Just journaled and realized all day I had 4 of them! Not sure if that is ok, I have a big time sweet tooth so they have taken the palce of that but I feel I may be doing it too much! what do you all think? any alternatives?

Well.... I certainly would be the first to recommend a piece of fruit or something in place of at least ONE of those packs... but I understand the cravings. But keep in mind that many of those packs have lots of things that you shouldn't be consuming large quantities of (like hydrogenated oils). Personally, I try to limit those types of items to just one a day. Usually my evening treat.

I notice from another post that you are doing Weight Watchers. Just be sure that you are checking the the nutrition information on those 100 calorie packs. Depending on the fat and fiber, they range from 1 point up to 4 points, depending on which ones you are eating. Be sure that you are checking them and counting them appropriately. HTH...................P

I have done that many times, usually in the evening, when I just can't get satisfied. I think it's ok once in a while, but not everyday. For me, I know I have eaten less by having 4 individual packs than if I had a whole bag of cookies or chips available to me, and I didn't stop.

I bought the 100 cal packs of hostess cupcakes, and the chocolate ones are only 1 point per pack, but I can't have just one pack, so I don't buy them anymore. They are really good for a chocolate fix, if you can control yourself better than me.

If it's the salt you are craving, microwave popcorn definitely gives you more volume. I think for sweets, there are a lot of flavored yogurts, and puddings that are sweet and would be more protein than the snacks. But they don't always satisfy that craving.

hey thanks! yea I guess my mind set right now is better 4 100 cal packs than 2 devil dogs! So, I will definitely wean myself off a little. I am not really doing WW just I guess you can say dabbling! lol. That may stem from issues of commitment lol but thats a whole nother story!:confused3
What I have been trying to do is eat using my own common sense then referring to the WW book out of curiousity to see how many points I have eaten! Perhaps I should just take the plunge and do it I tend to make things more difficult than what they really are! I am like an all or nothign type person! thanks again and today only 2 100 cal packs! lol.

Word of warning on those 100 calorie packs (I am speaking of the ones that are 1 PT per pack; chocolate cupcakes, cinnamon muffins and blueberry muffins) 1 package is 1 PT; 2 packages are 4 PTS; 3 packages are 7 PTS and 4 packages are a whopping 9 PTS! When you eat multiples of an item they no longer fall into the 1 PT catagory, you have to recalculate your points. For example if each package had 100 calories, 3 grams of fat and 5 grams of fiber you would double everything, except the fiber (because you can only count 4 grams of fiber at the most). So for two packs you are now calculating 200 calories, 6 grams of fat and 4 grams of fiber.....which equals 4 PTS.

What she said!! I guess I should have mentioned this fact when I posted earlier.... sorry, I didn't think of it.....................P

hi all thanks thats good to know! I am happy to report that the past 3 days, I am down to 2 a day! one rice cake 100 cal and one nabisco 100 cal pack not at the same time! lol

Hey there! I'm an old veteran of the WISH board and I seem to come and go way too much.
But I happened upon this thread and thought I'd chime in with something I noticed recently.
We had been buying the 100 cal packs. Usually at Sam's Club because we were going through them so fast I hated buying the smaller boxes at the store. But if we were "desperate" for 100 cal packs, I would buy them at Kroger.

Then I started shopping at Whole Foods b/c the kids had cooking classes there. I've been stocking up on fresh fruits and granola and things that have way more nutrition than a typical 100 cal pack. Typically, these new snacks also have way more fiber.

And I just noticed the other day that the two big boxes of 100 cal packs from Sam's have gone untouched for the last 5 weeks or so. There may be a pack or two missing, but they are still mostly full.

Seems like the people in my house are gravitating towards the healthier stuff automatically and it's satisfying them more.

This may be TMI, but I've noticed that we are also not hitting the Metamucil nearly as much. Almost never, in fact. Seems the increase in fiber is helping in another way.

HTH.

100 calorie packs are good if you are only going to eat one pack once in awhile when you have a craving for something "bad." But all in all they are still junk food, packaged in a portion pack.

I eat junk at times but I love frozen field berries. Love them. I eat them frozen and whole. I bought them to use in smoothies but ate them whole and frozen one night and have been hooked. I go through at least a huge bag a week. I don't know the calories for sure or WW points. But I thinik I remember seeing that a cup is just under 100 calories.

Just posted because I believe you mentioned a sweet tooth.

What I do sometimes is make 100 calorie bags of dry cereal. Much cheaper and probably healthier. Most cereals are about 100 calories for a cup, so I just dump a cup in a ziploc bag and have that as a snack.
