There's no time to slumber we're going back in November! we came we saw and started a TR for it all!

Chicago Mo:

I was using Pixsy to track down illegal uses of my photographs when I stumbled upon your post here. I registered just to reach out to you, if you had questions, about fireworks photography. You mentioned not wanting to put 8 hours of editing into a shot - I agree wholeheartedly. I spend, at most, 5 to 10 minutes editing my shot. The shot you found is from this Flickr page: https://www.flickr.com/photos/zetableh/11465056346/

You'll see that it's not layers and layers of shots, but instead one long exposure shot that lasted for 33 seconds. The reason things are so clear is because I was using a tripod to shoot it. In those 33 seconds, all those crazy fireworks happened, and it was all recorded on one frame of "film." No layering, no Photoshopping, no masking at all. Just a little Lightroom magic, and what you saw emerged.

I'll try to remember to check back in occasionally to see if I can help with any more questions you have! Happy shooting!

Ben

She won't need the call center to be open since ADRs can all be made online.

The original poster she was referring too stated she called at midnight and did her ADRs then so that's why I referenced the call center times. As far as I know, ADRs online cannot be made till 6 am.

Just found your planning report and skimmed it so far - we are going almost the same dates - Nov 15-21. I'll have fun reading through all your plans while making mine! We are DVC members as well (BLT) but this time we are venturing away from "home" and staying at GFV. Happy planning!

Happy Mother's Day a few days late :) I love the cute gifts your kids gave you! My son is five (almost 6) and this is the first year Daddy finally took the kid out to pick something for me. I got an I Love Mom mug...I don't drink coffee but I am officially in love with a cup! :)

I think because i am not watching the countdown it is going faster :confused3
I don't know.. once ADR's are done i know it's going to fly
it's TIME to get it all done!!!

I think you're right... it goes faster when you're not so much watching the countdown, but just checking in on it now and then. :dogdance:

This is such a great idea!!! I hope you don't mind i steal the fun facts and stuff??? add it to the kids binders!

Absolutely, please do! I've been using this site for my Disney history facts: http://thisdayindisneyhistory.homestead.com/

Exactly! if i feel better i can get so much more done! Like stairs! i can run up the stairs (with a knee brace) Yep, i need to get back on a work out program.. Especially walking. we need to get on our Disney walk workout.. Meg and i do it when the boys are practicing.. But i haven't been out there in a week or so.
No it is NOT selfish. it's taking care of you for the kids! still not about you. the kids need you! that's the way i see it.
What video do you use?

Thanks! Glad you agree with my theory! Sooo smart to do a lot of walking before the trip! I know people say they typically walk about 10 miles a day. I'd love to actually measure it this time.
I have a bunch of different workouts I do, but all are Jillian Michaels videos. I like them because they're only 20-30 minutes long. Lately I've been doing Ripped in 30 and her kickboxing one (the actual name escapes me right now).

Once the men of the household entered our humble home we had a family meeting to go over the plans.
We all really want Be Our Guest dinner, the only way I see being able to get it- is if I try for later in the trip.

11/14 - HDDR
11/15 - Teppan Edo
11/16 - Crystal Palace
11/17 - Tusker House
11/18 - Garden Grill
11/19 - Be our Guest and Party
11/20 - Rose and Crown
11/21 - O'Hana breakfast
11/22 - 50's prime time.

Meghan is a little upset about not eating at any princess location. Yet we all promised next time we will do whatever she chooses!

OH OH OH! and i can choose my itinerary on the MDE!!! well up to November 20th! HOW FUN!!!
Been playing about with it for a while now.

images

Ugh I'm really hoping we can get BOG too. I have been to WDW twice since it opened, but have booked those trips pretty close to the time we traveled, so I haven't been able to get in! We will be in MK on 11/15 and 11/20, so I think it's looking better for 11/20. (although I'd rather go 11/15 but will take what I can get!)

You have some really great picks for ADRs there I think! Are any of them new restaurants for you?

I have to play around with the itinerary stuff on MDE. So darn exciting! :earsgirl:

And I love this picture. LOVE. That is all!
:tink:

Just stopping by to say HI!!!! 20 more days! :woohoo:

Super-duper excited to squish you!!!!!

D~

Hope you and the family are well. I'm slowly trying to catch up.

Hey there!!! So glad your back I have missed you TONS!!!
Good to know about Teppan Edo.. we are ALL excited to go! Now your saying it's even better?!? CANNOT WAIT! WOOP!!! SO MUCH FUN!!!

This would be so awesome if it works! It must be a well kept secret because I can't find anything about it on any web site. Plus the WDW site lists the call center as closing at 11 pm EST.

I know.. I am going to try... regardless if it works or now i will report it to you all!!!

5 days?!?!? WHERE IS THE TIME GOING?!?!?! Have you found a suitcase big enough to squeeze me into yet??

Glad to hear you are feeling better and that you had a great Mother's Day!!

Of COURSE there's always room for one more!
The time is flying.. i really have a lot to get done in the short time i have!
THANK YOU!!! hope you had a great one too! and your fur baby was good to his Mamma!

Midnight is a new one on me. :confused3 Mine didn't open up until RIGHT AT 6AM EST on my 180. FPs are at midnight (or later, depending on what time MK closes), but I've not been able to get ADRs to work at midnight. That would be pretty cool if you did though. ::yes::

you and me both.. but heck i will try anything once! regardless i will be late for work on Monday. as I start at 6 Central time.. Instead i will be at my computer at 5am see what i can get off the computer then call at 6am if i wasn't able to get everything i needed. or fix whatever i messed up.. that happens too... LOL

Anyway, wanted to let you know I'm still around (and behind :scared1:). You look like you had a great Mother's Day! I didn't get any physical gifts, but my DS9 made me a card at church and brought home a flower for me. DH took me out to brunch and got me a Disney giftcard (that I emailed over to my TA to apply to my trip :lmao:).

Glad your back! How are you feeling? It was a great Mother's day! I hope yours was great too? all home made gifts are WAY better then store bought.Tell the kids all the time that i love home made cards MUCH more then anything store bought. All three happily oblige!!! Glad you have some more paid off!!! YAHOO!

Can't wait to hear what you score on ADR day! :woohoo:

you and me both.. I really need a pixi dust tornado here...

Oh, Mo--now I'm worried I've gotten your hopes up for nothing. Maybe it was our FP that I did that way. Still, if it says you can do ADRs at 6am, I would still try to get on at 5.

Doesn't matter. What's it going to hurt if i try?!? I'm not the kind of person to BLAST you if it doesn't work..
Yep fp opens up midnight. If the midnight (11 my time) doesn't happen well then i try again at 5am no one gets hurt in the process... <-- maybe... LOL

I've booked after our 180 days for last September and this September! I always read WDW Prepschool's site and she just posted a "How & When to make every reservation at Disney" and her site said for dining reservations "Online (beginning at 6 a.m. eastern time 180 days beforehand) or by calling 407-WDW-DINE (beginning at 7 a.m. eastern time)" But I just read people have had luck with midnight, so that would be awesome!

Ya got me.. But like i said i am going to try the midnight thing. If it work great! If not no big deal i will hop on right at 5am. then call at 6am

I'm so excited for your ADR day and your Mother's Day gifts!!!! You will have the cutest Mickey bathroom!! I'll have to upload what Sophie the poodle got me- it was of course Disney related too!

Thank you!!! So am i - i can't wait to get this part OVER.. i always stress WAY too much over this.. just silly!
OHH It's adorable up! I have to take pictures! Totally doesn't match anything as i have a grey and white bathroom! LOL. but it's mine damn it and i love my mickey!!

YES i want to see what you have!!!

She won't need the call center to be open since ADRs can all be made online.

I call too.. to straighten out everything i just booked.

Happy belated Mother's Day! :)

Thank you!! and to you as well!!!

The original poster she was referring too stated she called at midnight and did her ADRs then so that's why I referenced the call center times. As far as I know, ADRs online cannot be made till 6 am.

Yep.. I swear everyone here just wants to make me crazy. HA HA.. I feel like a Noob.

Just found your planning report and skimmed it so far - we are going almost the same dates - Nov 15-21. I'll have fun reading through all your plans while making mine! We are DVC members as well (BLT) but this time we are venturing away from "home" and staying at GFV. Happy planning!

HELLO!!! :welcome: Big Oh welcome to you!!! thanks for coming aboard!!!
I hope your having as much planning? this is stressing me out BIG TIME! BLT.. i LOVE the BLT views!!! I hope you Love your stay at GF!

Happy Mother's Day a few days late :) I love the cute gifts your kids gave you! My son is five (almost 6) and this is the first year Daddy finally took the kid out to pick something for me. I got an I Love Mom mug...I don't drink coffee but I am officially in love with a cup! :)

Happy Mother's day to you! HOW sweet! Don't you LOVE when they pick out their own gifts? just makes them that much more special!

I think you're right... it goes faster when you're not so much watching the countdown, but just checking in on it now and then. :dogdance:

It does go faster!!! once the ADR's are out of the way i can stop looking at the countdown again. I will then ONLY check it every 10 days or so? LOL..

Absolutely, please do! I've been using this site for my Disney history facts:

I am ON IT! thank you so much!!!

Yep we need our pre-Disney walks to keep up with everything we PLAN on doing! LOL.. Thanks for the video tips.. I will start some this weekend! i have too. can't just eat without the exercise!!! i need this WEIGHT OFF NOW!!!

Ugh I'm really hoping we can get BOG too. I have been to WDW twice since it opened, but have booked those trips pretty close to the time we traveled, so I haven't been able to get in! We will be in MK on 11/15 and 11/20, so I think it's looking better for 11/20. (although I'd rather go 11/15 but will take what I can get!)

same here i would LOVE to have it on the 16th. and will try. but it's looking like the 19th which won't be easy either since it's a party night. driving me batty!!!

You have some really great picks for ADRs there I think! Are any of them new restaurants for you?

Thank you!!! YES several new ones this time:
50's
Teppan Edo
Garden Grill
Crystal palace
Rose and Crown
are all new to us!!

I have to play around with the itinerary stuff on MDE. So darn exciting! :earsgirl:

I LOVE this!!! just adore it! about time i can play and screw up everything to make it work! LOL

And I love this picture. LOVE. That is all!

THANKS! LOL

Just stopping by to say HI!!!! 20 more days! :woohoo:

Super-duper excited to squish you!!!!!

D~

Howdy!
I can't believe how fast the trip is coming up.. I cannot wait to get the band back together! YAY!

i NEED TO START WORKING ON SOME STUFF FOR THIS!!!

BH PHOTOGRAPHY:

Ben, You deserve your own post as this will get lengthy!

First i would like to say thank you for posting. Thankfully i was able to get your name from the photo to give you credit for said picture... I always try to give credit to where it is due. Would you like me to remove your picture? Along with your site for people to check out? Let me know how you want to proceed with it i will be more then happy to oblige!
If your interested my website is: http://mofoto.zenfolio.com/ this way you can see my style of shooting. I am more of landscapes. i do not to portraits. People talk to damn much.

I have SEVERAL questions in regards to firework photography.
your work is BEAUTIFUL i did go back and looked through your photos they are stunning and i will have several questions for you i will post at the bottom of this reply!!
I have never heard of Pixsy and i am going to check into that as well!

Your kidding.. this isn't layered! Of course you used a tri pod.
The reason this whole post started I was chatting with another shooter and asked a thousand questions which of course ended up he used about 3-4 programs for one picture. the picture he was using was layers. IT WAS STUNNING.

In My OWN OPINION if you need to use 3-4 programs to enhance one photo the photo wasn't the best to begin with. again my own opinion!
I read how the shot was taken.. f11 iso at 100 28mm lens. also a remote?
One question HOW did you remove all the smoke?

Here is ONE from 2011

I am not happy with either one of these as i was new to photography here using a canon 30D.. i shouldn't even post them. but i will go further and show you what a BAD tri pod will do.

I have several tripods. I grabbed the WRONG one for the dessert party 2014 this one had the monopod with a ball base.. It sucked. Next visit i won't even bring it.
I shoot with a Canon 7d

I'll try to remember to check back in occasionally to see if I can help with any more questions you have! Happy shooting!

How did you NOT blow out the finale? using the above settings?
same with Illuminations? where were you positioned?
along with this:
https://www.flickr.com/photos/zetableh/10093199903/in/photostream/
where where you? the Poly?

this year i have a TON of re-do's for the trip...

Thanks again for posting here!

Chicago Mo:

The trick for eliminating the smoke, and being able to go so long in the finale is known as an ND, or neutral density, filter. They are, essentially, filters that block some amount of light from entering the camera. This allows you to keep the shutter open longer, in the case of our fireworks examples. They are also sometimes used to shoot with wide (open) apertures in bright light that would normally blow out your picture. I could try to explain it, but Tom has done a fantastic job of it already: http://www.disneytouristblog.com/neutral-density-filter-photographing-fireworks/

I used a variable ND filter for the Wishes shot from inside the Magic Kingdom; basically an ND you can spin to get different darknesses. That way I let more light in during the beginning of the show, when it's needed, but can go darker for the finale without switching filters, which may botch my focus. About focus: you want to manually focus (using autofocus to get Cinderella Castle focused and then switching to manual so it doesn't change is a valid strategy), and you want to do that before the show starts. If you have a variable ND filter, set your focus and on the lightest setting. If you're using non-variable, then make sure to focus before the filter is on, then CAREFULLY add the filter.

A remote, or remote shutter, is a corded or wireless device that allows you to control the shutter on your camera. I like a wired one, personally. It lets me not touch the camera, and therefore not introduce any undue vibration into the picture. I also shoot in "bulb mode" which is camera speak for "keep the shutter open as long as I press down the shutter button." Because different fireworks scenes are different lengths and brightnesses, they all have different exposure times. For example, I want manual control during Maleficent's scene in Wishes because there are some insanely bright green elements that will ruin my shot. But the green and purple bits before that photograph nicely! With a shutter release and bulb mode, I can close the shutter before the bright parts come.

For that last shot, yes, I was at Poly Beach. Likely a shot we'll never be able to get again. Bummer!

you and me both.. but heck i will try anything once! regardless i will be late for work on Monday. as I start at 6 Central time.. Instead i will be at my computer at 5am see what i can get off the computer then call at 6am if i wasn't able to get everything i needed. or fix whatever i messed up.. that happens too... LOL

I have the same mentality! ::yes:: What do you lose by trying... some sleep? :confused3 Big whoop. That's what naps are for. :thumbsup2 My fingers are crossed you get everything done perfectly in one swoop!

YAHOO!

I'm doing okay. I'm doing OT twice a week to help heal my arm. Between OT and baby's appointments, plus things here and there for the other kids... Ugh. I'm wore out. But it's life. ::yes::

My Mother's Day was great! I really prefer the homemade gifts over something store-bought (but I am totally not against Disney money! :lmao:). DS9 always makes me a card and it's always perfect. :cloud9:

you and me both.. I really need a pixi dust tornado here...

I have some tornado makers..... One girl and two boys. I'll be happy to let you borrow them. We can sprinkle them in pixie dust and let them loose. :rotfl2:

First, Happy belated Mother's Day. Your kiddos did great on the gifts!

I'm sorry for all the medical issues you've been having. :( That stinks. Glad you seem to be on the mend, but still. I would have to be knocked out to get a cyst removed from my head. You're truly amazing for being able to stand that!

So glad to hear the kids are improving so much in school. That's huge!

Your plans are looking awesome. I'll send good vibes on Monday that you get everything you want for Plan A!
Is BOG not princessey enough for Meg?

So glad you got a few days off! That can be so rejuvinating.(sp?)

Loving the Mother's Day updates! Your kids know you well! Glad Atkins is working out for you. I am afraid to try it, but I might jump on the bandwagon. Gotta loose some weight before Disney! Sorry dinner at Cracker Barrell sucked. Was it the diet or the restaurant or both?

Happy Belated Mother's Day!

Not much advice on when you can get into the ADR system. We live in Miami so we logged on at 5:45 am on our day and it wasn't until 6 am on the nose that we were able to get into the reservation system. We wanted a BOG on our arrival day but that didn't happen for us; we got one on our last MK day and not at the time we wanted. C'est la vie! We got the dinner which was the point.

Monday is almost here!!! For us after we had those dining reservations set up the trip felt so real, and so close too!! :yay:

Poor princess Meg, it must be awful not being able to share a meal with your fellow royal members (heehee).:cutie: She's such a cutie. Maybe you guys can grab an AandE M&G FP+ (that enough acronyms for ya?!).

Sending you pixie dustpixiedust: for your early Monday morning; I hope you get all your ADRs exactly when you want them!!:thumbsup2:goodvibes

you can just call me Mo.

AH! a filter! I currently don't have a filter for my 28mm.. you can bet your.. Well.. you know...
I will be ordering one TODAY.
going to read this! thanks for the share!!!

THIS! This is fantastic information!!! thank you TONS i would have NEVER thought to take it off of the auto focus yet it makes total sense!!! Oh boy you want me to touch the lens AFTER i take off the auto focus?? oh this might get interesting..

A remote, or remote shutter, is a corded or wireless device that allows you to control the shutter on your camera. I like a wired one, personally.

i have one. I was thinking of going wireless.. why do you prefer the wire? I can't hold a camera straight to save my life the remote was something i bought the SAME day as my fist DSLR.. Kinda like Gene Wilder in Blazing saddles, and his shooting hand.

It lets me not touch the camera, and therefore not introduce any undue vibration into the picture. I also shoot in "bulb mode" which is camera speak for "keep the shutter open as long as I press down the shutter button." YOU. My new friend are a wealth of information!!! I have been pouring over the internet looking for the best ways of shooting fireworks! I really appreciate everything!!! Yep i have used bulb-- Thankfully 4th of July is coming quickly i have something to go practice with!
I shot this in bulb

For that last shot, yes, I was at Poly Beach. Likely a shot we'll never be able to get again. Bummer!

it's a beautiful shot.. yes the bungalows are a nuisance. Especially when i cannot afford to stay there.. YET i did hear the point is still open!

I figured it out and sent you an e-mail that answers this question!

YEP.. need more information!!!

I have the same mentality! ::yes:: What do you lose by trying... some sleep? :confused3 Big whoop. That's what naps are for. :thumbsup2 My fingers are crossed you get everything done perfectly in one swoop!

exactly. Not like i get sleep on any other day what's so special about a Sunday night??? LOL

I'm doing okay. I'm doing OT twice a week to help heal my arm. Between OT and baby's appointments, plus things here and there for the other kids... Ugh. I'm wore out. But it's life. ::yes::

you totally can fit more into that schedule! LOL.. that's what makes us stronger.. Ok Joke aside I do hope you feel better and things slow down for you!

My Mother's Day was great! I really prefer the homemade gifts over something store-bought (but I am totally not against Disney money! :lmao:). DS9 always makes me a card and it's always perfect. :cloud9:

anything Disney is the exception to the rule of home made!!! HA HA HA!

I have some tornado makers..... One girl and two boys. I'll be happy to let you borrow them. We can sprinkle them in pixie dust and let them loose. :rotfl2:

lets do that.. i am sure it will be entertaining!!! LOL

Sure! It's the same link as before, it just needs to be refreshed to display any changes that were made on 5/11.

https://media.disneywebcontent.com/StaticFiles/ParkHours/WDWTravelAgent_November.pdf

Mickey Waffles should be one of your five food groups. Just saying.

Your ADRs looks great! And delicious! I'm ready to eat now! (Surprised?)

I miss the Tangled Tinkle Spot, too!!!

YOUR THE BEST THANK YOU!
I didn't think it was needed to be said?? :confused3 Should be a given!!! LOL

I cannot wait to get there.. I just hope by the time November rolls around i CAN eat the food there without getting sick?!!?

We spend a lot of time there.. it's a great spot! with the exception of the biting ants!

First, Happy belated Mother's Day. Your kiddos did great on the gifts!

Thanks! how was yours?

I'm sorry for all the medical issues you've been having. :( That stinks. Glad you seem to be on the mend, but still. I would have to be knocked out to get a cyst removed from my head. You're truly amazing for being able to stand that!

it's nasty! yep i am feeling really GREAT now that i have the right meds!

So glad to hear the kids are improving so much in school. That's huge!

It is huge.. But i still DESPISE Common Core math.. it's so STUPID.

Your plans are looking awesome. I'll send good vibes on Monday that you get everything you want for Plan A!
Is BOG not princessey enough for Meg?

THANK YOU i need all the pixi dust i can get!!! No BOG isn't a princess character meal.. She wanted a character meal.. well she can have it next time! LOL. It was high time the boys get their pick.

So glad you got a few days off! That can be so rejuvinating.(sp?)

It was WONDERFUL and i would kill to do it again!

Loving the Mother's Day updates!
Your kids know you well!

Thanks! Yes they do! my little minions!

Glad Atkins is working out for you. I am afraid to try it, but I might jump on the bandwagon. Gotta loose some weight before Disney! Sorry dinner at Cracker Barrell sucked. Was it the diet or the restaurant or both?

I will weight myself again this weekend! i will let you know how it goes. Tom did say he is seeing a difference. but i am sure it's all the water weight i had gained from the my thyroid acting stupid
all about a Disney diet isn't it?! Don't be afraid it's strangely easy. I was afraid too.. Since your not counting calories-and everything else. then have to figure it all out for you points of the day. this? Just check the carbs and don't exceed what they put you on? it's that easy. BACON! BUT i will advise to have LOTS of water on hand. you might be down on the carbs but everything you can eat has tons or sodium my mouth feels like a salt lick. i am constantly drinking water! listen to your body and what it needs. you can do it!

Happy Belated Mother's Day!

Thank you and same to you!

Not much advice on when you can get into the ADR system. We live in Miami so we logged on at 5:45 am on our day and it wasn't until 6 am on the nose that we were able to get into the reservation system. just GLAD you got BOG!!! we shall see what we can get. if we don't get it it's not going to ruin the trip.. ya know?? but darn it i will stress over it for the next couple of days! :rotfl:

Monday is almost here!!! For us after we had those dining reservations set up the trip felt so real, and so close too!! :yay:

Who would think I would ever be excited for a monday??

Poor princess Meg, it must be awful not being able to share a meal with your fellow royal members (heehee).:cutie: She's such a cutie. Maybe you guys can grab an AandE M&G FP+ (that enough acronyms for ya?!).

Believe it or not she really isn't all that into the whole frozen fiasco! i mean she likes the movie all well and fine, just not head over heels over it! her favorite it still and will always be Ariel. :thumbsup2 I wanted to do 1900 PF again!
Sending you pixie dustpixiedust: for your early Monday morning; I hope you get all your ADRs exactly when you want them!!:thumbsup2:goodvibes

Catching up! Glad the kids' teacher was able to work with you. I hope that her attitude to help continues.
