Have a great weekend everyone! :flower1:

Hi Shelly - I see that our nice weather from last weekend made it to your home. :cool1: We were suppose to have a storm system come in this week, but it broke down and we had no rain, only cooler weather and sunny. I think we are just going to be in the 70's this weekend. Hope you have a nice weekend!

Happy Birthday Andrew!! :cheer2::jumping1:party:party::bday::cake:

Hi MAYers--

Happy Birthday to your son, KIM!!! He looks so cute with his King for the Day crown.:goodvibes
Hope the Birthday Fairy is good to him.:)

Awwwww, heck. Now I want cake. :lmao:

KB--- If the Grand Californian was at WDW-- I'd be all over that like white on rice every time I went there (um, could AFFORD to go there!). Now THAT is a beautiful resort.:cloud9:

Yep, it sure is. All of the little details are so beautiful and so elegant. I like all of the different themes at the WDW deluxes. I've never seen the Wilderness Lodge, and I have a feeling I'd really like the atmosphere. We loved AKL and the Polynesian when we ate there. We've only been twice, and stayed at the Pop and Port Orleans FQ (which we loved!) When we go back again, not sure where we'll stay -- depends on the deal we get, I guess, and how many go with us. My 19 year old son has said he would like to drink his way around the world at Epcot once he turns 21  Noah was actually a lot of fun to go to DL with -- Mike, too -- would be great if my boys could make it for at least part of the trip.

Good morning Mayers!

KB - Another good thing about the GC is the free WiFi that reaches all over the lobby and pool and snack bar area. :)

Today's "Disney" adventure continues in Griffith Park as we go and visit Walt's Barn. This beautiful place has been restored and cared for by the Carolwood Pacific Historical Society. The barn was on Walt's home property on Carolwood Drive in Los Angeles. It is where he would go after work and the weekends to play and work on his train and railroad that he built around his home. Many of the artifacts in the barn were actually built or used by Walt himself.

Walt's Barn is open the 3rd Sunday of each month. And it is free admission, but they do accept donations at the gate. The property is shared with the L.A. Live Steamers - where you can take train rides around the barn.

I had always wanted to visit this place and it is less than 20 miles from my home. I will definitely be coming back here to soak up more of the history of this place and ride some of the trains too.

What an amazing place Sea! It's so fun to learn more about Walt and how all the magic began. Thanks for sharing!

I just finished baking 3 batches of brownies for tomorrow. The kids and Jason taste tested them for me already.

We're off to a local park to let the kids play on the playground and to walk along the water. The weather is beautiful!!!!

Thank you Kim!

Glad to hear that you are having great weather. I love brownies! I bet they were good!

Happy Easter Mayers!

I hope you all have a wonderful day with your friends and family.

After church today, my wife and I are heading out of town for the next three days to unwind from the last three months of craziness. Hopefully, we will get some rest and have a little fun too.

See ya!

Sea :cool1:

Hope everyone had a good Easter!:goodvibes

Sea------ I hope you guys didn't head South for your minivacation------ check in and let us know everything is okay with you when you can.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter!!!!

Wanna know the highlight of my day yesterday??? :yay:

On the way home from Easter parties Jason and I were talking about our next Disney trip!!!! I like to bring it up when we're in the car- he can't walk away and avoid it. :lmao: I said I'd like to go when the Christmas decorations are up and of course he looks at me and says "You know it's not in our budget to go in Dec. and neither of us have vacation days left for 2010." Of course I meant Dec. of 2011 which is forever away- see pathetic ticker below for the exact countdown. If I weren't already sitting down in the car, I would have fallen over! He doesn't want to wait that long to go back!!!!! So we are looking at possibly going next spring.....

ready MAYers.....

you might want to sit down for this one......

we may be going in MAY of 2011!!!!!

It's a year away still but my head is already spinning with Disney plans!!!! We've already decided we'll be flying and more than likely staying at CBR again. His only trip stipulation is that we stay at CBR or better- no values. I think I can live with that rule. I would love it if the "or better" could fit into our budget but we'll see. I'd love to stay Wilderness Lodge or Poly. Being right on the monorail would be fantastic! I'm bouncing this morning!!!!:banana:

Morning MAYers!

Hope everyone had a nice weekend. We sure enjoyed some nice weather. It was in the 80's!! :cool1: It's a little cooler today, but still very nice. The kids are outside right now. We go back to school tomorrow.

DS10 turns 11 Wednesday. We celebrated his birthday this weekend since Wednesday will be taken up with school & soccer practice. We do birthday parties every other year. Since this is an off year we let him pick where he wanted to go. And while I was thrilled that he didn't pick Chuck E Cheese, he picked Cabela's. http://www.cabelas.com/ Not really my type of place, but the boys all love it! So we were off Friday morning and made the trip down. It's near Wheeling WV. Took us about 1 1/2 hours. I got to pick where we went for lunch (since my b-day is coming up too :goodvibes) and we went to Cheddar's. http://www.cheddars.com/ It was very good! I had an excellent Hawaiian chicken salad. We also stopped at a Cold Stone Creamery on the way home. Very good, but very pricey for ice cream!

Took the kids to an Easter Egg Hunt Saturday. It was so fun to not have to hunt for eggs in the snow!! DS10 had his first hockey game Saturday. Then we did his birthday cake yesterday. Busy weekend!

YAY for MAY Kim!! :snooty: Wow, maybe you & JO can meet up. She always seems to end up going in MAY!! :goodvibes Hmm. . . MAYbe I should think about MAY. . . Probably wouldn't work out with going in November, since they will be in the same school year. . . BUT I could justify it by saying that we are trying to squeeze in one more trip before DS goes to middle school the following school year. . . Definitely something to think about!! :rolleyes1 We would go the very first week of May if we ever go in May again. . . We always have the first Friday in May off school. What week are you looking at??? I can't believe Jason wants to stay at CBR again!! :goodvibes It is pretty awesome. :cloud9: I vote for POR if he decides he wants to try something new though. :thumbsup2

Sea -- check in when you can. Hope you are okay!

Hi JO

Shelly- Happy almost birthday to DS!!!! Sounds like you had a full weekend! We've been to the one in Hamburg before. I hear you about it not being your type of place. Mine either! The fish tank was neat though and the kids liked all the animals.

I'm not sure which week in May yet. It's all very tentative at this point anyway. Although I know that if I make the plans we will be going! Poor DH was just like "let me know when I have to take off work.:rotfl:" He knows me so well! He loves to play like he's not into it. He's not fooling anyone. ;)
I was thinking about the third week in May before the Memorial Day crowds and after the Grad Nights & Spring Break crowds. I may try to time it that we can be there for the first Star Wars Weekend but that depends on the dates for SWW next year. I'd love to be there for the Flower & Garden Festival. So many things to consider! My only trip in May was when I was 9 so this is all new territory for me. I'm open to any advice from more experienced MAYers!

We have gone twice in MAY, 2007 & 2008. Both Mother's Day week. The F&G Festival was going on both times, very beautiful! :goodvibes

May 2007 was perfect - weather and crowd wise. It was a bit on the hot side, but not too bad. Highs in the mid 80's, but cooling into the mid 70's in the evenings. Crowds were low with most waits being 20 minutes or less.

May 2008 wasn't quite as perfect. It was in the mid 90's all week and terribly humid. Crowds weren't bad, a bit more than the previous year, but still not bad at all.

I hear the closer to the end of the May, the more crowded it gets.

So like I said - if we ever go in May again, it will be the very first week - for 2 reasons, one being that we have one day off school that week and the other would be hoping that it wouldn't be quite so hot!

I'm sure you can get lots of MAY tips right here from all the MAYers!! :snooty::goodvibes

I really hope this trip happens for you! :wizard:

Woo hooooooooo a MAYer trip in.... May!!! :cool1: Yay for MAY!!!:goodvibes

Love May. Hope you get to go then, Kim. It's my fave- but I'm one of those wacky people that hates any temperature lower than 70 degrees. :goodvibes

Now August/September in Florida is a different story- but May-- love it.

We too went in 2007 and 2008 Mother's Day week but last year we went to DL instead in June.

I can let you know how I like the POLY.

The WL is beautiful- if I ever go again for Christmas (not very likely ;)) we will stay there. Because of that huge fireplace of course. Me and heat go hand in hand.

The later in May the more crowded it gets. If I were you I'd look at Touring plans and see the crowd calendar this year for MAY- it might give you a better idea.

:goodvibes

Shelly------- I can't believe your baby is getting so big. Time is flying by so fast. It makes me sad. Glad you guys had a perfect weekend and the weather was great.

Do you have blisters on your feet????????

:lmao:

Thanks Kim! :goodvibes

Yes, I was very bored at Cabela's. . . And DS8 informed me that he wants to go there for his birthday in October! :faint:

:lmao:

I know, I'm so sad that he'll be a teenager in a few years.

Yes, it was a beautiful weekend. Couldn't have asked for anything better.

 Nope, no blisters. Didn't wear the HFT shoes long enough!!

Shelly & Jo- Thanks for the crowd tips. I hadn't looked into the crowd levels for May too much yet. I'd love to go for Mother's Day and have tea at the GF with my mom, sis and DD. We have tea every mother's day but having it at Disney would be spectacular! Maybe I can convince Jason to go for the whole month of May so we can celebrate Mother's Day, see the flowers and Star Wars. :rotfl:

I really hope this trip happens for you! :wizard:
Oh It's happening alright!!! I'm booking it and banking $$$ for it already! Just have to decide exactly which week and iron out the details. :woohoo:

Quick hi, it's late and I'm exhausted...

Hi Sea, have a nice few days out of town :goodvibes

Kim, Yay for May!!! :banana::banana::snooty::snooty::banana::banana:

Shelly, HB to your son, and to you! party:

Jo, your trip is fast approaching...are you packed yet??? Can't wait to hear about the Poly...

I am really going to do a TR for our DL trip in March, I just don't have the pics loaded from the laptop to the main computer. Seems like every single second I'm at work, or running errands for my mom, or trying to catch up on housework. *sigh* I'll get around to it, soon I hope...
