There's already talk of an active hurricane season this year

I was worried about this after all of the weird weather across the country this past Winter. Obviously there's no way to know for sure - especially this far out, and no cause for panic (it's just like trying to predict earthquakes out here in CA), but it's still something to be aware of & prepare for. Let's just hope that for the sake of everyone, especially those still trying to pick up the pieces from the aftermath of previous storms, that the forecasters are wrong and/or they dissipate into the ocean.

I apologize in advance for being cynical....but we Floridians hear this every year....usually in hushed dramatic voices and preceded by crisis music

It's funny you say that because I felt that same exact way when you were having the discussion about earthquakes on this weeks show. The local news stations keep advertising special segments saying how (in their most dramatic announcer voice) CA is "OVERDUE FOR A BIG ONE" then cue the crisis music. Who is to say that we're "overdue"?? They happen when they happen.

I guess if you don't actually live it, your perception is distorted by the media's need for ratings.

These people can't tell me if it is going to rain in ten minutes, I don't have a lot of faith in their ability to predict the unpredictable 4 months out.

Of course it will be... cause I'm thinking of taking the Transatlantic later in Sept. Am I nuts??? Sure... :woohoo:

Sure, its like when they say we're going to have a lot of snow every year in NJ, "this one's going to be a bad one"........oh wait, this year we did, nevermind.

I read in the media a story about the Haiti quake and it said that after taking everything into account (magnitude, depth, coordinates etc) it actually knocked the globes turning speed, and the world now turns quicker by a milli second or something!

Perhaps they will blame that on the wind! :rotfl2:
