thermos on plane

Does anyone know if it is ok to bring a thermos of hot water onto the plane with us? My 9 month old drinks ready to feed and it has been really convenient to bring a thermos wherever we go, so we don't have to wait for hot water.

They let you bring a steaming hot cup of coffee from Starbucks on the plane so I don't see why a thermos of hot water would be any different. I would use a plastic thermos though just so you don't have to deal with a metal one going off in the metal detector.

Don't the airlines have hot water that you could get from a flight attendant though. It seems like I have seen people get hot tea before. It might be worth a phone call to the airline.
