I'm a little confused. If you have a custom wedding, there are places in Epcot that you can get married and have your reception, according to Disney's website. However, I have read several places that wedding attire is not allowed in the theme parks. How does this work?

They don't let you walk through the park in your wedding attire, they take you in backstage, from what I understand. That's the reason it's required that you use one of their busses with the Epcot weddings. Plus, the weddings in the outdoor locations of World Showcase take place at 9 am, before that section of the park is open to the public. :)

You can wear wedding attire in a theme park only under these conditions:

1. During your actual Custom wedding or reception that is held in a theme park. Theme park weddings occur outside of normal operating hours.

2. During a private Illuminations Dessert party held in conjunction with your Intimate or Custom wedding (but if you're in wedding attire you have to be escorted through a back gate).

3. By purchasing a special photography package through Disney's Fairy Tale Weddings. With this package you are taken into a theme park before it opens to the public and a Disney photographer does a photo session with the bride and groom in wedding attire. This package is only available in conjunction with an Intimate or Custom wedding.

Basically Disney won't allow adults to wear any type of "costume" (including wedding attire) into the theme parks during regular park hours. The concern is that it might confuse other guests into thinking you're part of the entertainment!

The above poster is correct. We had our pre-reception at the Italy Isola (an Illuminations pre-reception), and I was able to wear my gown both to that and to our reception at the American Adventure Rotunda. We were required to use chartered busses for our guests and limo/towncar for ourselves. They drive you to a backstage entrance, then the host/hostess you pay for (1 for every 50 people at $90 each) escort you and your group to the location. Hope that helps! :)
