They Don't Eat Hash Browns in Princessland - May 14 COMPLETE! 2/8 pg. 73

I was so glad to see that your toe is all healed up and you're back on track! :thumbsup2 I'd love to read a Princess Half PTR.

I'm not so sure I could do the bacon cupcake. My DH on the other hand? Probably.
The brioche ice cream sandwiches however, I might be able to live off those alone.
YAY Star Wars dinner! I was so excited to read all about this! It sounds like so much fun! That is a pretty steep price, but now having read your review I can see me definitely doing it if I'm ever there for SWW. Love the leggings, btw!

Alright, finally caught up again :)

Eek for the surgery but yay for clear biopsy!!

That mac and cheese does look amazing. Now I'm hungry and I just ate lunch. And your fork idea is probably going to be something I take to heart when I food and wine in September.

Character dinners are always a good idea ;) And I love all the pictures. You and your parents are such goobers, I appreciate it.

LOL @ your caption for the Lady in the Tramp topiary. She werks that hurr-durr!

Again, that Brioche Ice Cream sandwich is so unbelievably necessary when I go back. OMG, it just looks SOOOOOOOO GOOD!!

Note to self: Have camera ready to film Danielle when she's around attractive CMs and you could win Oscar gold. :thumbsup2

What a fun dinner! I love your photo with Donald, you look so happy! I can only imagine what it must've looked like when you ran back to the table and Donald's reaction. :rotfl: And your parents with Goofy. Just... perfect. :lmao:

Can't wait to read more! :mickeyjum

Hahaha, she does were that hurr-durr!

That brioche ice cream sandwich is absolutely necessary when you go back. It's insane.

You would definitely win oscar gold if you caught me on film in front of a cute guy. I'm hopelessly dorky.

I did look totally happy in that picture! It's the perfect example of how I was feeling in that moment.

I'm a little late but I LOVE your report!! Your family is so cute (I love the photo of your parents with Darth Goofy).

Thanks for sharing your experience with the character dinner, hubby and I walked past it and could see in, he was very sad not to have a reservation. Maybe next time.

Anywho, can't wait for more!!

:welcome: I'm glad your here! My family is pretty silly and we have a ton of fun together.

That dinner reservation was crazy! There were definitely a lot of bummed people walking by the restaurant.

Hi sis, love reading your trip reports. We will be sure to have some prime events to record in feb 2015

Well hello there! Now I actually have to be nice to you, because you could totally read it now.

Um, February is going to be crazy! And May too!

So much yummy food! That ice cream sandwich.....:worship:

I can definitely see how you'd hesitate to pay 60 bucks a person for a DH h dinner! but I guess you're paying for the experience more than the food. Those costumes the characters we're wearing we're amazing. Storm Trooper Donald?! How cool.
And based on the limited availability and the delayed seating, I'd think it was enough of a success to bring back next year. I kind of hope so, because an unlimited supply of those Darth Vader cupcakes would be pretty tempting to me. :rotfl:

I agree wholeheartedly, the Dark. Side was the yummy and should have been the Force. I actually thought the same thing when I ordered. Red, light saber, Death Star....just makes sense. :confused3

I want that ice cream sandwich now! Well, actually I want it every day.

We were definitely paying for the experience over paying for the food. I mean, the food didn't disappoint, so that was a plus.

I'm really hoping they do bring it back next year, because I want to do both of the character meals with my brother for our SWW trip.

It just made no sense at all with the naming of the drinks. No logic I tell you, no logic.

Gurlllll, your hair is crazy!! LOL!

I am 6 feet with shoes, so I think that is why Goofy is my favorite!! I can hug him and stand next to him without feeling like some sort of giant being!!

Great updates!!!

I love tall characters too! I'm 5'9" so not super tall, but tall enough that the tiny characters always get me.

I was so glad to see that your toe is all healed up and you're back on track! :thumbsup2 I'd love to read a Princess Half PTR.

I'm not so sure I could do the bacon cupcake. My DH on the other hand? Probably.

I'm glad that my toe is healed too! It's been a little bit of a struggle, but I'm just pushing through it all.

It was definitely a steep price for the meal, but all in all, it was one of our favorite experiences, and I'm so glad that we ended up doing it.

Alright, finally caught up again :)

Eek for the surgery but yay for clear biopsy!!

We had a little bit of a hiccup with oral surgeries and such, but we're back on track.

I'm hungry too, and I just ate dinner. :lmao: That nudel gratin is insanely yummy. And definitely carry a fork around in your pocket. It definitely helps you be prepared.

I'm glad you appreciate our gooberness.

First and foremost, I want to have everyone say a big WELCOME to my brother Jason, who is now a member of the DISboards as PopadonSon. :thumbsup2 He posted his first response on this TR yesterday. I don't know how active he's going to be, but I'm pretty excited that he is on the boards now. He's one of my best friends ever, and he loves Disney just as much as the rest of us do. Those of you who have read my past TR's will recognize him from my February 2011 TR, July 2011 TR, and July 2013 TR. Yay Jason!

Onward with the update!

Day 4 - Sunday May 18, 2014

Today was our official rest day. A little early in the trip, but I think rest days on long trips are essential. It's not a full rest day, but I don't subscribe to the "no sleep in Disney" motto that a lot do. Now, that's mainly because I am a very fortunate person who gets to go to Disney much more frequently than most. But it helps me to feel that my trip is so rewarding.

I had set our FP+ for the evening, so we slept in and decided to chill by the pool. Pop's legs were still burnt, so he said he wanted to stay back in the room and catch up on emails for work. Here's my philosophy on work emails when I'm on vacation:

I don't check them. Until I get home at the end of the trip. If I am absolutely needed, they know my number. They can call me. While other managers at my company may not take the approach that I do, I take my time off very seriously.

Pop on the other hand. He just doesn't like to fall behind. I totally get it. Just not my preference.

Mom elected to punish Pop for wanting to do work by sticking a lightsaber up his nose.

Now, we have to remember that I am pasty white and do not tan, so rule number one of pool time?

1) Get a seat in the shade.

Otherwise, let's remember.

Seats secured, Mom and I settled in. In the sun at first, and then into the shade if it got too hot.

We are quiet pool people when there are no littles on the trip. I like my quiet and my relaxation at the pool. When the kids are around, it's a different story, but in this moment? Aaaaaaahhhhhh, perfection.

Mom and I laid by the pool and read for a while, took a dip in the pool, and relaxed in the japoolzi. (I can't help it, it will always be a japoolzi to me after my friend's husband deemed it that after drinking). It was a great way to spend the morning.

We headed back up to the room to check on Pop, and he had just finished up checking his emails. Pop said he wanted to sit on the balcony and read for a little while, so Mom and I headed down to the Boardwalk Bakery to pick up lunch and bring it back to the room.

I put on some clothes before heading out. I'm not going down there in a bathing suit, no way.

I put on my lovely Beauty and the Beast shirt.

Of course I had to take some pictures on the way.

UGH, I MISS IT! I want to go back now. November can't come soon enough.

We were at our destination shortly. I mean, mainly because we didn't have far to walk. I hadn't been in the bakery since the expansion. I'm really happy about the size of it now! I always hated the fact that the old location was so small, and I think the refurb they did on it was perfect.

Lunch in hand, it was time for us to head back up to the room. Pop was pretty excited when we got there, because apparently he was hungry.

What were our selections?

Mine was the chicken salad.

Pop got the pork loin sandwich with coleslaw.

Mom got the mozzarella and tomato sandwich.

In addition to this lovely lunch, Mom and I picked the salted caramel chocolate ganache to split for dessert.

Overall, lunch was pretty good. The serving sizes were massively huge, which is not uncommon for Disney. I actually put some of my salad away into the fridge because I couldn't possibly eat all of it.

We relaxed a bit more after lunch before heading out to Epcot for the final day at the Flower and Garden Festival.

Any guesses for the makeup inspiration of the day?

And, I donned my totally awesome Maleficent shirt for the day.

After we were all ready to go, we walked over to the International Gateway. Gotta love that convenience!

One of my favorite things about the F&G Festival are the sun catchers. This one was especially beautiful.

What was our first destination?

Yay, Imagination!

Imagination and I have a special relationship. It was my favorite ride ever since I was little. I do miss the old attraction, and while we mourn the loss of that....let's see a flashback picture of me at ImageWorks. Which is STILL UPSTAIRS!

Man, I was a peanut! What the heck happened?

Continued in next post:

Continued from prior post:

Before heading into Imagination, I took what I think is my favorite picture of the Imagination Pavilion of all time. The light was perfect! And I'm no photographer, so all the real photographers...just smile and nod, okay y'all!?

Apparently, Figment wanted to get into my car. I mean, I know I'm the coolest. Although, everyone else here on the DIS would likely say that my Pop is the coolest.

Yo, call me!

Man.....it would be interesting wandering around in this area of Imagination if you've imbibed a bit. You'd totally be weirded out.

Our journey's into our imaginations were complete. At that point, it was time for us to head onward. Where would we go?

We go where the seagulls are.

All of my pictures inside the ride turned out terrible, so I won't subject you to those. You're welcome.

Something else was calling my name at that point. And that was a nice cool drink from Starbucks.

I treated myself to a frappucino and so did Mom. I never drink those, but it's vacation!

Pop got his normal skinny vanilla latte. I've been trying to get him to try it cold instead of hot. Do I convince him at any point during the trip? I'll take your votes now.

We wanted to get some PP pictures taken, so we headed to the front of the park. And I got this beauty of a shot of SSE.

The sky was absolute perfection that day. *sigh*

I also attempted to get artsy fartsy.

And we proceeded to take a copious amount of PP pictures. These are all out of order, so apologies for that. Photobucket sorted them funny, and I'm too lazy to go and try to move them.

Pop appeared to be up to his old antics again.

I loved this magic shot. F&G exclusive.

Up next: Danielle and Momma compete in a drinking contest. Who wins?

I'm glad to hear you got the all clear to run again! Now, can you send me some of that motivation?! Because I have none.

Ewww work on vacation! I'm the same way you are.. I want NOTHING to do with it while I'm away!

Laying by that pool looks so relaxing! I can't tell you the last time I've been to a pool sans kids. Ahhhh, sounds like heaven. :cloud9:

You ain't jokin' about the portion sizes being HUGE! All of the food looks delicious!

I posted my comment and then I saw part 2!

STARBUCKS! What kind of frapp did you get? And I say that YES, you were able to get Popadon to try his latte cold... and I'm going to say that he LOVED it... because iced coffee is the best! :thumbsup2

I'll try my best! I've been posting my runs on FB, which I'm sure you see. So you can see my sucking and my not sucking. :rotfl2:

It was such a nice morning. I love going to the pool with my nephews too, but I also love being there for quiet time.

It was a special edition flavor. Mocha cookie something.......:scared: I can't remember the exact name! Both of them were the summer flavors though. The other one was caramel crunch.

Wow, thanks for reminding me HOW MUCH I LOVE BOARDWALK. I would ABSOLUTELY stay there again!

Nice pictures in these updates! I think your makeup is Donald inspired, with the yellow and blue...

I really like that fountain picture.

Those are some awesome shots you got in Epcot! Professional photography could be in your future.

I love old photos, especially ones taken at Disney. Is that a sister smooshed in between the brothers? Hilarious! And Cub fans? Gosh, I'm so sorry....

Your drink from Starbucks looks delish! I'll vote no, that you could not get Pop to try his latte cold.

I'm voting that maybe Pop walked on the wild side a little and tried it cold. :cool1:

Also on the drinking contest I'm going to go with you. This I cannot wait to see!

Loved those magic shots! I agree with you on checking e-mails on vacation. My office asked me if I would like to receive work e-mail on my cell phone and I was like "Yeah I'm gonna have to take a pass on that".

YAY Jason!! Welcome to the best community on the planet!!

Danielle, I love your stance of work on vacation. I try to use the same logic. It doesn't always work, but I try. But I do only deal with anything really really easy. Then again, a light saber up the nose just might do it.

Awwwwwwww I love me some retro photos!!!

Hmmmmm, you may have given me goal now. GGS then Figment!

I'll just say it again... I love your family!!!

sounds like a nice morning - definitely advantages of a longer trip (especially knowing you will be back again) and taking some time here and there to catch your breath

That would be something to eat some, um, special brownies and then go on Journey Into the Imagination .... I bet there is a Facebook group for people who do that

those are fun magic shots - I like the look on your face - you're like "boom, I just made some butterflies, what have you done today?"

I'll vote that Papadon does try the latte iced at some points - grudgingly at first but then comes to like it

Wow!!! What a FANTASTIC report so far!!!!

Popadon and the straw fight, My Dad taught me that when I was little, and I showed my kids, it's always the FIRST thing we do when we have straws wrapped in paper! :lmao:

My favourite pictures so far are your Mom dancing in your face and the PP pic of you and your Mom kissing Pop!! Love it!

The nudel gratin looks…out of this world!!! Looky what I found -

http://allears.net/dining/menu/sommerfest/lunch-dinner

It was updated March 2014, so hopefully they have it all the time, and not just for the Flower and Garden festival? You know I'm going to check it out when we go in 20 days! :thumbsup2

Welcome to the DIS world Jason!!! :welcome:

And my vote is yes, Papadon is going to try the drink cold...

And sorry, but my vote is for Mom... She has more experience than you do!!! :lmao:

I agree with you about work emails. If they really need me they can call me. So far, they are really good about only contacting me on vacation if it is "really" necessary, which isn't too often.

I'm voting that Popadon sticks with his favorite latte version. :cool2:

The new Boardwalk Bakery is great. The other version was just way too small.

We used to love all the interactive stuff in the Imagination Pavilion. Most of the best stuff is gone now. When we were there in Feb 2013, a lot of the terminals were broken.

Are you the little girl in the front or the kid smashed in the back with only part of a head showing? :)
