Theme Park Tickets Direct goes bust

Wow, that is awful! I hope nobody here is affected either but this is the middle of the school summer holidays. There is going to be a lot of angry customers!

Wow! We've always bought our tickets through them. Hope this doesn't affect anyone here.

We had loads of trouble getting our tickets from this company this time last year, we finally got them after countless emails and phonecalls 2 days before departure. From what I understand from reading other forums, other people were still being treated as shabbily as I was up to last week and many had asked for refunds.

It's so sad that hundreds of people have saved and saved for their Disney and Universal tickets and instead of looking forward to their holiday, they now have another worry as to whether they will get any money back.

:sad1:

We used them a couple of times but not since 2008 as we've stayed onsite since then. I hope nobody on here ends up losing any money.

That is bad news :sad2:

I took this company off the thread that I do every month or so as there was a lot of internet chatter about how unreliable they were becoming.

Hopefully others had seen the same concerns and spent their hard earned money elsewhere

We had a lot of problems last year too,

Were they taken over by in the last few year?

I remember someone on here was having major stress a few weeks ago about getting their tickets.

Never used them myself, but sorry to hear this as many people will be at WDW attempting to use tickets that may not be valid.

Oh no, don't say that  I think (hope) once you have your tickets/vouchers they are valid as paid for. It's those whose tickets have not been dispatched who are going to have their work cut out for them. And let's face it, Disney tickets are not cheap. Take a family of 4 with ultimate tickets. That's already pushing £1,000!!!! The trouble is, for those flying out in a few weeks, they won't have time to go through the process of claiming their money before they depart. :sad2:

No sorry was think of people who ahve flown out maybe in the last couple of days and even today and then go to disney and they say ticket invalid. It happened to us 2 years ago when we went to use our tickets and the lady said they were invalid, explained that we are just over and first day of using, she looked at tickets and told us to go back to our resort BWV at the time and explain to reservations/ticket desk. They eventually put all tickets onto our room key. Total relief and what an arguement it cause over the coming days between myself and DW. We laugh about it now when we are going to the parks.

Seems like it is affecting people already at WDW.

From another website:

My friends who are at the parks now have confirmed that the tickets they have that have been refused at the park gate were from Themeparkticketsdirect.

Just hope others are not affected.

I would have thought that if you have the tickets in your hand it's because they have been bought from Disney, and paid for, then passed onto you.
I can see problems happening when vouchers are sent that you are then expected to exchange at a ticket booth, but don't know what method this comapny used.

:scared1: Imagine arriving there and not knowing about all this! I'm not happy now. One of our UK DISer's tix just arrived from there a week or so back and I think they just left for WDW. I hope they got their tickets sorted before this whole fiasco.

I thought they did send out paper tickets. It looks like I was mistaken.

Unfortunately seen this coming for a few months, asked Kenny to consider removing them from his ticket threads which he did and I have been warning people whenever possible. They followed exactly the same pattern as other troubled ticket sellers in the past, delaying sending tickets as late as possible. Hope no-one on here is affected.

I'm so glad I didn't order mine through them now. Almost did :scared1:

Hope it's relatively easy for those affected to get things sorted.

Its so annoying that these companies know that they are facing financial difficulties but still trade right up to the last minute taking peoples hard earned money.

I ordered tickets from them a couple of years ago; everything went swimmingly and I didn't hear from them after that.

But in the last two months I've had about five e-mails from them advertising their ticket prices and various special offers and I did wonder why the sudden blitz? Obviously they knew they were in desperate straights and were trying to drum up enough business to keep them going.

Of course, as I haven't got a Florida trip planned right now, I wasn't about to buy anything from them anyway, so I was safe, but hopefully anyone who did have tickets with them will not have their holiday too badly affected, or at least be able to get their money back.
