I am so happy the powers-that-be at WDW have finally listened. The boat routes to the Magic Kingdom have changed so that there are boats that ONLY go from the Fort to the Magic Kingdom and back!:cool1: No more waiting in line on the dock for an hour to go to Spectromagic! I told the cast members thank you about a million times. I guess complaining to the internet line does help after all. I know I will be posting a thank you letter to them after this trip!

By the way, I met TiggerinBama and BamaEd! They were both really cool! We are going over to Tigger's place to see her holiday layout. She had to go and get more extension cords from Walmart!

I will post pics of the trip when we return tomorrow night. I forgot the cord to upload the pics. We lost our mickey globe to the winds. I guess I have another project to do!

Yeah :thumbsup2 I wonder if that is a permanent change, or just for the holiday season. Do they offer a boat at all from FW to Wilderness Lodge now ??

The routes were like it when we were there Dec. 7th-14th so I would think it is a permanent change not just something for the holidays.

The smaller boat went from the Fort to WL & the Contemporary. Sometime to WL first then sometimes to the Contemporary first.

It was nice the way they had them set up.

:santa: Merry Christmas everyone!

The only problem with the new routes is for Ft. Wilderness they use one big boat and one little launch for the direct boat to MK, so if you are in a wheelchair or ECV and just miss the big boat, you have a long wait to go to MK or back.

Also the direct boat to get to MK doesn't start till 8:30 so to get to MK earlier by wheelchair or ECV, you have to take the bus to WL, then another bus to MK. (Although, I think the big boat that ran to all three didn't start till then anyway.)

I know that doesn't affect a lot of people, but for hubby and my friends that use ECVs, it will be a pain.

When I was there the week before last they were using the two big boats for FW - MK trips and they had one small one and one big one making the trips for WL - MK. They may switch who gets the small one depending on the passenger loads. I think they only have three of the big boats.

We were there 12/15 -12/21 and they were using two big boats. It was a definate plus. The only hic-up, if you want to call it that was on the way back from MK. We had to wait for the Electric Light Parade to clear the canal. It was a private, upclose show.

From what I heard, they are still "tweaking" things so that they can get all the types of riders covered. I also heard it was permanent. I am definitely going to give them a thank you. I know there were a lot of people not happy about those afternoon hour wait times on the dock. When we were there in June, they were all out in the heat, thank goodness for the lake breeze.;)

Great, maybe that'll give me more gator trolling time. I hear the big'uns are further out in the lake. Still having to sneak my fishing gear onto the shuttle boats without the crew seeing me. Last time out, I ran out of small children to use for bait. Guess the excuse of "I'm just seeing if little Johnny can swim" ain't working anymore.

They have also added two boats for the trip. They took the two remaining boats left from the tour around Discovery Island in AK and moved them to SSL/Bay Lake. I think these boats are going to WL only. We never got to ride them, we just saw them. (The third leftover boat is the one that Mickey and Minnie use as a greeting barge in the Lake at AK.)

That's great news. :) Especially if you just want to run in and eat and don't have alot of time to get to your priority seating time. :) Very, very good news.
And CaptKent your very funny, thanks for the laug of the day. I hope you got a pocket fisherman for Christmas. :)

Another plus, the big boats have windows that close! When it is friggin' cold like it was last week, the last thing you want to do is feel that cold air off the water!

I was oh-so thankful!:goodvibes

No pocket fisherman this year. The wife asked what I wanted for Christmas and I told her I wanted something fun to play with. I awoke Christmas morning to find she had cut the bottoms out of all my front pants pockets.

We were there from the 11 - 17th, and experienced this hiccup as well.... the boat captain's solution was to position us so that we could watch Wishes from the lagoon.... while waiting for the ELP to clear...whooo hooooo!
