Hello,

This is my first trip report so please bear with me. I will try not to rattle on too much. I wish I knew how to break this up into links to different days but being my first post I will just get on with it.
My husband, my daughter (29 yrs) and myself went to Universal Dec 6-9th. We stayed onsite at Loewes Royal Pacific Resort.
Day 1: We arrived at 11am and took a cab ($ 40 one way) to the resort from the airport. No hassles there. We were greeted by smiling faces right away. Everyone was so pleasant at this hotel and helpful. The hotel lobby was beautiful. It was decorated with a big christmas tree and gingerbread village with a train circling. We checked in and automatically went to the concierge and got our pictures taken for our express passes. This was really easy to do. Our room was in tower 3 and we were right by the pool and boat transportation. Our room was quiet and very clean. We would recommend the location. We decided to go to CityWalk for lunch. It was an easy walk from our room (about 5-6 minutes). We decided to eat at Bubba Gumps. We shared a fried shrimp plate and a hamburger. Both were very good. My husband got a large beer and it came with a glass which they gave you a voucher and you pick up in the gift shop after your meal. We then walked around the different shops and stands and picked up some souvenirs. The weather was sunny and about a high of 80 degrees so we went back to the hotel and enjoyed the pool. You do not need to bring towels you show your room key at the towel hut and they give you towels to use at the pool. We were greeted by a server who gave us each a little container of frozen grapes which was a very nice surprise. They had pool toys such as beach balls and noodles to play with in the pool. Since it was not very crowded there were even ducks swimming in the secluded corner area of the pool. Very cute. They announced games such as pool races and etc. The winners won ice cream to enjoy. There were lifeguards at the pool and the water was heated. Very nice. Next we took a nap before dinner. Had reservations at Jimmy Buffets Margaritaville for dinner.
We walked to Margaritaville because it was so close and the boat was not at the dock (they come about every 20 minutes). Plus the walk is through nice gardens etc. When you reach the entrance to Citywalk from the hotel there are guards there just to keep an eye on things. We would flash our hotel ID and walk right on by. Needless to say Margaritaville was very busy. It was Thursday night and there were teams from the Pop Warner event enjoying the evening. There was live music and people on stilts making balloon sculptures (quite elaborate ones at that). Of course they had the volcano erupt and everyone singing "when the volcano blow" song. It was a lot of fun. We enjoyed chicken sandwiches and chicken quesadillas. They were all very good. And of course magaritas! After dinner we walked around to the different stores and then to Hard Rock for souvenirs. We took the boat back to our hotel and enjoyed a drink at the beach bar. It was a beautiful night. Plus who can resist sitting by a Christmas tree by the pool and enjoying a beverage. What a way to end our first day at Universal. Please stay tuned for Day 2.

sounds like you had fun!

i always stay in T3 at rph.
love that place!

We had a lot of fun. And to be honest we were a little surprised at how friendly and helpful everyone was. They certainly impressed us. There is no "darkside" to Universal as far as we are concerned. :)

using the word darkside is not a negative thing.

darkside means the unknown
to some peeps and maybe newbies.

you never know what universal is really about until you go.[/I]
