Unfortunately, it doesn't look like I can at this time, but I haven't made a final decision yet.

Hi guys! :goodvibes

So, SEA - Will you be joining us for our super fun MAYers meet in the 'burgh? popcorn::

Sorry to hear about the guy backing out on the sale. LAME!

Afternoon MAYers!

How is everyone?

Bad news here. . . We were supposed to close today on the sale of the building lot we own, but the guy backed out last night. :furious: I can't believe it!! I am so mad!

When we got the PIN for free dining for this fall I told DH I was going to book the trip but we would only go if we 1) Sold the house 2) Got the new house 3) DH passed his exam and got his certification he needed for work - which he did 4) DH got his raise for the certification before the "pay-freeze" went into effect at work - which he did and 5) We sold the lot - which we thought we had. I couldn't believe when everything fell into place. But now :sad2:. . . . . I asked DH last night if I should cancel the trip but he didn't answer me. :confused3 I don't think he wants to cancel it. But we are pretty disappointed about this deal falling through. We just wanted to be done with the whole thing.

Shelly - So sorry to hear about the lot! Maybe someone else will come thru and buy it!

I hope all the MAYers have a great weekend!

I hope everyone is having a great weekend.

Shelly -Is the move going well?
Rf- Is the house starting to feel like yours now?

We hostedour first BBQ for some of Jason's family today, so I guess you could say that we are definitely home now. Entertaining and showing people your house will do that. Our morning started off very wet and wild, as a thunderstorm ripped through sw. ontario. Not sure if you caught it over night Trixie in GR. Thunder, Lightning , Rain and Wind. I actually don't mind storms, and it was our first one in this house. Different view and feel to it.

But by noon it was sunny and beautiful, perfect weather actually.

:)

Yep, we had it during the night and WOW was it ever a doozie! The girls couldn't sleep and the cats were in my bed. Not the most restful night ever. :sad2: But like you said, it was a beautiful day today! :cloud9:

Hi Mayers - Had my mom's service today. It turned out very nice. We had over 300 people in attendance - a really beautiful SoCal day - perfect weather - 78 and a slight ocean breeze. Everyone was so kind and generous. We all felt uplifted after it was all over.

Tomorrow we are going down to DL after church to have some fun - I am thinking about riding Splash Mountain or Grizzly River Rapids a few times.

Have a good night friends. Thank you for all your prayers, hugs and support during this time.

Tommy (Sea)

Sea - I am so glad to hear the service went well. I know you really put a lot of your heart and soul into it.

Have a great day @ DL!

Well hello my busy MAYer buds!

We are FINALLY home after our whirlwind month long vacation. It has been fun and tiring and I'm happy to be here at last.

Sea- so happy your tribute to your Mom went well and you felt uplifted afterwards. I know she was smiling on all of you.:)
Can't believe you are going to WDW in Nov. That is so great. Where will you stay?
ALso- so cool that L. and C. got to go to the MJ memorial service. How neat to be able to say they were there.

Shelly- wow- so much has happened. Did you ever find out why the guy backed out of the purchase of the lot? That stinks. Are you moved in yet? I know this weeked was hectic. Check in when you can.

Lake- thanks so much for sharing your pics of the house. I love love love your kitchen. So cool. The house is just beautiful and I'm so happy you guys are liking the neighborhood.

RF- Congrats again on owning your first home. I know it takes some time, but before long you will be a pro at calling plumbers, bug guys, electricians, etc.:lmao: I'm now unafraid of doing so. Even if all it takes is a little bit of WD-40 or Liquid Plumber.:rotfl2:

NC-- have so much fun in DC. That sounds cool-- riding the bikes at night. I was trying to watch a show on the History channel about the FreeMasons and their link to DC, but I was rudely interrupted by a child needing to go to the pool, so I never saw it. Have a fun and safe trip.

Mari-- the lake. ewwwww. I grew up going to the lake, to which my Mother would stand on the shore yelling as loud as she could "jodi! DO NOT put your head under that water, you'll get an AMOEBA in your EAR!!!!!!" not fun.:rotfl2:

Sulley-- I hope you have fun with your friend who has never been on a plane or to Disney- sounds like you will have a great time... and a fun Birthday celebration in the process.:)

Trixie--- I'm so glad you got to see M. Phelps and you positioned yourself just so that you could catch the breeze off of him.:lovestruc:worship::cool1:
Did you hyperventilate? When I see Tebow, I sorta do.

Hello to all other MAYers in MAYerland. I have to go to the grocery store. I never thought I'd ever say this...
but I'm sick of eating out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:scared1:

It's great to be home. Hope y'all have a great day. I plan on doing a mini TR of Maui this week-- I have some beautiful pics to share.

Jo

Hello!

Well we are all moved in. I sure am glad that yesterday is over! But we still have a lot of work ahead of us. Things need hooked up and thing need hung, etc. . . We are getting there!

Hope all is well with the MAYers! :goodvibes

hi all.

Jo- so good to see you again.

shelly- yah!!!! to be all moved in.

nc- have a fantastic trip to dc.

sea- I am so happy your mom's memorial went well and you were able to be with others who loved her as well. :)

I hope everyone is enjoying a wonderful summer weekend.

Today I am packing... yep again..only this time it's because the kids and I are off to my parents for a few days of relaxation . Jason is on his way to chicago in the morning, so we are going to take our little go away while he's is away for work that way we are all together by the weekend again. :)

So don't worry about me if I don't check in for a few days, I'll be off dipping my toes into lake huron's waters, building sandcastles and eating lots andlots of ice cream... :rotfl:

hugs to all.

Okay- so all is quiet in the JoBird house- kids are sleeping, dog is snoring, I'm just passing time that I should be using to do that mountain of laundry- but instead- I shall start my Maui TR. Yay me.

I left Charleston on that Wednesday, flying to Chicago where I met up with Mark. We boarded the flight- and spent the next 8 hours trying to pass the time.
The inflight movies were "New in town" and "He's just not that in to you". Mark watched the first, but slept thru the second. I guess he "Just wasn't that into it".
I thought Both were okay. But man, that is a looooooooooooooooooooooooooong butt flight. By the time we got to Maui, it was 1 pm there, 7 pm on the East Coast. I had been up since 3 am E/T. We waited for an eternity for our luggage and I called the kids. They couldn't believe it was time for lunch for us while they were ready for bed.

We hailed a cab and got a really personable lady that, when Mark asked if she could stop at the grocery store so he could run in for 5 minutes- just to get a case of water- and to please keep the meter running, she replied- "No worries, man, you're on island time, you're on vacation. Relax. People come from stateside and they want to keep rushing around. You need to slow down, hang loose."
Yep- we definitely were in Hawai'i.:goodvibes

So on to the hotel. The resort we stayed at was about 20 minutes from the airport. We stayed at the Grand Wailea in Wailea.
It was phenomenal.

The entrance-

The Grounds as you pull up to the front of the hotel-

When you get out, there are valets there to get your bags and women to put a lei on you and greet you properly.

The entrance to the hotel is awesome- very grand and regal looking. I rated the entrance as a "10" compared to the Ritz Carlton's "7" in Kapalua, the last time we stayed in Maui.
You are shown into the lobby-

passing by a bar area-

where you check in.

Then we were taken on a 10 minute walk to our room.
The resort is huuuuuge. People who hate walking at WDW should never ever come here, LOL.

And all entrances were "outside" entrances. In fact, the last 2 resorts I have stayed in were outside entrances. So much for the " A Deluxe must have interior entrances in order to be nice and expensive" arguement.:rotfl:

And a baby pool outside-- cute---

The room- was beautiful.

Mark decided he would go explore the resort while I sat on the balcony and decompressed. When he got back, it was nearing 5 pm- and one of the surprises for Jo--- he had gotten us ressies at one of the restaurant's on site called Humuhumunukunukukapua'a. Shortened- just "Humu".

We went to dinner and he had Tuna and I had Salmon. I gave it a "6". It was moderately expensive- $150 for the two of us, no drinks, desserts or appetizers.
I didn't take my camera, wish i had, but I got pics of the restaurant later in the trip.

When we got back to the room, we sat on the balcony, listening to the water and I fell asleep in the chair. Sooooo tired!

We were asleep by 9:30 that night. We woke the next morning at 3 am.

I'll continue later-- if anyone is interested in seeing the rest of the pics and wants me to finish. I have to do laundry.

Nice report Jo! I love the resort! FYI - The resort we stayed at in HI also had outdoor entrances. We have stayed in some very nice resorts in Scottsdale, AZ as well. Guess what, outside entrances there too. Hmm...

More HI please! (except I might not get to read about it until I get back from DC.)

I want more, more, more!!! :dance3:

Everything is sooo beautiful! :cloud9: I just loved the whole relaxed vibe of Hawaii. I could use some of that right now! Just hang loose. Someday we'll get back there...DD9 really wants to see the lava tubes. :confused3

I'm so excited that Vera got to go to Maui. ;) She looks perfect in that room (the view is pretty nice, too)! My Vera got to go to Nationals, but not to the pool...she wasn't a very happy Cargo Sling for a while. She was very jealous that my Libby went to the pool with me.

JO - A ten minute walk to your room from check-in and exterior entrances. . . :scared1: Wow you won't want to talk about that outside of this thread!! Seriously though, wow beautiful pictures!! :cloud9: Can't wait for more!

Have a great DC trip NC!

Thanks for all the well wishes for our trip. I was up at 6 today to get the laundry done! I am happy to report that all NewCrew Laundry is folded or hung as well as ironed!

I have told my dd to pack!

I went to the gym, called the pharmacy, my furniture store and have taken Chris to football. All by 10:30 a.m.

I hope the rest of the day goes this well!

Hey guys. :guilty:

I found out that our credit card number was stolen sometime last week.... I checked my account and it was missing just under $300. :sad1: There is now $52 in my checking account.... Until Friday.

Seriously....??? People make me so furious. :furious: Get a job and go buy your own **** with your own money. Like I don't have enough to worry about right now.

Somone was using it in Hicksville, NY. So, we file a claim tomorrow after the transactions post. Hopefully they will be smart enough to see that we were clearly not at "Old Country Road Dist, Hicksville NY" because we have a transaction there about an hour before the one that posted in PGH at Home Depot on Bob's card.

Ugh. Now I have to call and cancel EVERYTHING. This is a nightmare....

I had that happen a couple of years ago RF, but it was my debit card...which was obviously for my checking account...which was also tied to my savings. They totally wiped out those accounts! Luckily, we had another account to use. But really, the process of getting everything back wasn't too hard, it just took some time.

It stinks though. JERKS!
