They chopped the lawn mower tree

Yea, they chopped it about a year ago, just part of them having to remove trees that were damaged during the hurricanes and/or were dying. Had they not topped it, it would have eventually fallen, which obviously they don't want.

I'm sure they're paying special attention to it, not sure if it's something they plan on having come back or what they'll do with it.

Not to sound stupid, but what is the lawnmower tree? I'm not even sure if we even took notice of it during our recent stay. Do they still have peacocks there? Don't laugh---I'm just confused!

The peacocks have been gone for a few years, I think the main reason being during mating season they like to peck on shiny things, mainly the sides of cars and campers. I think just too many people complained, and they decided to relocate them.

As for the lawnmower tree, it's by the marina, just to the left right before you get to the beach. It's a tree from when they first were clearing the Fort that had a old fashioned push lawnmower stuck next to it, and the tree had started to grow around it. Now the tree is almost entirely around it, it's amazing when I look at the old pictures from the 70's how much less is covered.

You know all of WDW was planed around the lawnmower tree.:thumbsup2

You know.....I wouldn't be completely surprised! Can you imagine stumbling upon something like that when you are clearing? I'm sure it would have been one of those kismet moments in Walt's eyes! Just one more quirky detail that sets WDW apart from everywhere else!

Figured since some people haven't seen it and I already posted the other pictures, I might as well post the picture of the sign.
