There isn't actually much at DCA

Your claim here got me thinking. Of all the parks at WDW DHS is the one that feels closest to DCA IMO. So it is fair to compare them.

Personally I like DHS better than DCA. I like the energy there.

Does DCA offer more? Hmmm. Both have ToT and TSMM, although ToT is better at DHS. DHS as RnR and DCA has CA Screamin. Personally I prefer RnR as it has a much better story and theming.

What are the top attractions after that?

DCA

Soarin over CA (which is so awesome that may confirm your claim)
GRR
Aladdin show - soon to be gone but better than any show in all of WDW
Animation Studios including Turtle Talk w Crush
Monsters Inc
ITTBAB
World of Color (soon)
and then a host of second rate rides

DHS

Fantasmic
LMA - really good
Star Tours
Indy Stunt show
Great Movie Ride
VLM
Mulch, Sweat and Shears (a family favorite)

It is not clear to me that DCA does offer more. Maybe a little if you count all the little rides. Soarin kind of tip the scales towards DCA for me. But I still like DHS better. :)

I agree DHS is better themed, but DCA also has Bugs land, the kiddie area near paradise pier with jumping jellyfish, zephyr, and stinger (soon to be SSS). I guess as a father I tend to look at the parks from a kids view to see what it offers them. There is not much at DHS for kids other than a couple shows.

Hate to disagree with HG but I love DCA and when we go to WDW (see siggie for how many times) DHS is the park we spend the least time in. Sometimes less than 1/2 a day.

Yes, DHS themeing is cool, but maybe I'm biased towards CA. I love DCA and wish they weren't changing it. I am not looking forward to the increased crowds for WOC.

DCA ToT is better, for one, IMHO. :goodvibes And you can't beat Animation Academy. In less than 20 min. you learn to draw a Disney character and keep the drawing (unlike DQ at WDW).

We usually start our day at DLR and grab some FP and ride the more popular rides and then cross over. We'll spend most of our day at DCA and then, if we aren't too tired or cold, we go back to DL and use our FP.

I could say more, but I need to get ready to go to lunch. I'll try to get back to this thread later.

I know I am in the minority but DHS is my second favorite park at WDW. I like it there, and the street characters and shows are just great. I would take DHS ahead of Epcot and AK. DHS has personality while DCA is lacking in that department. Just my preferences...

I do believe your plan could be improved apon. There is no reason not to hop to DCA each day. I would start and end at DL, but certainly head over to DCA for a length of time in the middle. I think Soaring, screaming, ToT, TSMM, all deserve at least one ride each day! If you FP soaring and single rider screaming......it can be pretty quickly done.

Do you think our plan is a good idea?

Sun Evening - Fireworks or DTD [time depending]
Mon - Full Day at DL
Tues - MM at DL, then over to DCA for opening.

I think you'll probably have enough time to see most of what you'd like to see with this plan, if not all. Have a great time! :thumbsup2

Since you will be visiting during the summer, I would highly suggest while you are in DCA to ride Grizzly Rapids! This will cool you off a bit while you enjoy the other attractions, and all the other visitors!
