Captured Qaeda Figure Led Way to Information Behind Warning

Bin Laden and the rest of Al Qaeda read the internet. Now they'll change there methods. Gonna be like last time when they found out we could track and listen to their satallite phones. I don't need or want to know who we capture or how we're doing it. Tell me in 20 years when this stuff can be declassified. Right now protect this country and capture or kill these people.

Because a previously captured Al-Qeida operative that helped plan September 11th said that if they knew one of their guys was captured (he was, they just didn't know it yet) that they would have postponed/canceled the attacks.

Maybe they are hoping these reports have the same effect on recent warnings???

I know they have to be smarter than I am, so I'm hoping that they have a reason for letting this go public.

thats the problem with our country sometimes. We share way too much information with the wrong people. I always hope there is a good reason for "sharing", but I doubt it.

Yes, it is nice to be informed. But on the flip side...Osama and his posse know that we are aware of their plans. Why would he carry them out when we are prepared? If that was me, I would scrap those plans and catch you off guard. Just like 9/11. We did not expect it and look what happened. I just don't understand why we are broadcasting this worldwide when he is sitting in his cave making plans to surprise us again.

And another thing that always gets me is when the news points out places that have light security that would make easy targets or describes in detail how easy it is to make ricin etc...

I know the hardcore terrorists already know this stuff, but maybe they are putting ideas in the heads of the non hardcore people...you know..just your averge lunatic sitting around who decides to snap and go on a spree...

However, there are many people, some who I have seen on this board, who think that when the terror warnings come out it is some ploy by President Bush. And that is sad. So what I think is now they feel they have to say WHERE they got the information so these people don't think it is just some power play.

This one gets me the most. Like when Dateline or 60 Minutes does an investigation about some place that has lax security. It makes me want to scream. I understand they need to point it out so something will be done but I feel like there might be a better way than put it out on national TV.

i remember back around 9/11 on the news or CNN, or whatever
they were saying how the President is 'at this time safe, at Camp David'.

Makes you wonder, i mean i know some places are secure and safer, less known than others, but why tell the world where the president is staying!?! its not like they can't search the internet and find directions.

it seems common sense would tell you to keep info like that quiet. unless he isn't actually there.
