Theme park Opening ceremony?

i know they do at magic kingdom, but do any of the other parks have an opening ceremony? if so what happens?

Not sure, MK is the only Disney park we go to for park opening, the rest are an evening stroll.
They don't at any Universal parks, although they used to play the US National Anthem at Sea World at 9am , doubt that counts as a ceremony though.

Animal Kingdom has a really neat opening ceremony, the characters are preparing to go on a safari and the open the park. It takes place in front of the tree of life and if you want to see it, you need to be very much to the front of the crowd. It was really nice!

Epcot has a few characters coming out and you follow them after rope drop to Soarin. They stop the crowds from running. It is not a ceremony as such.

At the Studios we did not see anything, but it was raining that morning, so the show might have been cancelled.

epcot theycome out in a bus and dance and sing,if your there in may during starwars weekends,at mgm they put on a cool show with stormtroopers over entrance

Animal Kingdom opening ceremony is great. It got us in a great mood for the rest of the day. Here's a couple of pics of it......

i enjoy the openings and find the fast walk behind the CMs to the big ticket attractions to be part of the 'fun' of being there...

i've never seen an opening at MGM, but maybe they have one..
there definitely is one at Epcot (the aforementioned bus filled with disney characters), AK and the MK.

The 'fast walk' is fine, its when they drop the rope.

In MGM in particular its terrible!!

They have some family on a car open the park. It takes AGES and finally when they finish we have to all walk behind the rope and they lead you about 200 yards away from ToT and RnRC. And when they drop the rope everyone RUNS to these rides and its just plain dangerous and anoying!! Once you get to the 1st ride, you ride it with little line (if you run fast enough, if you don't tough luck!) but then if you want to ride the other ride (TOT or RNRC) then there is a huge queue! It's a joke!!!

I totally agree. The whole point of us getting to a park early is to get on the rides, if we wanted to see the characters we know where to find them. I too think it is a touch dangerous for the little ones, as there is always a surge towards the main attraction. I hate them. I would much rather the Disney parks get civilised and just let the crowds in early like Universal and Islands do, thereby keeping the crowd level to a minimum. I think it is just human nature that if you stick people behind a rope they are automatically waiting for it to drop then to surge forward as quickly as they can. Far better just to have the characters there meeting and greeting if they want to do that.

And in answer to the question, all the Disney parks have a rope drop, Magic Kingdom holds you at the entrance first with the train pulling up with characters on, then you are allowed in to the central part of Magic Kingdom where you have to wait behind ropes at various bridges for the official opening time. Universal and Islands don't, they open earlier than 9 am and have a lot of the rides running if it is a busy time of the year.

when we were there, it seemed as if they had almost every CM in the park walking the HUGE crowd towards Soaring.
