I have this CD tower I bought about 10 years ago that started out brown...you know, just the plain old laminate. I painted it a light green a few years ago and painted little butterflies all over it. We moved into a new house a few months ago and I was going to throw it out. Today I decided to take it outside and sand it down and I would use it in my Disney room. While I am sanding, I keep thinking, 'why am I smelling the inside of Spaceship Earth?'

So I keep on sanding, even with a face mask on and every now and again, when I got down to the laminate part, I got that smell again.

So, sanding an old CD tower smells like Spaceship Earth. :teeth:

Is there anything around your home or work that smells like Disney?

PS - Everytime we go to Arby's for lunch in the summer, it smells like WDW Railroad in MK outside.

This is very funny. I offten have smell reminders. A certain makeup that I used years ago will bring back one memory, stuff like that, I wish something would smell like disney to me, then I could sit and sniff and pretend to be there at all times.

On thanksgiving My Mother in Law made apple pie. It reminded me of Philarmagic!! Can wait to go see that again in January!

I am totally a Disney smell freak! The Emporiam is one of my favorite smells. That and the candy store on Main Street.
Glad to know I'm not alone on the Disney smell thing! :goodvibes

Last March when we were at the Outerbanks, NC, we went to the Aquarium. While in the gift shop, I noticed a clearance section in one part of the shop. As soon as I stepped over there, it smelled like WDW. I'm not sure what part of WDW, but it was WDW!!! I called dd and SO over and had them stand there and breathe in and out really deep. When I asked them if it smelled like disney, their eyes just lit up. They could smell it too!

I got a new cell phone over the summer because mine had kicked the bucket. It came with this nice little leather case. Low and Behold when I sniffed (I like the smell of leather) the case :rotfl: it smelled just like the inside of POTC. I was so excited that I called my BF at work to tell him. He wasn't nearly as excited as I was go figure :rotfl2:

Would it be safe to assume that the odor you are refering to in SE is the smell at the "burning Rome" scene?
If so, our local Sonny's Bar-B-Q joint smells just like that scene when they get their wood fired stoves get going at lunch time.

That is greatness. Yeah, I can see how BF would not get excited...but you feel free to sniff that case all you want. ;)

No, it is just that that SE smell. You know when you get in the car and you first start to go into the dark, the ride just has a certain scent??? That is what it is. Sanding does not have a burning smell, it was just the wood and paint I guess...I don't know, but I could almost hear Jeremy Irons talking to me. :rotfl:

That's funny, I still hear Walter Cronkite. {wishfull thinking} :lmao:

How long ago was Cronkite? I don't think I knew about that. Must have been before my first trip.

One foggy, cool evening, we were outside of a strip a mall, that had a Cold Stone ice cream place. They were making waffle cones, and I swear for a minute I was on Mainstreet, early in the morning walking past the bakery. Even my dh admitted it did it to him, and at the time he was a reluctant Disney fan. I have since brought him around!

His voice was used before the big changes, when they re-did a bunch of things on the down side of the ride, and changed what the newsboy said, and stopped the Monks snoring.{on the up side} I guess you also would not remmember the song Tomorrows Child song {far superior to what they play now,INHO} that was played just after you started down backward. I think the changes were made around 1995-96, but I'm not totally sure.

I bought a Mistletoe candle today at Yankee Candle...not because of Christmas, but because it smelled like the pine scene in Soarin!

My Mother in Law's car smells EXACTLY like the monorail!

She drives a 2003 Oldsmobile sedan.

I always break into, "Welcome to Disney's highway in the sky!" as I buckle up.

We've asked her if she's putting any kind of air freshener in it or having it cleaned with something, but she can't imagine what it could be.

Does the car smell like the monorail in the mornings or at the end of the day (petting farm)? I have yet to ever board the monorail and find enjoyment out of it's smell.

On a side not, the best smelling ride ever IMO is E.T. at Universal.

I was doing some work at a retail store and a new back office smelled just like the dark rides in Fantasyland. I don't know how to describe it but something just brought back memories but they say the sense of smell has the greatest memory. If I closed my eyes I could imagine being on Peter Pan, Snow White, etc.

:lmao: That's what my husband says. I'd never smelled it stinky before, but Joe swears it always smells like pee.

On our most recent trip we figured it out -- if someone gets into the car with a baby/toddler with a dirty diaper, then  Fume City!

My MIL's car definitely smells like a nice, clean monorail in the morning.

I think I remember reading somewhere that the main street bakery smell was a little "enhanced" by WDW & vented out near the front door. :rotfl: Who cares though- still smells great!

I know that exact smell inside of SE that you are talking about! That is so weird, because I thought that I was the only one who noticed it! I can't describe the smell, but it is definetly there. Kinda weird smelling, but whatever! Its always nice to smell it :cool1: .
