They Don't Eat Hash Browns in Princessland - May 14 COMPLETE! 2/8 pg. 73

HOLY POOP I LOVE YOU. I just discovered you/your TRs and I'm pretty sure that we should be/are family. You're hilarious.

I'm so sad to hear about your dental woes...I had mine out last March and it was theeeee worst. Only good thing was laying around and watching Disney movies on repeat

I could kick myself for not getting the violet drink. I am putting the nudel gratin on the list. Did not try the spring roll either but it sounds yummy.

This will be the the first year I will not be at F & W. TIming off with a no travel period for us at work and then a conference on the other coast so I will be at DL instead.
I will be drooling at F & W pictures though. :lmao:

Glad you and Pop are feeling better.

Everyone wants to run into Popadon, that's totally okay! Our F&W dates are November 8 to 15. The last weekend of F&W.

I now have had to add Nudel Gratin to my must eat list!! Thank you!

As always I love your TR and your Pops! :goodvibes

It is soooooo good!

So what I did was.....took my iPhone, flipped the view like I was going to take a selfie, and then acted like I was looking at it. And there you go. Sistine Chapel ceiling picture. LOL.
Clever! I have to remember that trick!

Is the half marathon a race where the runners can wear a costume?? a couple of my cousins have done marathons at WDW and they had the neatest costumes ... you seem like you could come up with an awesome one ! also thanks for all your food /drink tips ( I might be making a list of must haves for my sept 2015 trip :rolleyes1 )

It's quite a handy one. :rotfl2:

You can wear a costume, yup. You can do that on any of the Disney races. I'm looking into running skirts that can be used to put together a character. You want to be comfortable at the same time. :thumbsup2

You are freaking hilarious! I am a stalker on the Dis, and there are several trip reports that I like to follow, yours being one. I have been to Disney on numerous trips with my kids and now as "mid" senior adult only :cool1: can't even imagine writing a trip report.....I would love to, but know it would be something I just couldn't keep up with. As I was reading yours today, I was thinking " wouldn't it be a blast to go with you, and your mom and dad"! Which is totally out of character for me....I am your complete opposite! I actually laughed out loud when I read the part where you said if you dropped the Mac and cheese you would be eating it off the floor! Keep those updates coming! Can't wait to read more....I was there at the end of May, right after you...maybe someday we'll be there at the same time and I can stop to say 'hi'....would love to meet you! :worship:

The more the merrier we say. you are so welcome to join us at WDW. We had so much fun with all the Dis friends that we met. :thumbsup2:cool1:

Congrats on signing up for the Princess Half Marathon! I want to do it, but the darn military isn't very being very cooperative. I only have a little bit left but soon as I am out I will be signing up for it!

I can't wait to see what you do for an outfit while running.

Just caught up on both TRs you had going and now I'm off to find more, I did catch a glimpse of you in someone else's DISmeets. I was like hey I know them!

Can't wait to read more!

I took a picture of Santa at a Red Sox game using the selfie method! (He was on vacation, we didn't want to bother him.)

I know you'll update soon but I was wondering how you made out on Friday...hoping it was good news!

Why thank you so much!

Writing trip reports takes a lot of dedication and time. There are moments when I just want to stop, and to be honest I have taken breaks from the DIS before. But I always come back, because I've made so many amazing friends here.

I'm not going to lie, I would totally eat it off the ground. That was not an exaggeration.

Maybe someday we will overlap! I have a lot of trips coming up. :lmao:

That we do!

Maybe someday soon you'll be able to do it.

I'm having a few ideas regarding what my outfits will be, because I want one for the half and one for the 5k. we'll see though.

I had a lot of overlap with other people on this TR!

I took a picture of Santa at a Red Sox game using the selfie method! (He was on vacation, we didn't want to bother him.)

That's selfie method is a great way to get covert photos of anything really. :thumbsup2

I was cleared to run on Friday, so we're all good. I've gotten two training sessions in so far. A little on the slow side, but distance is my overall goal, so I'll take it for what it is so far.

Hi everyone!

I'm back and ready to share some news. I went to the Orthopedic doctor on Friday the 18th (many of you know this already, so apologies for rehashing if you are already aware), and I was given the clear to start running. He noted that the toe is completely healed, which is great. The only thing I have to contend with now is residual pain in the toe, which he said was normal. It may last up to five months, which is SUPER annoying, but what can you do?

I had my first run on Saturday. I kinda sucked, but I also missed four weeks. I ran tonight as well three miles. Kinda sucked too, but again, missed four weeks. Plus tonight, it was still 85 degrees when I made it out there and like 80% humidity. So, my pace wasn't terrible (14:30 per mile) if you take all of those factors into consideration. I even had to walk a half mile, because it was just so humid.

I've been tossing around the idea of doing a Princess Half PTR, I'm just not sure. All it would be is me talking about my pains and woes, and my running highlights. :rotfl: I have had some minor pain in my right hip, but I think it's because I pronate a bit and my hip flexor isn't too happy with me. I'm going to get some inserts to see if I can help out with arch support. Let me know if you guys would be interested in reading all of my running chatter.

So, with that good news out of the way...onward!

Day 3 - Saturday May 17, 2014 Continued. (I'm warning you, the food is literally never ending in this update).

We left off having just learned that if I dropped that nudel gratin from Germany on the ground, that I would still consume it.

We had a few more items on our food list that we wanted to try, so we moved onward.

Lady....gggguuurrrrrllll.....your hurrrr is carazy!

Our destination at this point was the Smokehouse booth in the American Adventure pavilion. Items of interest from there?

Pulled Pig Slider with Cole Slaw

And, the Piggylicious Bacon Cupcake!

I am kind of fascinated by all things bacon. I'm a huge fan of sweet and savory being mixed together, so this was a must do for me. A friend of mine at work makes a version of this, but she actually candies the bacon and then sprinkles it on top of the maple frosting. This version, the bacon is throughout the cupcake batter.

It was interesting. I had one major complaint with it. The cupcake itself was way too heavy! It was more like cornbread than it was a cupcake, which was not what I wanted. The flavor was fine, the maple frosting was yummy. I think the pretzels on top could have been done away with. They were completely innocuous to be honest.

So all in all. Meh. Was a bit of a disappointment.

At that point, I figured we would go somewhere where what I would get would NOT be a disappointment. Where would that be?

Well first, we had to go through a few countries. Of course, we had to stop to watch these amazing ladies.

And we had to take a picture in Morocco with a PP photographer. But seriously Pop? What is up with the hand? Come with me if you want to live?!

This one, Pop's all like "is that a cupcake over there?"

And apparently he's telling himself here "nope...not a cupcake"

What was our stop? If you guessed L'Artisan des Glaces, you would be correct!

Let's watch the beauty that is the brioche ice cream sandwich, shall we?

This was mine. Chocolate ice cream with raspberry sauce.

And then, voila. Pressed and perfect.

Mom had hers with coffee ice cream and raspberry. The main reason we stopped was because Mom missed out on one the previous trip, because she was sick, and this was on her bucket list for this trip. I mean, I'm not going to say no. In retrospect though, we should have shared one, because some of it got tossed because it was too much. You live you learn. Eyes are always bigger than our stomachs.

At that point, we were ready to take our midday relaxation and pool break. We had no plans until dinner later, so we wanted to take advantage of just chilling at the resort.

Gnome Duffy and Yoda Duffy apparently had been chilling all day.

Fast forward. We had spent some time at the pool, in the japoolzi really, and then headed up to the room to relax some more. Now it was time to get ready for our dinner reservation.

When Disney announced the Star Wars weekends meals, I hadn't been 100% sure I wanted to book any of them. Not that we were on a major budget this trip or anything, but the reality is, both of those meals that they announced were expensive. So initially, I didn't book anything. Then I did some digging, checked out the Disney Food Blog, and really wanted to try the Jedi Mickey dinner. But at that point I made that decision, we were only a few weeks from the trip. I figured there would be NO WAY I would get the reservation. So I called Disney Dining and asked them to check on a whim.

Wouldn't you know it. They had an 8:35pm on the 17th! I took that meal in a hot second. I also told Mom and Pop that this entire meal was my treat for the trip.

Of course, because it was SWW, I had to dress appropriately.

A closer look in case you guys wanted to see.

Again, the beauty of staying at the Boardwalk is that we were able to simply stroll to DHS and take our time.

They had a cute car outside of DHS for SWW. I would love this.

Soon, we were heading through bag check. And the CUTEST SECURITY GUARD EVER............was checking bags. (His name is Clint if anyone wants to know). Let's just say, I walked up there with my bag, and this was my face immediately.

And then.....then........he says to me.

"How you doing Princess?"

To which I said....

And then he told me "Have a good night princess!"

Let me tell you. I wish I was smooth. But I'll tell you right now, smooth I am not. If there was a wall there, I likely would have walked into it. I just about died. Now, I'm sure he calls every girl princess when they come through the bag check, but man. He could call me princess anytime!

While I would have loved to stay around the area and admire the man candy, we headed into the park. Since we had time before our reservation, I had a mission.

Both Mom and I got a different one, and Pop got a wine.

I got the Force. Which is grey goose, chambered, and wild berry lemonade.

Mom got the Dark Side. Parrot bay coconut rum, cointreau, and pomegranate lemonade.

Do we think she enjoyed it?

The dark side was the clear winner of the two for me. But here is the Star Wars nerd in me. The names should be reversed. Because Darth Vader's lightsaber is red. I'm sorry, it's only appropriate that the red drink be the dark side, not the blue one. COME ON GUYS!

I feel like i might be posting between posts but i'm just excited!!

ALL THE FOOD

I AM GOING TO EAT THE FRICK OUT OF ONE OF THOSE SANDWICHES IN AUGUST!! It'll be a heavy food day....

The dark side won really?! I'm still convinced when we got it I got the non alcoholic one (I paid for the boozey one though so I'd be pissed) I couldn't taste the booze at all and it seemed like it was just watered down kool aid, I didn't even finish it... :confused3

The weather was miserable today! We hid inside all day. Tomorrow is supposed to be hot and stormy, but Wednesday is supposed to be nice again, which is good because I have plans to go to the Lake County Fair with friends.

Since the picture was in Morocco maybe he was doing his Aladdin impression - "Do you trust me?"

I love your SW outfit! And I can't wait to see the Jedi Mickey dinner pictures!

Edit: or I could have waited 10 minutes to read the beginning of dinner. I love Chip and Dale as Ewoks!!!

Continued from previous post:

We basically just enjoyed our drinks until it was time for us to head over to our reservation. We checked in about 8:25pm, and our reservation was at 8:35pm. I'm going to tell you right now, we didn't get seated until 9pm. This place was absolutely hopping crazy! The bonus to getting seated later though was the fact that we could take our time in the buffet, which worked out in our favor. We didn't feel rushed at all.

Right after you check in, they send you in to take your pictures with the Chippies dressed as Ewoks!

Chip was so cute by the way. Totally stroking my hand in such a sweet manner.

We waited out on the patio after taking those pictures and struck up a conversation with a group of ladies that were sitting and waiting. They complimented my leggings and asked me where I had gotten them. I told them they were from Hot Topic. They had apparently bought some from Darth's Mall as well. They were also RunDisney fanatics, so they were talking about the Princess Half Marathon.

It taught me a lesson though. I try to abide by this every day, but never judge a book by it's cover. I would have never guessed them to be marathoners, so shame on me for that. I like being proven wrong.

Soon, it was time for us to head in for dinner.

The paper mats at the table were meant to be fought with.

And of course our normal table antics ensued.

Pop totally wanted to hit Mom with the straw wrapper. He failed MISERABLY.

He apparently hasn't learned the fine art of straw fights.

Mom however has learned the fine art of lightsaber maiming.

Soon, our first character came by. Leia Minnie!

My hair is a hot mess!

And then it was time for food, before the next character came by. My plate.

We've got some salmon (which was awesome!), beef, chicken, mac and cheese, meatballs, rice, and corn pudding. The salmon and the chicken were really yummy.

Soon Jedi Mickey came by. I'm so awkward in this picture. I'm so tall, that I was kneeling all weird hanging on to the chair. What a goober.

Use the force!
