We have just returned from our 18 night stay at the Yacht Club and have to say we loved it and it's now our favourite resort ( previously stayed POR and the Poly). We booked a garden view room but were upgraded to water view, room 3007 at the far end of the resort. Unfortunately we had to move rooms half way through our stay due to a problem with the air conditioning unit. We were moved to 3017. The guy who dealt with us on the phone about the room move could not have been nicer or more accommodating. Both rooms were great, I will post room views after I sort out our photos. Disney transport was great, maximum time we waited on a bus over the whole trip was 15 minutes. Taxis were readily available. Buses to and from the dreaded DTD were ok although we did avoid late nights there and the fact there is only one stop there at the moment helps, the buses for DTD and the really early bus to MK made stops at the boardwalk and for DTD ( the swan and dolphin). It was fantastic being able to walk to and from Epcot and the studios. We also walked to Fantasia golf. In terms of food we had ddp so ate in a few local places. The flying fish was our favourite. Cape may dinner was great, our first time eating crabs legs, my 6 year old loved them... Cape may breakfast was also good as was the breakfast buffet at Captains Grill. We ate at the Yachtsman last year and were not wowed so we didn't bother this year. Quick service, Hurricane Hannah's was fine. Beach club marketplace flatbreads were good. We felt that Captain Cooks had better options last year but it was all still good, filling the mugs was a bit of a trek though. Boardwalk pizza was good, 2 quick service credits for a whole pizza, 2 desserts and 2 drinks and boardwalk bakery was great. The pool was great, ds loved the sand bottom bit, the little slide ( didn't do the big one) and the volleyball. We also had one night in the quiet pool where it was just us. We had no problems piggies claiming all the loungers! Overall a truly magical trip after a stressful year ( just finished a post graduate qualification to become a teacher). Totally spoiled now and not sure I would be keen to stay elsewhere, other than maybe the beach club or boardwalk. Think we will have a year off Disney and maybe return 2016 for 3 weeks! Thanks for all the help and advice on here if totally added to the magic!
Thx for the trip update! Sounds like a wonderful time! Two QS credits for Boardwalk Pizza sounds like a steal! We leave in 11 days for BC. We are so excited! First time there!

I am home!!

What a great weekend! I will try to get the pictures up on a site where you can view them. I only have an ipad at home so will need to upload and then post the link.

It was an amazing upgrade and everyone in CL was fantastic especially Kenneth.

One thing I will say, and don't think I am looking a gift horse in the mouth, because I don't want it to come off like that. Just my observations:

I will preface this by saying, I am in the construction industry so I look at things differently. I also know they are getting ready to do a remodel in the next few months, so some of this is probably just waiting for them to gut the suite.

The suite is located at the end of a T shaped hallway and has 2 doors. One says "Commodore Suite" and the other just has the standard room # (same room #) and then there is a door that leads to a hallway for Housekeeping and has extra sheets, etc. inside. I know this because the door was almost always open. Loud banging could be heard at all times from this area especially if you were in the Master Bathroom. All hours of the day and night. Sounded like housekeeping carts being pushed around and banging. Not terrible, but noticeable.

Nobody could make the TV/Surround Sound work in the living room. 2 people from Engineering came, one didn't know and the other got the TV to work, but not the music.

Lots of wear on furnishings, which, like I said is probably going to be a moot point after the renovations. Several light switches and lights did not work or were not plugged in. I had to actually pull out the couch and plug in the living room table lights. The doorbell was not operational and if someone came to the door and you were in the bedrooms, you would not know.

Master bed mattress was in need of replacement (i am sure it is on schedule) but what I was amazed by was that in this great sleigh bed with the beautiful comforter and shams had sheets that were scratchy and ill fitting. I have been at BWI and GF and they have the really nice, high thread count sheets..these were basically regular sheets..just was odd for such a pretty room and bed.

I say all this because, I have no idea what this room costs, but if I paid rack rate, i would be miffed that so many things were broken/missing.

The staff was AMAZING! Other than missing turndown on the first night, every service was over and above. I was even given a 2nd Welcome drink because my car died coming into the resort and they said after all the panic I had, I looked like I needed it.

Food was excellent and there were so many Cast Members, it reminded me of the Staff/Guest ratio at WL CL.

Again, like I said, I am in no way looking this amazing upgrade as anything BUT amazing..after literally hundreds of stays, this was the first time for a full on Pixie blowout, but I think I would be remiss if I didn't mention it to someone who might actually consider booking the room before the renovations.

Can't wait! We will be at BC from July 25-aug 2! Yay

Not sure Dee will be back in time to post on the 'official' page 1 BOG list but adding you to her backup. Have fun lilmomma!

I'm so excited to be staying at Yacht Club for the first August 4th thru the 8th! I had a fabulous stay at BC in Aug of 2012 and am looking forward to a similar experience.

12 more sleeps to WDW and 14 till Yacht Club!

Added to the BOG backup list. Enjoy NHKristy!

I had a similar problem at the BC in a GV room. There were terrible noises, all night long, occurring every few minutes, or so. I called to what I thought was the front desk (not realizing the calls are routed to off-site call center). They said they would send Security around to check it out. After peeking out in the hallway, I realized my room shared a common wall with the service elevator. Since I was checking out the next day, I did not change the room; it was the worst!

Your Commodore Vice Presidential Suite has a non-discounted rate of $1,621 per night, +12.5% tax; if you would like to stay there to celebrate the New Year holiday, add another $622.

Congrats on your extra-special pixie dust!

We are here. Lily is napping after a few hours in the pool. We got a ready room on the floor and in the building we requested. The view is the marina and monorail. Absolutely spotless. We were given club level access for some reason and are being treated like royalty. Jeanne said Lily asked her if they could live in the "white castle" forever. Dinner at Narcoosi's tonight.

Oohhhhh! Love that view from both Conch Key and Sago Cay! Narcoossee's is our absolute favorite restaurant in all of Disney! The soup is unbelieveable and I dream of the almond crusted cheesecake!

GF CL has wonderful breakfast selections and I love their "afternoon tea" treats.

Lily has good taste! Can't wait til we get there - hope we get as lucky as you with our room request! Please say hello to Nettie for me when you see her.

Yeah! Sounds like you are already off to a FABULOUS stay and I'm with Lily on living in the white castle forever :).

Can't wait for our first GRAND stay in just 3 weeks and we too have ressies at Narcoossee's the week we are there - LOVE their surf n' turf!

Is it a pretty safe bet to get a walkup for breakfast at captains grille or should I make an ADR? We will be there the 12th-19th of August and hoping to just make it over some morning without an ADR.

I usually go for a late breakfast after catching a quick hour or so at epcot or Hollywood studios at rope drop. And around 10:30 I have been one of only a couple tables in there. I can't speak to the early crowds though. It's my favorite breakfast on site!

I was told that Sundays and rainy days get busy. But other times a walk up is no problem. :)

I've actually had a lot of trouble getting a walk up there. One time it was majorly frustrating because there was clearly no one in there. Maybe they were expecting a large ADR crowd.
I always make a reservation.

Teena - sounds like this phase of your vacation is off to another great start.

Looking forward to hearing how your Narcoossee's meal went. That is our first night dinner, 27 days from now (not that I'm counting!)/

Dinner was fantastic. I had steak and lobster but Bob and Jeanne split the tail ... I'm not a fan of lobster. Jeanne and Bob had halibut. Lily had mickey pasta. Dessert was great too.

Thanks for telling us like it is. We appreciate your honesty and it will definitely help other people down the road when they need to come to a decision about where to stay and how much they want to pay for a room like that.

If Dee were not on vacation she would be around to encourage you to put it all down on any survey that you might get about your stay at the resort. I would go one step further and say that a letter to the General Manager of the hotel would be even more helpful. Keep on telling it like you experienced it because with this kind of feedback, the powers that be will have the knowledge they need to make the positive changes that need to occur.

Thank you very much for sharing this with us! :thumbsup2

Your query is at the heart of a conundrum. IF the restaurant does not get a lot of advanced reservations they will not call in the appropriate volume of staff to cover the tables. That is why a restaurant can be open and look empty and then the staff refuses some of the walk ups.

To be safe. make an ADR. If you think you are going to be late or you are not sure what time you will come then make the reservation for an hour after your intended arrival time and if your schedule is running on time then you can just try to come in early. If things get crazy and you run late well that hour later than you intended to arrive ADR is looking better and better.

That's how I would handle it! Good luck and Bon Appetit!

Hi everyone! We are just about 30 days away from our trip to Disney and our stay at BC!! I'm so excited about everything from the smell I'm hearing about, to the beautiful rooms, to the amazing pool, just everything!! All of the info here is very helpful and you guys are funny too!

We are staying from 8/25-8/30 and have a late flight out of MCO at 9:30pm. We will be using the ME to get to the airport and my packet says be prepared to get picked up approx. 3 hours before the flight but how do we get an official time? Will we get that at check out? We would possibly like to go to a park that day since we will have time but I'm just trying to plan how much time we will have. Thanks so much!! This is our first time staying on site so the bussing is brand new for us!!

You will get a letter on your door a day or 2 before your departure with exact pick up time, and a phone # to call to pay your luggage fees for your flights if applicable.
Be sure you get to airline desk at resort to check bags and get checked in for flights and boarding pass before 1:00. They close at 1:00.

Hello everyone! We just switched our reservation over to the Yacht Club. We have only visited the resort in the past for dinner. I have a few questions....are there any garden view rooms that are close to the lobby? Would this section also be close to Storm Along Bay? (I can't really tell by looking at the resort map). Are there many king size beds at this resort? Lastly, is the self parking far?

Thanks!
