I guess this is old news but I am back from a little break and was so upset to find my beloved game gone.

I don't understand the new rules...even for the regular ship game (you have to choose a ship? You can't play the computer anymore?) but I seem to have to start at level 1 again, and even there I get blown up right away.

I also don't understand the capture the flag rules at all!

And of course, as usual, when you try to ask a question, no one wants to bother to answer you, so I turn to my beloved Dis friends.

Can anyone help me?

Thanks,

Shar

Are you on now? Would you like to play? I can meet you if you'd like. There are 2 different games Capture the Flag or Ship Battle. In capture the flag, the teams need to be even before you start. In Ship Battle, computer ships are made to help fill in. Capture the flag is just like it says, each side tries to capture the flag and bring it back to it's home base. The 3 different ships each have their own strengths, the Black Pearl is fast, the flying dutchman is tougher and the othe holds more cannons.

Lots of changes to try and take in, but after a few games it's not so bad.

Hi AZCat and thank you for your offer. I am just back now but not for long; I'll probably try to figure it out tomorrow. Anyone want to meet and help me out tomorrow at some point?

Which ships are people choosing? And what the heck does the flag even look like?

I really liked playing the original pirates as it was relaxing for me and I was good at it! I hate change... :(

When playing Capture the Flag, most people choose the Black Pearl since it's "fast" and is good for getting the flag and bringing it back to base. I don't play much regular battles anymore, but when I do I use the Flying Dutchman because of its stronger health. Personally I never go near the Wicked Wench because I always end up getting blown up in one shot when I use it.

When you start the game, you'll be positioned near your team's flag (Port Royal white or Pirates black) and your job is to cross the water and get the OTHER team's flag and bring it back to your own base. If you get shot while you're holding the flag you'll drop it. It's quite fun once you get the hang of it!

Or your job could be to stop the other team from getting your flag. Why does everyone want to choose the fastest ship and fight their own teammates for the flag, leaving their area undefended? That's not the way to win.

Well, of course you could be the one to guard your flag as you see fit. Often it's necessary if the other team is heading over too fast. I was just pointing out the basics of the game.

I watch and see what my teammate is going to do. If the FIGHT comes up and they sit there, they might not know what to do so I move toward the opponents' flag. They also may not know to defend our flag so I have to move fast and shoot as much as I can to make it back to base with their flag. If they take off for the flag, I head for our flag to defend it. It only takes a time or two and people figure it out. You can tell when they get it figured out, too, because they suddenly jump to action and when the game is over and I join a new game, they join me in the new game. That is the fun part....knowing they are getting the idea of it and they are having fun. Of course, winning and getting those credits has something to do with it, too! ;)
