I just got done talking to MS about ticket prices.

I was enquiring about annual passes (not premium)

As I was talking she just got the e-mail confirming the price increases.

New prices for the annual pass not including discount or tax is

new== $469 up from 448

renewal == $429 up from 408

As you know new discount is $100. renewal discount is $75.00

Tax is 6.5%

Those who can't renew now(renewals can only be done 30 days before or after the expiration date of present pass.) do the math, you may come out ahead buying new ones.

You CAN renew now. I've done it online and and have vouchers ready to renew both my and DH's annual passes for the next two years.

I guess that isn't actually "renewing" now but it is buying the vouchers now to use in the future. Same thing in my book.

Are talking about brand new purchases or renewal purchases?

Not on renewals according to MS, is this different online???

They maintain you can only renew 30 days before and after your expiration date. You can buy brand new anytime.

If what you say is true I saved only $7.00 instead of $21.00.

Read the highlighted portion below. I got a real laugh out of that.

Get ready to pay more cheese to see the mouse with price increase at Disney World

Scott Powers |Sentinel Staff Writer5:42 PM EDT, August 1, 2008 A basic theme-park ticket at Walt Disney World will cost an added $4 a person starting Sunday.

Disney announced increased ticket prices Friday afternoon that push the cost up 5.6 percent to $75 for the basic one-park, one-day ticket for adults and children age 10 or older. The old price, $71, is still in effect today. The price of a basic ticket for children ages 3-9 will rise Sunday to $63, up 5 percent from $60.

Disney also raised the price of its "Magic Your Way" multiday-ticket packages, by 3 percent to 8 percent. The top deal, a 10-day adult Magic Your Way ticket, now costs $237, or $23.70 a day, up 5.3 percent. The Park Hopper add-on, which allows ticket holders to move among any of Disney's parks, will cost $50 for up to 10 days, a $5 increase. The Water Park Fun & More add-on option remains $50.

Florida residents may buy advance tickets from participating agencies, by phone or over the Internet, starting at $67.50 for one day. That also reflects a 5.6 percent increase from the current base price.

The price increases were no surprise to Dennis Speigel, president of International Theme Park Services, who said Walt Disney Co. executives had indicated the parks were doing well despite the soft economy. The $75 mark is a bit of a consumer milestone, he noted. And it might be hard to leave it behind, he added.

"The difference between $74, $73, $75 -- there's not that much difference. Once you reach that level, you might as well go to $75," Speigel said. "But I think that puts their increases away at least for a couple of years."

Central Florida theme parks used to announce price increases near the end of the year or in early January. Disney and Universal Orlando switched to late-summer adjustments in 2006 to meet the publication deadlines for annual, independently produced guidebooks. SeaWorld Orlando and other Busch Entertainment Corp. parks joined the trend this summer, announcing price increases on June 30.

SeaWorld now charges $69.95 for a basic ticket.

Universal has not yet announced a price increase this year, though it and Disney have been in lockstep on ticket prices for several years. Universal's base ticket as of Friday still cost $71.

You can renew. My pass expired on March 8, 2008, I didn't go to Disney until July 6, 2008 and I renewed. It was not offered to me as an option I asked about it because my Aunt had renewed her in April 08 and it expired in Dec. 07. I was told no problem but it would still expire March of 09.
Which was fine with us because we are going in Nov. then not again until New Years 2009.

I can't believe how much prices are going up:mad: , it is getting so hard buying the annuals and when I have to buy 4 of them it doesn't help. I am going to have to start saving now to buy them for 2010.
If I didn't just buy 4 of them I would have thought about buying them now.

The DVC "renewal" discount costs more than getting them new, in my book. This year, we intended to buy 4 PAPs. First, I purchased four tickets from Undercover Tourist that had the greatest savings ($59 off gate price -- their site outlines the savings for each ticket). We used each ticket once and upgraded them at Guest Relations at DHS. With our DVC discount, we ended up paying $444 each...or buying four PAPs for the cost of three. :thumbsup2

Am I correct to assume I can purchase new AP's at the $348 plus tax price point until 11:59 PM on Saturday August 2nd?

Thanks,
Dennis-

Yes, I did just that today. total with tax was $370.62. Another site, (not sure I can mention it so I won't) is posting the increase will be $499. Either way, you save money and that's always a good thing. :cool1:

One caution, I ordered through MS and the cm I spoke with didn't know the correct discount for DVC. She had to keep going back to a supervisor before finally getting it right. :confused3

They will know tomorrow. I was on the phone with MS around 5:00 pm when she got the e-mail announcing the increase.

On renewals done online, as I said.
You renew at the Disney site for AP holders.
