Theme view

My wife myself and 7 year old daughter will be going to DL (our first time) and staying at the Grand Californian. My question is if we should stay in a theme park view room? Would like to know if we can see the World of Color from the hotel room?

Most likely not. Most of the TP views will face Grizzy Peak. And even if you were to get a room in the newer wing that faces Paradise Pier view you may be able to see it but you wouldn't be able to see any of the projections...

Contact the hotel and request that view if you would like it. Will you be back at your room that early? We have recieved "Park View" rooms before and not been in the room for viewing the fireworks. Have not had a room with a view of the WOC. Might be worth the effort to secure one for that occasion. Many people find the WOC show breathtaking.
This is your first visit to the disney resort, please take the time to go through the postings on this forum. You might find a lot of the information useful. Such as the Grand has it's own entrance to california adventures. Many people do not know of this, as well as many other small items that make staying at a Disney Hotel worthwhile.
You did not give the date of your visit or how long your stay will last. Hope you will be visiting for at least four days or longer. Weekdays are great for new visitors as the crowds are minimal, this provides time to explore and truly enjoy the parks. There are many, many things to do besides ride a few rides. Character breakfasts, Toon Town Morning Madness, reading through the postings here can give you many ideas of things to do and see. Once you are at the parks, if you have a question about anything, ask a disney employee(refered to as CastMembers), they can be quite helpful. Relax and enjoy your stay..

That new wing is for DVC units. Most likely not is the best way to put it.

Besides it's much better to view from in DCA, inside Paradise Park than anywhere else.

Thank you for the responses. We will be there for 4 days in October. Excited to see the WOC in person but probably won't every night. We are willing to spend the extra cash for theme park view if we are able to see the fireworks and or WOC. If not what is the benefit for the extra money spent? We have been to WDW several times, and always wanted to see where it all started, so we are really looking forward to this!

Similarily, if you want to see the fireworks, see them inside DL. It's a much better view. The views from the GCH are not from theme park view rooms.

BTW in October the regular fireworks are usually on Saturday and Sunday only. The Halloween Screams, similiar to the WDW's MNSSHP fireworks show has been on mostly Tuesdays and Fridays.

If you want to get *a* view of World of Color from your room, you could get a theme park view room at Paradise Pier for I believe much cheaper than the Grand Californian. You should be able to get the music on your TV.

I agree it is not the best place to see World of Color, not at all, but you can see it. Frankly if you're at the Grand Californian it's so easy to get to Paradise Park, I'm not sure why you'd want/need to see it from your room anyway.

Actually not all of the new wing is DVC. X240-X260 (even numbers) are regular hotel rooms with Theme Park Views and they will be able to see World of Color allbeit from a pretty bad angle!

Still odds are you will "most likely not" be able to see WOC from a Theme Park View room and you will "definately" still want to see it from the regular viewing location in DCA.

As far as I know none of the non-villa rooms are able to see WOC very well.

However, since you're staying at the Grand be aware that there is a World of Color viewing balcony on the 6th floor of the villa wing for all GCH guests. On the occasions I haven't been able to see WOC from our balcony, its my next favorite spot since its neat to watch the fire and lasers from a top-down perspective and is usually not too crowded, especially compared to being down in the fray (which I have done a couple of times, enjoyed, and think I'm okay with skipping from now on). Have chatted with a few people in the hotel side of the villa wing and they said the view was better from the viewing balcony than their room.

My boyfriend and I have stayed several times at GC and always get a theme park view and it's awesome! At night we leave balcony door open a bit to hear music thats played in park at night and we lunch on balcony while people watching. It's magical every time. However we always try to get between rooms (floor #)348-355 to keep away from noisy monorail and entrance! I highly recommend it..!

I requested what i was told would be the best WOC views from DVC studio. From what i've read even those views, or the view from the viewing platform, don't do justice to the full scope of WOC.
