Hello, Y&BC lovers! I hope you are all having a great summer! My apologies if this question has been asked and answered many times - I did a search, but couldn't find this specific topic. We have decided to book either Yacht or Beach Club for our next trip, and the only category available is standard. I'd prefer to upgrade to garden, but no go. We love both resorts, prefer the room decor at BC but the overall feel of YC (love the dark woods in the lobby and the quieter ambiance). At which resort do we have a shot at getting a better view with standard? I know to expect roofs or parking lot, but I wondered if there were more...well, for lack of a better word, ugly! lol...views at one over the other? Does one resort's standard rooms have a plus the other does not? I'm having a hard time making a choice, I thought having this info might push one over the top.:teeth: TIA!:goodvibes
I've only been in a standard view room at the BC and we were right above the large, flat roof. It was a very quiet room since the parking lot is far away, behind the trees. As far as a view goes, it was fine. You may want to make your decision based on other factors. If you want a guaranteed full balcony, go with the YC. You only have a 50% chance of having one at the BC. The park buses pick up and drop off at the YC first, which may or may not be important. If you want to be close to Epcot and to the Marketplace for food, then pick the BC. We find the BC to be a little more convenient than the YC.

Is it too early to call to make reservations for December 2015 for room only? I like to start early so that I can make monthly payments.

We are already booked and ready for Nov 2014!!!!

Thank you so much for the reply! Which large, flat room do you mean? The Solarium?

We have stayed at both resorts a few times, and you make very good points. I've weighed all these factors and still am having a hard time choosing - so I thought this might be just enough to push one or the other over the edge.;)

We tend to prefer YC, but I find the room decor at BC so very pretty in person. I may just have to close my eyes and pull one out of a hat!;)

Thanks again, it was helpful.:flower3:

My family has threatened to leave me at Target or even on the side of a deserted road many many times, so I would fit right in with this bunch!

Depending on how financially lucrative it is I can either whip the children into a frenzy and drive their parents crazy or... IF the parents have more money than the kids (almost never the case!) I can then side with the parents and drive the children crazy until they promise to behave just so I will stop. A bidding war usually results when assorted family members vie for my services. Without exception the children always have more cash on hand than the parents, who sadly have spent all their disposable income on their ungrateful children.

Here is my favorite parenting tip!
Many parents have wised up to the punishment of taking the beloved phone away from the teenager as a behavioral corrective method. Did you know however that you can plus this punishment and make it 100 times more terrorizing if you require that the Teen send an email to all the kids in their class informing EVERYONE that their cell phone has been taken away because they are being punished? The punished offender also has to say that the only way to get in touch with them now that they are phone-less is to send an email to the mother which will be relayed in a timely manner to the misbehaving Teen.

The silence is deafening, both from the offending Teen and the friends as the friends would rather be caught dead than to be talking through the mother. When ever things start to get a little snippy at your house be sure to trot out this highly effective behavioral modification tool! :thumbsup2

Good Lord, that is brilliant. I am putting that in the 'to be used' file.

Another highly effective punishment (at least for my kids) is to break into spontaneous dance in public places. If we are at the mall, or a restaurant, and they are being, well, teenagers, I simply get up and start busting out some lovely 80's moves. The result is immediate and very effective. :>)

Who says you can't have fun with your kids these days???

And here is the Princess enjoying her day. A few more days and she will be in Nana's arms!

Two beauties!!! Lily is getting so big! Seems like just yesterday she was just a newborn princess!

So glad you 3 lovely ladies will be together soon! Can't wait to hear all about it!

That is AWESOME and I too shall file that away in the "You're gonna be so sorry" file.

Another thing I LOVE to do when transporting herds of teens in the Ninjamobile is to break out in RED LIGHT DANCE PARTIES!!

If I am driving that means I am in control of the radio so I get to pick the tunes. Usually it's some cheesy party anthem from the 80's playing.... When we come to a stop at a red light I roll the windows down, blast the music and start dancing in my seat like my butt is on fire. My kids are in on it so they start seat dancing as well, leaving the unsuspecting friends in a quandary. Do they join in the fun and start dancing or do they sit there with that stunned and embarrassed look on their faces as other drivers stare at us and our seizure like dance moves? As soon as the light turns green we stop dancing, turn the volume down and proceed to drive safely.

If the teen friend is a good sport and dances they get cheered on by us and they get dropped off right at their house. If they refuse to join in on the fun and sit there stone faced I drop them off a block or two from their house and yell out the window as I drive off that they had better come up with some dance moves otherwise they are going to be doing a lot of walking. Usually though everybody gets it and lets their inner Elaine Benes out during these red light dance parties.

Oops - that should be roof not room. It is the roof over the service areas of the BC. They would include the front desk, the restaurants and their kitchens, and the shops.

I love your red light dance parties. The best part is that your kids seat dance, too. It seems like there is never a dull moment at the NM house. :)

Gotta love the Elaine Benes dance!

Oh, thanks!! This makes sense, now I get it. I should have caught that, I'm usually much better at recognizing a simple typo but I'm out of my element. That's my excuse, anyway!;)

Secondary question - with this type of view, did you see anything at all other than the roof? In other words, is it flat roof if you look down but tree tops, etc. looking straight out? That wouldn't be so bad. We were in a CL room at YC last time that overlooked the front entrance. If you looked down it wasn't great, but simply sitting on the balcony you saw mostly trees and rooflines. I'd take it!:teeth:

I believe everyone is still waiting (im)patiently for the 2015 rates to come out! Any day now seems to be the consensus.:hourglass

And this is why I respect you so much!

Just called back today and was able to add free dining on to our arrival day at BC instead of sticking with the RO discount over at POR.

pixiedust:

So, now that I have another day to work with and figure out dining for, I have a question for you seasoned Yacht/Beach Clubbers who have also frequented Cape May Buffet.

Do any of you happen to know/remember the Tuesday rotation for the buffet?

As our reservations stand right now, we have Cape May tagged for our final night at the resort (Sunday), and we may keep it there. We still haven't decided.

Our flight is scheduled to arrive midday in Orlando, so I'm still on the fence about adding an additional day of park tickets yet. Last trip we had our feet to the pedal and were on the go constantly, and this trip, having a first timer along for the ride and our stay being about half the length, I want to take a more relaxed approach. I want my traveling companions to get maximum enjoyment out of the resort I fell in love with last year. :)

Anyway, we've only got 4 park days planned for our 6 night stay, without park hoppers (tell me I can do without them...this will be the first time without) and without the water parks, etc. We do want to catch MNSSHP one night, essentially giving us 4.5 park days, and it may very well be on our arrival night, but that's still up in the air.

So, should we decide to just decompress after our travel day by hanging out at the resort or visiting another resort/DTD, we will still need a place to eat, lol. Which leads me back to my original point, does anybody happen to know the Tuesday rotation for Cape May?

Sorry for the rambling post.

We are 55 days out!!! Time for more detailed planning. We are bringing our 2 year old and staying at the BC, water view room. I am trying to figure out where he will sleep. He is moving to a big kid/ toddler bed next week, so no crib for him in Disney. Do the king bed rooms have day beds? Anyone have a picture of a rollaway cot? Or maybe I should just ask for bed rails and get 2 queen beds - although I really wanted a king for us. Any input welcome- by the way, he is a tall two year old so he wouldn't fit in a pack and play or mini crib anyway. So excited!!!

We will be at BCV from the 17-27 of September. This is our first stay here. Can anyone tell me how the pool area works? Do you need to wear your MBs to the pool to get in? Our daughter will only be 1 but they are sending her a MB so I didn't know if she needs hers as well. Usually on pool days DH will wear his and we all leave ours but I know things are different for SAB.

Just a little over 2 months! I cannot wait. DH doesn't like the ocean (really just scared of sharks) so I am pretty sure I am not going to be able to get him out of SAB where he can lay in sand and water and NOT worry about getting bitten by a shark :rotfl:

Hello everyone! :wave2: My DH and I and our 8 year old DD will hopefully be staying at the BC or YC next May or June. Are the resorts connected? Is one better than the other? Also, would you go in late may or early June? Sorry for all the questions!

:wave2: k&a&c a BC/YC stay? :faint: :upsidedow while I like BC, it's more important to me to have a full balcony, so last year (after GF :goodvibes) we had a standard view at YC. First room was awful, so went down and asked if another room was available. We had a room facing the front of the resort over the Portico. It had a large balcony shared by 4 rooms. At first I didn't like that. But in August, I was the only one out there :rotfl: so it was all good. I think Dee may have pics of the room as I sent her some.

At BC we had a GV room.
Forgot to add, YC is first pick up and first to be dropped off. I don't know when your last stay was, but bus service has been sig improved. Now with the exception of DTD, BC/YC don't share with the other Epcot resorts. It was nice being first pick up. Hardly anyone at YC stop, then loads getting on at BC. I didn't find YC that huge of a dif getting to Epcot. And it's right in front of boat dock.
We liked the morning breakfast area just off YC lobby, and easy enough to get to BC mostly thru inside halls.

Everyone needs to wear bands. Prob not your 1 yr old.

Hey alicia. I added you to the BOG List on page one. Dee will do the when she returns from paradise. Welcome!

Hello everyone! :wave2: My DH and I and our 8 year old DD will hopefully be staying at the BC or YC next May or June. Are the resorts connected? Is one better than the other? Also, would you go in late may or early June? Sorry for all the questions!

They are connected through an outside walkway. If you look at a resort map it goes around SAB by Beaches and Cream. If I had a choice of when late May would win hands down. Crowds increase significantly as you go into June. The standard around here is if a full balcony i is important to you then YC would be preference. Both resorts are great.
And no need to apologize.....Questions are what we do.

The standard view over the flat roof at the BC was a view of the trees in the distance with the parking lot behind it. It was pretty much an open horizon without any buildings or other rooftops besides the flat roof that was below us. I didn't think it was a bad view at all. :)

Do any of you happen to know/remember the Tuesday rotation for the buffet? As our reservations stand right now, we have Cape May tagged for our final night at the resort (Sunday), and we may keep it there. We still haven't decided.

The only food item that I can remember is that fried shrimp is served on Wednesdays and Sundays.

We have always used park hoppers. We find ourselves going in and out of Epcot just about every day of our trips. We eat a lot of meals over there and it is a nice option for the evening, when we want to do something without having to use the buses. It is nice to walk around the World Showcase at night or to go to future world when the crowds are low.

There aren't very many king bed rooms that aren't handicapped accessible. Those rooms don't have a bathtub, which would be a big disadvantage with a 2 year old. You could get a regular room with two queens and then ask for bed rails. They provide cribs rather than pack and play beds. I don't know how big the cribs are. Here is a picture of the crib from the first page of this thread:

If you read the first pages of this thread, you will get a good idea of what the two resorts are like. If you would like a good analysis of the two, then read this post by pixarmom: http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=44610058&postcount=1739 The resorts are attached but not connected, which means you can get from one to another by walking on the outside covered porch. But you can't walk through from one to the other on the inside. There are restaurants and shops in between the two resorts.
