So a CM spilled the beans... they can't keep anything secret when it comes to this wedding. One accidentally mentioned we're on a conceirge level the night of the wedding. So that go us thinking, "Why are there two reservations in our name at the Yacht Club after the wedding?"

So we asked. They expect us to move OUT of the conceirge level room the morning after the wedding. HELLO!?! You want to move me, my gown, all the floral arrangements, every unfinished bottle of alcohol, etc. out of that room the morning after my wedding? And you're telling me our final delivery of this stuff won't be until after 1:00 am? Do you have a concept of a wedding night? We're not likely to fall asleep until 3 or 4 am... and you want us out of the room for no later than noon? I can tell you that's not happening.... especially if you expect me to havbe to deal with the logistical crap of, "What do I do with all this??"

We had no idea about this. Apparently, when FMIL booked our 2 nights after the wedding, she did. The conceirge level is sold out for those nights. She had no option but to book us into the standard room.

So... is the conceirge level really worth the hassle of having to move everything and deal with the logisitical BS? Or, are we better off checking into the standard rate room the day of the wedding and not having to move?The idea of having to wake up to an alarm the morning after the wedding completely puts a damper on everything. Not to mention being, "homeless,: for a few hours in there with all the stuff. How likley are they going to be able to just let us check in and stay in that room (we've been told it's sold out twice and FMIL was told that in June when she made our reservations).

DFi really wants the night in the conceirge... I just don't want to deal with it. He didn't see how big or heavy the floral was. He has no idea how big the dress is. I won't have my dress bag with me, so I have no safe way to put it into the baggage check. Open bottles of alcohol? I'll bet $20 they won't store them.

Just seems so dumb and poorly planned out on the part if Disney... it's not like our "other" reservations were made late... they were made in June....

we fortunately were able to get our yc club concierge room for the whole 10 days, hopefully with a gazebo view.

if i was in your situation though i would switch to the 1 standard room for your whole stay, so you dont have to move. i too would see your situation as an inconvinience, the only benefit of concierge is the preplanning & lounge with snacks, there will also be a savings with the switch, the standard rooms are still nice.

No...no savings... our first night is on Disney.

Just moving from the "free" conceirge to a "free" standard for the first night. Standard rooms we've stayed in numerous times before. I know he wants that something special. I just don't want to be bothered with the inconvenience.

It's almost an entitlement issue... after all this fuss, planning, last minute switches (on their part!), and money and we don't even have the convenience of staying in our comp. suite for more than 10 hours?! C'mon now.....

I know some brides have been faced with this dilemma and have opted to book a room and pay for it for their stay and just move to the comp night room for their wedding night. That way you just need a couple items and can go right back to your other room in the morning. If you do switch rooms without having the other room as a backup, bell services should be able to come and get all your luggage and hold it for you until you get another room. We stayed concierge at the GF for our comp night (which was also out last night, not our wedding night because of the issues you are having) and it was a wonderful experience. If your DFi really wants this, maybe you should go for it?

Is it possible to have someone else stay in the standard room that night and wait for everything (flowers, alcohol, etc.) to be delivered? That way you and your new hubby can spend your wedding night with no interruptions in the Concierge room. Granted, you'll be paying for a standard room that you won't get to use that night, but it just might be worth the cost of not having to deal with being bothered or having to move all of your stuff out of the room in the morning.

Princess chrysty and Equidae make good points. I s there someone who is checking ou the day after the wedding that could stay in that room and recieve everything that way on the day after you just need to take your dress and pj's over to the standard room?

I would ask for a couple alternatives from YC...

One would be that you just keep your standard room, and they either deliver everything there or they hold it at bell services until you call for it when you wake up and are ready to go back to the other room. You and your new DH can have a small bag (PJs and something to walk back to your regular room in) and enjoy your concierge room.

The other would be to just use the standard room and order room service instead of the lounge. We stayed at YC and had a room right around the corner from the elevators, it was in a part of the hotel that "stuck out" from the building so we had windows all the way down one side of the room, and a large balcony. We also only had neighbors on one side. Maybe see if you can note you are there for your FTW and see if they can get you in that standard room?

Well worth it not to have to get up early on your wedding day! And I also would not want to move into a room that day if I could avoid it.

I agree with ahutton, I would ask YC if you could stay in a standard room on your wedding night to avoid the hassel of moving everything the next day, but I would ask for a room with a wonderful view and a complimentary dinner or breakfast or something to make up for the lack of the concierge service.

Who knows, maybe you could play it like... "Well, we were really looking forward to a room on the concierge level, it's such a special night for us. If you could make it just as special for us in a standard room, we may not mind so much."

It's your wedding night, it's special... ask for extras, you never know what you could get!

I completely understand all the stuff that goes along with the wedding and next day! There is way too much to move and lug around.

Disney gives one night in a resort room to their custom couples who have met their contractual room requirements. If a concierge room is available, they will upgrade the standard room to a concierge room for that one night. If a concierge room is not available, the standard room will be what the couple gets. If someone asks nicely, they can usually get their free night moved to another point in their vacation. Please discuss this option with the Wedding Planner / Event Manager.

Most concierge rooms are standard rooms that are simply located on a different floor or in a different building of a resort. I have stayed on non-concierge floors in a few of Disney’s resorts (the Yacht Club being one of them) and my room key allowed me concierge access. This was explained to me upon check-in. I did not find it a hassle to be located either on another floor or in a different building. My vacations all turned out beautifully.

Since you have booked two additional nights in a standard room, request that you be put in the standard room for all three nights of your stay. For the “free” night, the resort will simply add concierge access to your room key. I should note that this normally means that you will need a new room key issued for that one day (and if that one day falls within your stay, you'll need another room key issued on the following day). The Front Desk can easily handle this for you.

FMIL only booked us the two nights (she booked for us, we're paying), after the wedding. Technically, we don't have a room available to us on the night of the wedding beyond the conceire room... unless we want the bridal suite a mess from getting ready or to stay with family.

Yes, Janet, we have met the contractual agreement, thus the only reason it has come up. No, we didn't know that is was a conceirge suite until another CM managed to ruin (probably) the last surprise we/I wasn't supposed to know about. I just find it incredibly incovenient and poor planning on their part to move someone the morning after a wedding.

They want to move us, go for it. Be my guest. But they will be the ones moving everything. I will do nothing more than pack my personal items in my overnight bag. They can deal with the flowers, alcohol, gifts, dress, etc. Their liability.

The only place we can have everything else delivered to the night of the wedding would be his parents room as only they are stay at the YC. They've asked for us not to take that route. My immediate family is at the GF and moving into a timeshare the following morning. They've asked not to have to deal with the hassle and logistics of moving everything. So, the bellhop is delivering it to us. At this point, I am thinking they are delivering it to a stadard room that has been give the upgrades of conceirge room.

OK first off I want to make sure that ALL future Disney brides don't think that their free wedding night on Disney will be a Concierge and/or suite - this is NOT a guarantee but if your Wedding Planner can do this they will. As mentioned previously this free night is for those Custom couples who have met their room block requiremnts.

To me it wasn't a surprise as I had read all about it on these boards and other places and my Sales Manager had previously mentioned to me the possibility of getting not only a free room for the night but also a potential upgrade.

For some, the timing works out great and they usually get their husbands-to- be to make the move. I also know some brides who have stayed at All Stars and then they got their free night at The Yacht Club and they kept their room on at All Stars so that they could check in to the YC for a night. Another I know had a YC wedding and moved out of her hotel on the wedding day and went and checked into her free room at the YC the morning of the wedding and proceeded to get ready in one of the convention rooms there. Like I said it can work out for some brides.

For us the timings wouldn't have worked as I was already getting ready at 7am and the wedding reception didn't finish until 5pm so what would have been the point. So when we were offered a free room for the night, with the possibility it would have been concierge or a suite, we decided to turn it down as we were already staying at YC so we didn't think it worth while moving rooms for just one night - so instead our Sales Manager got the rack rate credited to our exisiting reservation. But this is an exception and NOT the rule and I would ask that I not be quoted in this!!

The same happened to me and I offered to stay in the standard room rather than move...but in the end I was able to get another night in concierge when something freed up. To me, not worth the hassle. If Janet is right and they can add the concierge privileges to your key for one day, that might be a good way to go. I have also heard of people asking if the complementary night could be used on a night other than the wedding night. All in all, it's a really nice perk to be upgraded to concierge when it happens, but you have to see what works best for you!

Bell Services would be more than happy to help you move all your stuff. They helped us with all of our stuff the several times we moved rooms during the course of our wedding trip.

If moving is going to be that much of a pain, I would do what Janet2k suggests and ask that they just put you in a standard room and give you concerge access for the day. I'm sure that it will work itself out.
