These fastpasses/single rider lines aren't worth it...

I remember reading somewhere in a past forum about how some fastpasses aren't "worth" as much (the fastpass line ends up being longer than you expect). Something about the lines merge early, so the wait at these rides were longer than other fastpasses? Anyone know this info or can point me to the correct thread (I couldn't find it while searching)

I don't remember anything like that at Disneyland...

I know I read somewhere here that there are some fastpass lines that merge with the standby line sooner. The sooner the fastpass line merges, the longer you have to wait. A fastpass line that merges late (aka: right before loading) will be a faster fastpass line (more worthwhile).

Anyways, it was just an interesting read how someone analyzed it and I wish I would have saved it!

for me its the single rider line on Indiana Jones is not worth it. I got through far far quicker using Fastpass compared with single rider.

Been there! Agree. maybe I will change the thread to "fastpass or single rider lines" that aren't worth it.

To that tune, I've also found Splash Mountain single rider not worth it if they are holding people back before the exit area. I stood there for about 15 minutes once, with no movement, before I just gave up and got a fast pass to ride later.

For me it's the opposite. You merge with the regular line so early with fastpass on IJ that I find single rider to be much more effective.

Matterhorn single rider can take FOREVER though. That one's not worth it.

TWICE in June I was stood against the wall before the single rider pen for over 15 minutes and just gave up. Thats 15 minutes just stood in one place and not moving, where as with fastpass in 15 minutes I was through to the safety video

I agree with @ashley0139 bout Matterhorn. SR not worth it. Usually.

Soarin used to be this way. SR not worth it. But I heard they ended SR.

Screamin' FPs are often not worth it because the line just does not get that long. SR is usually worth it on Screamin but sometimes not.

I think most everything else both SR and FP are usually worth it.

Yes, I've had that happen too, but not often. It's often much faster. The fact that fastpass joins up with standby when you go inside annoys me though, because the inside part is so long.

Isn't there a funky rider swap at IJ too? Maybe I am thinking of the single rider line.

California Screamin'. I waited more than 20min before I gave up and left. There were about 10 people ahead of me . I got a fastpass later that day and rider switched with DH (DH took the kids to King Triton's Carousel and I took the kids to the bathroom while waiting for each other ☺️). It took less than 15min.

Indiana Jones FP only skips the outside line. If there's no outside line it saves you no time. Splash merges right before loading as does BTMRR. Space merges well before the end, still a good 15 minutes wait at least. Star Tours gets you halfway up the inside main queue. HM skips most of the queue. Roger Rabbit skips the whole queue. Buzz skips the outside queue. Soarin mostly just skips the outside queue. Grizzly skips the whole queue. Screamin skips most of the queue. Goofy Sky School skips the whole queue. Not sure about the things that are new or have had FP added recently. Hope that helps!

Oh wow! Thanks for sharing your knowledge! I think you hit them all except the new TSMM and Matterhorn FPs.

TSMM skips most of the queue. Usually when you merge there are only about 20 people ahead of you. Very worthwhile!

Matterhorn skips everything that isn't under cover, also very much worth it.

I have an alternate opinion about single rider and most can be worth it (as long as you time it right):
Screamin-if there are people past the exit platform (so along the wheelchair ramp), then I skip it. But if you can't see the line then it'll only be a 5-10 min wait til you are on the ride.
Goofy-single rider very worth it (the ride itself, questionable), but they sometimes stop SR if it backs up.
Grizzly rapids-definitely worth it because most don't realize it's there.
Racers-as long as you can't see the line, I'll typically go for it. But it's always shorter than standby and if you can't get FP, then go ahead and do SR to save time.
Splash-I will at least walk down to the exit area to see the line. If the line goes up and down stairs and over the bridge, then no. If line ends on bridge, maybe. If line ends on down stairs, then yes.
Indy-you can't tell ahead of time so it's a guess. I've had times where there's been 3 of us doing SR and that's it. I've also seen times when there are plenty of people lined up waiting to get in SR line. If you really want to gamble, walk all the way up to the later CM (in the room with the rope dangling down to the explorer under the floor), if there is no line to get into the queue, then go for it, otherwise turn back, but that wastes a lot of time.

Excellent tips that I don't feel get shared very often! Thank you so much.

Last year I waited in the Soarin' single rider line got longer than people in the standby line, big mistake.

You hit the nail on the head. This is exactly how I feel. You have to know a lot to be able to judge the line accurately, though, so it doesn't necessarily work for people who don't come often.

Depending on how LONG the normal line is the Indy fastpass doesn't seem worth it. It joins up with the normal queue very quickly

I've long felt that they should have the fast pass line enter Indy in the same spot they send SR people to. When they put the new scanners in, that would have been a great time to make the change. It's too bad they hadn't. :(
