They Ate His Cake

But that is the only side of the story we have right now. I worked for Disney, so I guess I take offense at people insinuating that CMs are dishonest. I'm sure there are people who try to make themselves look better by fudging a story, but the majority of people I worked with were stand-up honest people. I have seen them admit to mistakes and do what it takes to make it right. I'm sure somewhere on property somebody has lied to a guest to cover their own butt, but that is not my experience.

I suppose there could be some kind of extenuating circumstance, but I honestly cannot think of one that would make it okay to not at least call the front desk and rectify the mistake. Unless the entire family could not read or see the writing, I don't see how they could have possibly thought it was meant for them.

I am just going by what the OP told us. If it happened as described, shame on that family. If it didn't happen as described... that's a different matter. It's not like any of us are ever giong to see the family in question to make a judgment as to their character.

Regarding your two points, both are coming from only one side, of course. And she is relying on what other people (CMs) told her. Is it at all possible that a CM might fudge a story a bit so that Disney doesn't look like bumbling fools? Is it possible she is remembering things differently than how they actually panned out? It is a story related to the OP from a friend, right? How do we know the friend isn't a total exaggerating drama queen?

I am not saying any of this is the case, just that it is possible. You as a teacher should know to never take one side of the story as the gospel truth. :)

Hmmmmmmmm

Did YOU get a "free" cake last trip??????????

hehehehehehehe

AS a Pirate, I see that people will go to very great lengths to get "something for nothing", an attitude that seems to prevail at WDW and DLR.

AS to room delivery, I have had problems with getting stuff delivered, but the CM's always seem to make it right. (considering the size of the resorts, its suprising how well they get things done.)

My best guess is that this happened at shift-change time at the front desk/desk call center and the message that the cake had been misdelivered never got to where it should have.

Some of my experiences with Disney front desk staff have led me to this as a possible explanation, but YMMV... :rotfl:

If that's the case then it is a whole different ballgame and the family did nothing wrong. Unfortunately, we don't know for sure one way or the other.

Good grief, I hope those cakey calories goes straight to their thighs. That is very mean.

Trish

Okay - I laughed out loud on that one!

I'm sorry for the little guy who had to wait for his cake. I'm glad Disney was able to get him one -- even if it took awhile.
