They can't give out more than 3 FP+

In order to increase the number of FP+ given to each guest, they would have to increase the number of FP+ available per attraction. This, in turn, would result in a ratio of FP:SB that favors FP even more than now. Eventually, they could get to the point where the ride's capacity could only handle the number of FPs given out. I doubt they would go to that extreme, which is why OP contends they cannot increase the number of FPs given to each guest. Those additional FP+s would have to come from somewhere and that somewhere would be more FP+ and less SB.

YES! this is exactly what I mean.

What I think they will do is offer 3 tiered FP+s in advance then offer one at a time first-come first-served beyond that once each FP+ is used. Of course, they will run out.

I would not be surprised if this was what they implemented. This would also help with people booking all FP+s in the evening. You could get another one after you have entered the park and used one FP+.

This is exactly what one of the survey options was. The extra FPs were unlimited (subject to availability) and could be any attraction from any tier. The only restriction was needing to use one to book one.

The kind that is NOT FAIR! What about people who need to walk into the park at 2:00 PM and ride TSMM? ;)

:rotfl: I'm afraid my consideration for others seems to take a slide on Sundays. I shall work on that :teeth:

Honestly, I do wonder if booking in advance from anywhere you happen to be for a ride at 2.15 pm on May 15th is likely to see more unused FP slots taken now than with the old system. At least with FP- the guest was physically in the park already when pulling the slip of paper. They didn't have to worry about whether they would make it to MK that day - they were there. Now, in addition to having more people using FP+ I think the advance remote booking option days, weeks or even months ahead is going to see people taking up FP's that they end up not being able to use. Oh and you can cancel them on the app, but not on the website.

I agree with that. I have favored model like this since the test rolled out. It's really the only way to put the FP genie *mostly* back into the bottle. The benefit to guests is that they won't feel so "locked in". The reason Disney won't do it is because guests won't be so "locked in". :rolleyes1

Well, I HATE being so regimented , so after next planned trips are concluded and premium AP expires, it will be goodbye WDW for us for a long, long time~ unless the get rid of this new garbage system.

Disney doesn't have to ration rides. They could have just as easily opted to spend that $1.5B on more attractions to increase capacity.

You said it! If we can see this, how come they couldn't? People rise to their level of inability and the incompetence of whomever made this decision is glaring!

It's the 'new world.' We all have to be the same; ie. 'equal' - results even if we are different, plan different, go more often, learned the system, etc. IMHO : This new social order of making us all the same (equal) ~ sucks! We are not renewing our premium annual passes when they expire. My money will go to visit more places on my 'bucket list.' Sad, but Disney screwed this up- ROYALLY!
We were pushed to that point about 3 years ago" :(

::yes::

I think two things will happen. 1. Everyone will sign up for three FP+'s because that is what you get, and if "I can have it I want it." Does not matter if you need them. Under the old system many people would not bother getting a FP if the ride had a line of @10-15 minutes. Most FP machines were next to the ride queue and you could make an informed decision. Now you book 60 days out or maybe even the morning of, having no idea what the stand by line would be when you get there three hours later, thus artificially increasing fast pass usage on certain rides. 2. There will be a higher percentage of not used fast passes as signing up for rides far in advance does not take into account general fatigue, being out in the sun on a 93 degree day, sudden rain, 8 year old is now terrified of the ride seeing it in person, etc. During the busy seasons even the ability to move FP+s may not be worth it when you are losing out on space mountain and find out only the mad tea party and monsters inc have times that are available while you were planing on staying in the park.

We have been to Disney many times and probably did not use more than 3 or at most 4 FPs in a day. I liked the flexibility of the old system. Disney changed to this because they figured out that people who used the FP system had shorter waits and were more satisfied than those guests that did not utilize the FP system. The sad fact in modern USA is that most visitors did not want to do all of that walking, so this is the solution.

Probably down the line Disney ride usage actuaries will figure out some kind of FP nonusage algorithm and adjust numbers and types of FP+ for us all to use. This could be a great system in a couple of years................

FP+ just won't meet anyone's needs. Instead of small, cosmetic changes, the only real solution would be to link the Magic Bands to the old, paper fast pass system. Why on earth would that not be feasible? Leave the system open to anyone to grab fast passes as needed. When they're gone, they're gone.

You aren't seeing this the way Disney does. Take for example, the SDMT. Look how long we've waited, and how much they spent to build it thus far. Do you really think it will reduce crowding? Crowds will increase, if anything. Fantasy Land will be a nightmare to move through.

Disney wants to ensure that the teeming millions in other countries who want to come there will have a good experience. FWIW I don't like FP+ much either, but I understand their logic. People will spend just as much to shop and eat there, go home with their 3 rides done and tell everyone they had a great time. Those who hear the positive reviews will be the next ones making resort reservations and buying tickets. The world market is huge and the profits will be as well.
