Are the Beach Club and Stormalong Bay really as wonderful as they look?

DH and I are currently planning 2 trips, one of them will be in april 2015 we like to call the "Resort hopper trip" because we'll stay in a different hotel almost every night.

And for the last few days I've been drooling all over Stormalong Bay.

I don't hate the Yacht Club, I'm just not really into their lobby (but I love the BC lobby). I like the YC and BC rooms equal...

But it is so expensive. Please, tell me that the $$$ spent is really worth it?

We are contemplating staying at either the Beach Club or the Boardwalk Inn late January/early February 2015. I know there are plans to renovate the beach club...has that started yet? Any idea when it will start if it hasn't? How are the rooms there? I don't want to stay there if they are run down. Any reason to stay at CB over BWI? I have a 6 year old and a 9 year old.

Thanks!

Nettie - I was thinking of you last night. Sounds like it all went magically!
You are scaring me about the split stay/magic bands!

Scott - congrats on the new kitty. I saw his picture on your PTR and he is adorable! Love the name!

Oh boy!! Have a change to make to my trip.. not YC cl part but at the CR cl part... I managed to save $750 this morning with the room only discount switching from CR cl to WL HONEYMOON suite:rotfl2::banana::banana::banana: Was a no brainer to make the switch!! The CM said ooooo the honeymoon suite is available at WL and it comes with cl as well AND it's half of what you paid so you owe us $13.61!!! The only question she asked was if we wanted to use the pool and since I know the pool is being refurbished I said I'm ok not having the pool... We will be there for 2 nights and then it's off to SAB!

Yay for discounts!!

That's fantastic! While we are definitely fans of the BC/YC, we really fell in love with WDW staying at the WL. I love it there, and the CL is so great. Can't wait to hear how great the honeymoon suite is.

:goodvibes

Also, shameless plug here, but a lot of you were so kind when we lost our pet back in December. I updated my lame excuse for a PTR (:rotfl:) with pics of our new kitty! Our Grace was exhibiting signs of loneliness, so on the vet's recommendation, we got her a companion we've named Sheldon, and he's the cutest thing!

Sheldon's face is adorable! How can Grace resist it.

YES!

Does anyone know if the 2015 dates have been released? I have a room only reservation and need to upgrade to the whole package. I was checking online just now and it finally lets me enter dates past December, but when I enter in my dates and resort, it says offer is not available???

They are supposed to be released July 30.

That's what I had heard somewhere too...funny how they will let you enter dates on the calendar past December, but then say "that special offer is not available" oh well, I can wait another week!

Congratulations on the new addition to your family Scott! I'll bet Sheldon is putting a wag in everyone's tail...

Hi Everyone,

I'm your french friend. I went to Yacht Club in august 2013. I fell in love :)

So my family and i are going to come back in july 2015. Could you add me at the be our guest list ?
We will come in july 9-20th.
I just can't wait. I'm so exciting.

Bonjour cher ami!! We remember you and we are happy to see that you are returning to the resort.

This resort is the perfect place for a more relaxed day to recharge your batteries from all the power touring that we tend to do while on a Disney vacation. I'd use this part of your stay to have a leisurely day at the resort and pool area. You can also hang out in a chair on the beach by the lake. You can follow all that up with a wonderful dinner in this area. There is much to see as you can cruise the Boardwalk area and even tour the Swan and Dolphin. Come to think of it, the Swan and Dolphin have some pretty great restaurants for you to try out since you're staying in this area. There is also the mini golf course and boat rentals available here. I would be remiss if I did not put in a plug for all of the great restaurants at this resort with the Captain's Grille being my personal favorite for breakfast lunch and Dinner!

The answer to your question lies in what you are looking to get out of spending some time in the area. Staying at the Beach/ Yacht Clubs enables you to take advantage of not only the parks, but also the fine dining and recreation offered in this area.

Good luck with your decision! :goodvibes

The renovations have not started yet but when they do they will be isolated from where guests are staying. Speculation is that the renovations will start sometime in the fall. See page one of this thread for the latest updates on what we know at any given point in time about those renovations.

Every Disney hotel can show wear and tear so you will have to try to determine what you feel is an acceptable level based upon the room you are assigned at check in. Remember that if at any time you find that a room on any Disney property is not meeting your expectations to can go back to the front desk of the hotel and tell the staff on site what your concerns are and ask that they give you a different room.

Do not call the front desk from the in room phone because that call is directed to an off site generic call center that doesn't have the ability to help you with this type of problem.

So to answer your question "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder" Most rooms are fine, some rooms will have issues and if you find that where you have been placed is not acceptable then let the staff know AT the FRONT DESK and they will help you to the best of their ability. I personally can vouch that the Staff at the Beach Club is truly interested in helping to make your stay the best that it can possibly be. I have stayed at this hotel for 2 previous stays and all of my concerns and requests were honored by the wonderful staff there.

I hope that helps with your decision. Good luck finding the resort that best meets your needs and we hope that it will be the Beach and Yacht Clubs! :thumbsup2

Our family fell in love with BC/YC! We love everything from the lobby, room, pool, restaurants, and walking distance to Epcot. When we are BC/YC, we make sure, we are spending time at the resort to enjoy Stormalong Bay and other great amenities. We also love that there are so many great restaurants, including Epcot ones and Swan and Dolphin to choose from. We are now spoiled and don't stay anywhere else.

Since I hope to get the other half of my stay at yc cl I was wondering about the renovations. Since i'll be there late April 2015, if the lounge is being worked on and they move it, is it good where they would move it to? Or is that off putting? Or is April too soon for it to be an issue at all cause maybe they'll be still working on BC?

We are checking in for a 7 night stay on 9/12/14.

Sorry, Yacht Club!

Gotcha garywitt. Have fun>

Hi! :)

Can you please change my resort to the yacht club on Nov 9 to 11th. I was able to save 280 bucks on our stay from the beach club for those same dates with the late fall offer room only discount they just released. The past 3 trips I wanted to stay at the beach club but it seems the discounted rates are always at the yacht club so that is were I have been winding up. thank you for changing it for me!

Had to downgrade huh. Slummin at the YC. I could handle it! Gotcha changed :cool1:

Add us to the list! We were able to get the RO discount for a GV room! So happy and excited for our first on-site stay! We're going to be there Dec 17-21!!

I wish harambe nights were extended through our stay in August. It looks like so much fun. AK is my mom's absolute favorite park.

So we are trying to figure out where to stay after our cruise. Can someone please weight in on if they think it is worth it.

Return from cruise on 11/30(I am guessing we will be at the hotel by 9 am) and do the MVMCP that night.
12/1 - HS
12/2 - heading home on a 2:30 flight

We would love to stay at the yacht club but we weren't sure it was worth the extra money.

We could stay at POR and it would be 342 for 2 nights or YC for 655. I really want to stay at the YC but the price difference is really throwing me.

Can someone convince me either way?

Thanks!!

I've not stayed at YC, since our first trip there will be in three weeks. But for two nights, I'd ask whether you plan to spend much time at the resort. I've been in Florida in December where it was warm and great weather for swimming. I've also been there when it was 60 degrees and no one wanted to swim. Do you think you'll spend much time on the balcony? If not, is there any benefit to having one?

If you don't plan to swim much or hang out at the resort, I'd consider POR for the savings. We had to add a day at the end of our trip and rather than stay the extra night at YC, we decided to add a day at POR. It looks like a lovely resort. We've taken the boat to DTD and it was so nice and relaxing.
