They Call Me MISTER PIG- He Said, She Said (9/1 Lights, Thunder, Fantasmic? Page 47)

i am so excited to hear about your trip! we are going with my little cousin and she's a "princess" also we will see how this turns out :D

It's taken me a little while to get back and get caught up, but I have to say these are some wonderful updates! How wonderful for the two of you to have some alone time in the World, and even better that The Cat enjoys going to the Neverland Club! ;)

Thank you for sharing your story! I'm sorry to hear that it's almost over... :goodvibes

I just found your trip report last night and now I'm all caught up. Can't wait for the rest of it!

This is a quick drive by post. Cat and I leave for Nationals tomorrow and the house is being turned upside down to make sure we have every last piece of every last costume. Oh and she is on Wed and Thursday for those who want to watch.

I will get to the replies that I have been neglecting on Friday. And then a new post though I dont want to do it because we are down to two. Sad faces everyone.

Back! Just got back and wanted to say thanks for all the well wishes. Cat had a ton of fun in fact I might do a tiny TR here about all that we did before getting back to the Disney addiction

Welcome back. :goodvibes How did the competition go?

The Princess stage is so much fun. I feel bad because Cat is already starting to grow out of it. So enjoy all of her smiles while they last.

Yeah my DD was a little afraid she would get in "trouble", LOL! She didnt have as much fun as she could have had I think.

Aww! That's too bad! Our "Aunt" never picked on Cat at all. In fact she kept saying how good Cat was compared to us. Apparently we are naughty children ;)

We needed to get some us time. I know a Disney Trip is generally about the kids but without some adult time we would have been ready to throw in the towel a lot sooner. And I am so bummed we are down to two more Disney installments. What will I do with all my time then?

I just found your trip report last night and now I'm all caught up. Can't wait for the rest of it!

Welcome! :goodvibes We will try to get up something soon. I am leaving for Texas on Sunday. I am never home anymore!

Hi Becca! Back from our trip and all caught up on the latest installment.

Laughed out loud at your experiences with 50s PTC. The pix of He trying to hide his lettuce was hysterical! And -- I LOVE that Fried Chicken dish!

And, on a side note for all PPs - don't be afraid to try 50s PTC. You can alert the hostess before you're seated that you don't want to be picked on - they'll gladly leave you alone if that's what you want. There are many kids out there who would not realize it was all for "play" - the staff understands that. You could then just sit back and enjoy everyone else getting yelled at!

The fried chicken at PTC was so yummy. I wish I had some right now. And I think you are right about them knowing when to back off. Our "Aunt" never scolded Cat once. I think she understood that it is more fun for the kids to watch their parents get in trouble. :goodvibes

Hey Showstoppers has one National in Annaheim, you should lobby for the studio to go there and then you can go to Disneyland! ::yes::

I would but with the flight costs these days :scared1: Besides if dance gets much more expensive I worry that He will cut off Cat's feet.

Welcome back. :goodvibes How did the competition go?

Thanks! And as far as how did it go you will have to wait for my mini TR tomorrow to hear all about it ;)

Welcome back! I would love to read a mini-TR about it all!

Yea! I started on it tonight and will post it tomorrow! It has a ton of Cat pictures.

Thats all folks! I leave for Texas on Sunday night so we will try to get another Disney installment in before then. Thanks for reading!:goodvibes

I wanted to say I am sorry about the lack of updates. I am in Houston with the children and will be back on Thursday so hopefully by Friday I will be able to update.

Becca,

sounds like you guys had fun at Prime Time. We have been on the fence about this one for our upcoming trip. If they said something to my son he would be horrified and probably the rest of the day would be ruined. I guess I could tell them to pick on mommy and daddy and not him but who knows. Plus, he NEVER finishes his plate. :lmao:

I have other thoughts but its late so I'll write more tomrrow when I can remember them clearly! :lmao:

Hey Becca! Hope you guys are all doing alright! :) Hopefully all is well and you will be able to have a new chapter up soon! Have a great weekend! :goodvibes

Great trip so far. Filled with tons of fun. Guess I have to wait for more until you return.

It took me forever (I have been insanely busy) but here is a mini TR I promised.

You Can't Stop The Beat: Dance Nationals

She Said- I hate to break it to you but since He didn’t go with us to Nationals there will be no He Saids. I know! Just assume that somewhere he is begrudging every bit of dance and money spent, but that he is secretly very proud of The Cat. I am not so secret about my pride. I think she worked it!

Anyway, originally the Baby and my mom were coming with us, but my darling boy got sick, so my mom being the amazingly kind woman she is agreed to keep him at our house during the day while He worked. She is the bestest mom ever (well next to me! LOL) She really comes through for us when we need her!

So Tuesday morning we were up and at em’ early. I had spent forever getting together every last bit of make up and costumes, and making The Cat new flip flops and hair bows, and putting rhinestones on her Nationals shirt. See her dance studio is moving in August to a bigger space. They decided with the move it was time to redo their colors, so no more hot pink and silver, it was now blue and green, meaning The Cat needed new stuff to match, and since we had it pounded into our heads that ALL the girls MUST be in Dance Shop attire at awards I was determined to have her be super cute. Of course other moms found out what I was up to and I got roped into making stuff for them to. I really was quiet the softy on this trip.

It was a four hour drive to Myrtle Beach from our home in NC. I won’t get into it all. The movie player was my best friend, and The Cat had way too much McDonalds. Finally around 3 we checked into our hotel, not oceanfront because The Cat doesn’t do the ocean. I love it. I grew up a surfer kid, but neither He nor The Cat care for it. And this was her trip. Not mine, hers.

On the drive down we past Broadway at the Beach and The Cat saw both Hard Rock and Planet Hollywood and wanted to go to one for dinner. We checked in and found our room happy and clean with not a stinky smell anywhere. We had made plans to meet a friend of Cat’s for mini golf later so I made the calls to set it all up, I was told we should meet up around 7.

Okay The Cat was hungry and so we had enough time to get something to eat, and she settled on Planet Hollywood. That stupid big blue ball is a magnet and she loved the Power Ranger costumes and her Finding Nemo drink (is this Disney approved?) She (being miss picky) had fries and a salad. I had LA lasagna which looked much better than it was. It was kinda nasty but I was hungry so I ate what I could. It was now 6. I called the Mom B (the mini golf mom!) and found out that they still hadn’t gotten ready to go eat and so it would be closer to 8.

That’s fine. I am being chill girl. See me? All cool and collected? Yup I am totally chillin. So we head back to the hotel and hit the pool. The Cat thought this was wonderful and I loved how warm it was. So we swam- for an hour. And then I forced the Cat upstairs to shower and blow dry her hair straight (for competition the next day). By 7:30 we are pretty much ready and start heading up towards North Myrtle where Cat’s friend was staying.

It didn’t take nearly as long as I remembered so to kill some time we headed over to Barefoot Landing. Cat was given a balloon animal much to her delight and I decided to get her an airbrushed shirt, in Dance Shop colors of course, and with the needed dancer on the front.

Picture of Cat in the new shirt:

Well by now it was after 8 and I hadn’t heard anything, I called her a dozen or so times as time clicked on. The Cat was getting worried (I was getting annoyed), and even the shopping wouldn’t distract her. By 9:00 I decided enough was enough (I was no longer chillin), the girls had competition the next day and The Cat goes to bed by 8 normally. Cat and I would play putt putt by ourselves. (Her heart was so set on it that I couldn’t dare not to go at all).

Well as I pull out of Barefoot I get a call on my cell. Its Mom B, and they are ready to play. It takes a little bit to narrow down a course but it all works out and The Cat and her friend have a blast while Mom B and I talk dance and school and all the stuff mom’s talk about. All this fun is good but it makes for a late night with The Cat finding crawling into bed at 11. I looked at the clock and cringed. Oh my, was she going to be worn out!

Amazingly Cat was up and at them without any problems by 7. We went downstairs and had our free hot yummy breakfast with some very yummy biscuits (better than Disneys!) and then started the makeup process. I do not like stage makeup but her studio is better than some, about not having it too heavy. I dressed her with her costume underneath and let her where her new airbrushed shirt, while she stretched and warmed up.

nat1.jpg

By 10:20 a little over and hour before we HAD to be there I got a call on my cell. It was Mom B (mini golf mom!). He husband was very sunburned and ill and whatever she needed a ride. I being a big softy force The Cat back in the van and drive back up to North Myrtle to pick up her little friend and mom. The girls were happy about it and while I hated to cut the time so close I was happy to help. See me? I am a helper this trip. Softy and a Helper! That’s me.

We arrive right at 11:30 and we are the first ones we see from her class. Cat is already made up but I do some touch ups, take off her over costume outfit and send her with the teachers to practice. Me and Mom B grab us some seats to watch.

Now I am pretty okay with most dances. Cat’s is Itsy Bitsy (Polka Dot Bikini) and I generally don’t freak out about her showing her tummy. But the group on before her… oh they had me wondering what the heck their parents were thinking. They were in hot pink and black what looked like lingerie (It was made up to look like a bra- clasps and all!) The costume barely covered anything at all. And they danced to “If You Got It, Flaunt It”. It’s a funny song, but not for 6 year olds, especially dressed like they were. There was so much rump shaking and suggestive moves I was beyond sick. Mom B felt the same way. I just don’t get how 15 parents thought that was appropriate much less cute.

I forgot to take a picture of Cat in her costume at Nationals but here is one form earlier in the season.

nat1b.jpg

They were fourth up and I while Cat and several of the girls did very very well there were a few big mistakes, one girls mistake just happened to be shown on the big screen. It seemed like most of their timing was off. I felt bad but told them they all did great, some moms didn’t. I honestly am all for constrictive criticism but it was the end of the season, might as well let them enjoy it. Plus my DD rocked her part, she complained about her fingers afterwards but really held it together well on stage.

Well we had hours to kill before awards so we changed the girls into the Mandatory outfits and took a few pictures before we went to McDonalds for some lunch (yes again! I am so not winning mother of the year.) Here are some pictures, I blurred out her friends face.

We were back in time to see several of the older girls dance and some from other studios were awesome. Cat loves dance and happily watched so that was nice. It is time for awards and all the girls are supposed to be on stage so Cat and her friend head up there, then two more of their teammates join them, and then wearing bathing suits the studio owner’s daughter and her best friend. The girls place High Gold and 2nd in their category, and 2nd overall for their age. Now only two girls each competition go up and get the trophy and the medals. Cat has yet to be sent up, guess who goes this time? The Studio Owner’s Daughter and her friend, which made me angry because they were not dressed in the Mandatory shirts and they looked a mess. After hearing about how they HAD to be in TDS attire for them not to be really had me angry. Oh well.

I decided the Cat deserved a treat so I took her over to Ripley’s Aquarium.

nat4.jpg

I love the walked through tunnels and being under these guys.

nat5.jpg

They had a local weather man in the Sting Ray petting tank, where Cat for some reason had no problem getting the sting rays to come to her, some of the other kids weren’t so lucky.

nat7.jpg

There was a pirate exhibit that made Cat mildly freak out, which made me very glad we did not make her ride POTC on our Disney Trip. Okay here are a few more picture, the last one is because one of the workers at the horseshoe crab tank was teasing Cat about her outfit and medal and asked how she got them. Give Cat a chance to show off and she will.

He’s mom called and was in Holden Beach and did not want to be there any longer so I planned to drive her home the next day, made me a little mad that she didn’t come down to see her granddaughter dance but was fine with getting a ride. Oh well. I was being a big softy.

We walked around Boardwalk at the Beach when Cat looked up at me with some big puddy dog eyes.

“Mom?”

“Yes honey?”

“I did really good today, didn’t I?”

“Yup, kiddo, you rocked my socks, except I wasn’t wearing sock….(Insert long babble here)”

“Mom!”

Stops babbling “Yeah Cat?”

“Since I did so good, can I have one of those?”

Cat had spotted the funnel cakes. Oh the yumminess and while I really didn’t want to get her more junk to eat those big brown eyes were hard to resist so we bought one and shared it while we watched the sun set. Oh and since no TR (even a mini one) is completed without a food pic here you go:

nat12.jpg

We made it back to our room around 9 and poor Cat was so tired she fell and scrapped up her leg. It had been a long day. The next morning after another yummy hot free! Breakfast we hit the pool before I got her showered and dressed.

nat13.jpg

Then we met He’s mom at Barefoot Landing and since I was being a softy I took us all out for lunch at Margaritaville. My crab cakes were so good, normally when I am in Orlando I make sure to stop by City Walk just to go but we had skipped it on our last trip so this totally made up for it. By 2pm we piled in the car for the long drive back.

It had been a lot of fun and I am excited for the next dance season to start and to see her new dances.

Okay folks I am going to hog tie He tomorrow so we can get a Disney Update for all of you. Sorry about the delay.

Aww...loved the dance update! It must've been nice to have a mother/daughter weekend. Cat is so pretty and as I mentioned before, it brings back memories of my dance days! :goodvibes So feel free to put as much dance stuff into your TR as you want! Also, very excited about a new Disney update as this is my favorite TR! But, shh....don't tell the others! :rotfl:
