Theme Park Tickets Direct goes bust

Thats really horrible I hope that it gets sorted out for everyone.

We have looked at them before but just felt that as we were booking DIY we would be better booking direct with disney and we are really glad we did now.

 to those affected

Unfortunately, I am one of those affected. I've contacted my CC company, so fingers crossed. I've had to order my tickets from another company.

Its so annoying that these companies know that they are facing financial difficulties but still trade right up to the last minute taking peoples hard earned money.

I am actually surprised there is no legislation in place to protect the consumer (and staff, who no doubt knew as much as the general public did) from this kind of business conduct.

 Please let us know how you get on. Did the CC company sound hopeful? Fortunately for you, going through the CC company, this is public so it should be easier to prove your case with simple proof of purchase. When do you leave?

Hi 2tiggies,

Well, the CC company just said they will send me a form. I'll post an update when I've heard back. I leave in a few weeks, so I doubt I'll have heard by then.

Seems like it is affecting people already at WDW.

From another website:

My friends who are at the parks now have confirmed that the tickets they have that have been refused at the park gate were from Themeparkticketsdirect.

Just hope others are not affected.

Were they actual tickets or vouchers to exchange? How upsetting.

Fingers crossed for you guys. :goodvibes At the very least, it would be nice to have confirmation before you leave that you will be reimbursed in full. Have you found a reasonable price from another (reputable) ticket agent?

Only thing I can think of if they were actual tickets is if the company hadn't paid Disney for them and so Disney blocked those ticket serial numbers - but I don't know if that is even possible :confused3 It would also seem a bit unfair on Disney's part as it wouldn't be the customer's fault so think it's probably unlikely.

Hi,

I've ordered "replacements" from floridatix. I hope these guys are okay.

I don't know them, but I know of them. I am sure you will be okay. Did you order them to be delivered earlier than you need them?

I've just heard from DW. They've been delivered already. Wow. :cool1:

Oh thank goodness! Are they hard tickets or vouchers? I am so pleased for you. Now you just need the CC company to pull out the stops and get moving with your claim.

Thank you for your good wishes. They are actual tickets. Only ordered them Wednesday evening, and they were delivered yesterday special delivery (included in the normal price.) I'll post again once I've heard from my CC company. :)

Great news! I think the service speaks for itself. Certainly not the efficiency you would be getting from a struggling company, along with having the actual ticket which is a good thing. I would go so far as to say you can breathe easy about your tickets now and look forward to your trip, like you should have been able to do. :)

I must confess when I have bought tickets for parks I often buy direct from the park site like I did with busch gardens. I found this was the cheapest option and I was able to print our tickets at home so I had something to take with me. It is a crying shame when this happens but with so much uncertainty in the tourism industry sometimes paying an extra bit of money for the security is worth it.

Best of luck to those affected and I hope you can sort things out quickly.

Well, good news: I got a full refund from my CC company. The letter arrived the day we left for the airport, so that was a good start. Here now at VWL for a few nights before moving over to BWV.
