Okay, I have searched for the last few days and still can't find this info! At one time, someone had combined a list (with item suggestions) for themed gift baskets. Does anyone know which thread/post that it was in or have the list saved?

I thought I had it, but our computer crashed a few months ago and little by little I'm seeing how much we lost. TIA!

I don't know if you plan on buying everything or asking folks to donate. Each teacher picks a theme for their classroom and families are asked to donate items to that theme. Or, you can donate money for PTO to buy items. Where Wii, iPod, Hamster, DSi and gift certificates are themes, the families are asked to send money only so that the game systems can be bought with necessary supplies - or random gift certificates. Some items really do come in baskets, but others are wrapped in a "container" from that theme. For example, items can be wrapped in a sled, in a dog bed, etc.

I often donate a family travel basket to silent auctions. It might be a tote bag rather than a basket, and I put in it travel games, water bottles, a travel journal and pen, snacks, etc.

I had to laugh at the hamster suggestion. My DDs' winter carnival raffle included a live hamster, cage (complete with a sign that said "Please don't put fingers in cage... I bite! ), bedding, food, etc. A few of us parents were joking that they should parents $20 to make sure our kids didn't win! They would have made a lot more money that way.

Last year, my DD's class put together an art supply basket that was a big hit. I bought a caddy in the scrapbooking section, and parents donated various supplies, paper, stickers, etc.

This year, I did a peace sign theme. I bought a bean bag chair and throw, Build-a-bear, Webkinz hamster, notebooks, pencils, and a couple other things that all had peace signs on them. Kids went crazy for that one!

We did one this spring at the kids' school and my kids were each given the theme, and then families contributed to it. My DS's class did a "When I Grow Up" basket with each child sending in something to do with their future careers - so they got a cake plate from a future baker, a book on meteorology from a future weatherman, a fingerprint kit from a future detective, etc. DD's class did a garden basket. I saw one of the other class's baskets and it was a zoo basket and had a family membership to the zoo, sun hats and water bottles, a pair of binoculars, etc.

handbag basket (this past year, we had a Coach basket - it was HUGELY popular) it had 2 coach bags, a wallet, umbrella, keychains, sunglasses and flip flops. The coach store gave us a % off coupon - but everything else was donated by our parents!!

We also go around to local businesses for donations for our raffle - we got a lot of things but the biggest was a four wheeler donated by one of our dads who owns a shop and we got a outdoor kitchen to be built on your property - I REALLY wanted to win that one!!! LOL

car wash basket - 5 gal bucket, tire cleaner, car wash soap, cleaning cloths, bug cleaner, short brush for tires, long, soft brush for car, wax, water hose, nozzle for hose, chamois, interior cleaner, glass cleaner, etc. the men loved this one

fishing basket - rod & reel, fishing line, minnow bucket, lures, tackle box, pliers for removal, net, weight scale, cane pole, bucket for keepers, etc. men loved this one, too. one grandpa bought one for his granddaughter so she could fish with him.

mr. fix it - tool box, basic tools, hammer, screwdrivers, wrenches, etc., nails, level, tape measure. this went over well. one was bought for newlyweds who had never lived on their own before.

We did all of these as well as golfers one. I think I saw mention of the cooler and mini weber grill - we've done this too - "summer grilling for dad" - it had all kinds of outdoor cooking/grilling things - everything you can think of!!!
