actual cake and not little pots of cake like stuff. The buffet in Cabanas used to have desserts that were full size cakes that were sliced and you took a slice of cake, self serve. There were also jello/puddings and other desserts. The cake actually tasted like cake!
I don’t care anymore personally since my kids are grown, but I liked it when they took the kids in the club to lunch and dinner. Lunch was at Animators Palate and Dinner was at Cabanas buffet where one side was set up for the kids. No other buffet provided for adults. I don’t think Cabanas dinner was a thing at that point.
The room service menu had entrees on it. Lasagna, good pizza, really good cheeseburgers. Multiple salads and soups. I remember when they tried to take off the All Hands on Deck from the menu. Such an uproar that it was put back on.
Prior to the snack shack at the movie theaters, there was popcorn on the room sesrvice menu. It was an upcharge but it was only like $2.50 for a big bag of popcorn. I can’t remember the name but it is the one in the black bag. It was about the same price as getting it in the grocery store. My kids ordered that several times when they were in the room by themselves and I found out about the charges later!
The Castaway Cllub meeting was always nice in the past. Food, drinks, interaction with the crew. It was held in the nightclub area and wasn’t crowded. Now it is held in the auditorium and is like a drive by with the officers and drink. No food anymore. I got to know a lot of officers at that gathering.
I also miss the galley tours. That was a fun sea day adventure.
I miss the old days of
